Cup RACE thread --- Texas

Yes. Every sport has it's Buescher's and Justin Haleys- flukes, luck, whatever you call it- it's part of the sport...usually marked with an asterisk as a statistical oddity. I have no problem with it truthfully. Or at least, not enough that we need to re-visit what has been standard operating procedure in oval racing for the past 100 years.

I don't put an asterisk by those wins but I do remember it and was happy for him. A win is a win and he earned it. Weather was coming in, or was already there, and his crew chief wisely decided to keep him on the track while everyone else pitted. That's called strategy and Buescher got into the chase because of it. Good for him. He's also a guy that doesn't do bad for the equipment he is in and tends to not tear it up either which gets my respect.

I give more credibility to those wins than plate track wins

We have a rule to not eat anywhere that we could go to back home.
If I'm going though a small town I try to find a local cafe where I see all of the local farmers pickups out front. The food is usually good and you definitely get caught up on all of the days news and politics. And they all have a grandson that has an old hot rod they are working on. It is not everyday they see a million dollar race car hauler parked in front of their local cafe so I usually end up giving a short tour after eating. ;)

The forecast looks pretty good today with a later start like 1pm or 2pm EST.

The forecast also looked good on Sunday lol.

Cold and wet. Already been there too long. Short week for Martinsville. No fans.

Yeah, when the green flag drops the drivers are just gonna phone it in.

with this being playoff race and I don't see all of them will fold it in.drivers like bowman and Chase possible need to win to advance to the final 4 so I don't see them phoning it in.

I left the house 45 mins ago, not gonna even bother sitting around waiting

^^ Last night I thought about putting out the Bat Signal to get The Apologist to 'splain racin' in the rain.

Apparently just thinking about it gets his attention.

I cant imagine any of these cars need to be in Martinsville but that
still does not help the fact that these teams are going to be getting a workout
the next few days turning around the repack for Martinsville.

Hoping to get this in today or nite for the teams sake!

I wonder if those fans are still excited that Texas allowed them to be there? I know I usually take off work the day of and the day following a race, but never the day after the day after.

I have invested so many hours into trying to watch this race that I feel like someone owes me a check with lots of overtime pay. :)

We have our backup hauler drivers in Texas and have been there since Sunday morning. Once this race is over, they will be ready to get all the way back to NC. Our Martinsville cars are on the shop floor, let's say 80% complete. But, we need or road crew to work on them.
Yea, the smaller teams might struggle a little. Bigger teams have no problem...

Greeting from Fort Worth, where it's 35 degrees right now!

I just stepped outside, and was able to see my own breath. The pavement is wet, but no precipitation is falling at the moment.

I'm about 10-15 miles south of the track.

Just run em on the legends car track. Truex has to start 5 laps down with that illegal spoiler though.

NASCAR doesnt care about the small teams right now. They only care about the top 8.

The radar is showing a light shower right about where TMS is located. I hope it's barely missing the track.

Texas Motor Speedway is a little bit north of the "t" in "Worth."
