Cup RACE thread --- Martinsville

"...Elliott’s crash off Hamlin’s bumper with six laps to go is unfortunate for his playoff chances. But given the way Elliott raced Brad Keselowski for the lead just before he got wrecked by Hamlin, it’s hard to argue that Elliott didn’t have something similar coming to him..."

Except the two are way different... and Keselowski was racing Elliott pretty dirty earlier in the race.

It's tough to defend Hamlin's actions, even if it wasn't the only offense of the race.

The replay looked like any other short track race I've seen in the past 25 years.

The 24's rear tires weren't on the ground for a looong while before the corner.

Not a Kyle damn Busch fan at all but god I was pulling for him or Truex in that final lap. Glad Denny didn't win.

Denny plain old dumped Chase...hope he doesnt plan on winning this championship....dont know if Chase has the kahunas to stop him though.

Pretty much everything else about that race was a racing deal but what Denny did was a plain old dump and if somebody it did that to a Toyota driver it would be a big deal to you

I almost kicked mine when Elliot appeared to be heading for a race win today, I almost put my foot thru it when Brad appeared to be heading for a race win today, I almost put my foot thru it when Hamlin appeared to be on the way to winning a race today ........... then I hugged my TV and danced on my furniture in glee ;)

Just got home from Martinsville. Best race of the year.Hard racing all through the field all race long. The crowd dosn't like Kyle AH Busch, booed loudly at intros and finish, but not as loud as Hamcrap at the finish. Hard to turn in with rears off the ground Elloitt didn't deserve that . He was aggressive all race. Passed 3 lugs Busch several times Gibbs bunch are the dirtiest of all

He was "just tryin' to rattle his cage..." Didn't mean to turn him :D

Haven’t watched a race in years, but luckily caught the last 100 laps of this one. Reading through the posts, was surprised no one mentioned Earnhardt spinning Labonte as it looked so similar. Great post . Races like this is what NASCAR used to be, hard driving on a short track.

NASCAR needs more short track racing. Roots.

And Hamlin got booed just like Dale Sr did..

Chase has been the 3rd (maybe even 2nd) fastest car in the playoffs so far. It sucks that bull**** like that is gonna cause him to be eliminated.

He isn't eliminated ........ a win in the next two races could easily put him in the final four.. he may not even need to win
Yep, he's basically in the same position Logano was in this time two years ago. Logano also could have advanced after the Kenseth incident had he won Texas or Phoenix.

Folks get dumped at short tracks every weekend. Looked like a racin' deal to me.
At a lot of your weekend short tracks the "dumper" is sent to the back on the restart. Might be time for NASCAR to take a look at that policy.

I also want to add : It does take a judgement call on whats hard racing, but it produces
the right consequence for the Hamlins of the world.

Its easy to defend Hamlin’s actions when you root for a driver that put a truck racer into the wall nose first over 100 MPH while under caution.

I remember that event well .... t told my wife "looks like Kyle finally got a belly full of Harvick and his minions" ......... I was sad because I knew Kyle was going to get into trouble. Last nights incident was in no way similar.

I dont how a person would only be sad about that....i would be sick to my stomach.

You know if I had just dumped a guy , a popular driver like Chase I’d hustle my ass outta there into my private plane and say see you later. What the hell was he still doing on pit road loitering around, that was sort of uncomfortable to watch. Denny had a deer in headlights look
