Cup RACE thread --- Texas

Track is lost again.

Temps are cooling and sun is setting. Pack it up and try another 12 hours of drying the track while it’s misting.

I think todays circumstances make that more possible than in years past... since there’s no practice and qualifying... it definitely wouldn’t be comfortable for the teams to try and make that type of travel. It might be possible. The larger teams MIGHT even have more haulers to go ahead and take stuff(even if it was two different team cars together in a trailer) to martinsville. Definitely not an easy situation for the teams who likely just use one hauler
When I did media, at the Dickies 500 after the finish, all the haulers would move to the apron, and their counterparts would also pull onto the apron. Some teams used a standard 53' gooseneck/fifth wheel cargo trailer, non-descript. Others have full-on haulers that matched the race hauler.

Each "cargo"/"Test" hauler had either 2 or 4 cars in it. They would roll one car out of the race hauler (the texas backup), move the texas primary car to the front (phoenix backup), load the Phoenix primary car in, then put the texas backup in the cargo trailer.

It was quite the sight.

Those 2 Hendrick haulers are Featherlite trailers and it looks like all of those trailers have the old electric screw type elevator door. A lot of the newer trailers are ordered with hydraulic ram doors. They operate much faster and it takes half the time to get from the ground to the top floor. Plus you can level them with a remote control and don't have to worry about the chain breaking from fatigue and dropping the car and crew on the ground like John Forces did a few years ago.

NASCAR will try again on Tuesday to continue its Cup Series race from Texas Motor Speedway.
The resumption time is scheduled to be 11:00 a.m. CT, Noon ET. NBCSN will carry the television broadcast coverage while PRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio will provide radio coverage.
Should the field see the green flag on Tuesday afternoon, it would be the first time the Cup Series has raced on a Tuesday since 2011. NASCAR was forced to push its race at Atlanta to a Tuesday that year because of Tropical Storm Lee.

Funny how they tried for 10AM today, but tomorrow its 12... idk, just nothing they schedule makes any sense lol

you’d think the urgency would still exist to wake up and get the race in ASAP, but its like... “Nah... on Tuesdays In Texas, we sleep in”

I will be ready for action at 9.00 am with a stack of hot fluffy pancakes covered with creamy melted butter and rich thick warm maple syrup dripping over the sides... and a dusting of sweet powdered sugar on top.:punkrocke

Tell Mike Harmon we say hi

Going to Applebee’s once a week, increases the chances of a Mike Harmon autograph by 100%
Then I will never have to worry about getting his autograph because when I retired from racing I said I will never go to another Applebee's the rest of my life. I don't know what is up with race teams and Applebee's but that seems to be the hangout... and I think their food sucks.:bleh: Plus if he is in there then that is just one more good reason to go somewhere else.:)

For 100+ years it's been standard for asphalt oval races to stop running in the rain.

Only in the past two years or so have I heard the clambering for WE NEED RAIN TIRES!!!

I've been ****** out of a lot of races due to rain, including the infamous Pocono fog-out of 2016 (2017?). It happens.

I feel like thats why Michael Annett didn’t show up accepting Mike Harmon’s challenge the one time... Annett just prefers O’Charleys

I'm a Texas Road House, KFC Buffet, Golden Corral Buffet, and numerous BBQ pits when I'm on the road.:)

Alright mother nature, you've done me good so far by pushing the race to a day that I'm off work and can actually watch. Now, keep tomorrow dry so we can have a race! I mean, it's the least you could do seeings how you are also bringing heavy downpours all day both Tuesday and Wednesdays locally which means I'll be sitting at home doing nothing on my days off.

Btw...does mother nature read the board or am I talking to myself,

No, you have to go outside and get a stick and write your message in the dirt. ;)

Was that the one where Chris Buescher got his first and only cup win?

Mother Nature quit watching races after David Reutimann won the Coca Cola 600.

Yes. Every sport has it's Buescher's and Justin Haleys- flukes, luck, whatever you call it- it's part of the sport...usually marked with an asterisk as a statistical oddity. I have no problem with it truthfully. Or at least, not enough that we need to re-visit what has been standard operating procedure in oval racing for the past 100 years.
