If the tire was actually a safety issue, you would think NASCAR would throw caution immediately instead of waiting 20 laps for pit stops to cycle through.

Perhaps I'm wrong, but it feels like NASCAR threw the caution because the FOX booth was salivating for a caution.
 
and just like that an ill timed controversial caution wipes out Hamlin’s chances of winning and makes for more restarts.

Hey I said it should’ve been sooner. But I’ll always agree with a yellow when it’s something like that. I rather get a yellow, than someone be hurt. Any day of the week.
