Cup RACE thread --- Texas

The rain tire idea might be something NASCAR could bring in just as a last resort, like what they’re now looking at in Texas. Don’t hype or advertise ‘racing in the rain’ on an oval track... but have the rain tires there so that if enough weather is in the area causing issues for multiple days, then put the tires of just as a lame excuse to get a race to the half way point.
It isn't a lame excuse. It's been standard practice in many forms of auto racing for years. Problem is some older crustaceans think it is a new thing and they hate any change to their status quo.

Throw some rain tires on. Make them manage the right fronts as well as try to go fast in wet conditions. These are the best drivers in the world, so make them prove it.

Yes, it has. However, it doesn't happen on the high speed ovals of North America.

Why is that? Why hasn't the progressive leadership over at the IndyCar offices mandated rain-readiness at these same venues?

Comparing Nascar's to Indycars doesn't work

Comparing available visibility at the back of a 20 or a 40 car field works for me.

It isn't good enough to race the Indy cars in the rain at high speed tracks. The Cup field is almost twice as large.

again comparing Nascar's to Indycars doesn't work. A closer more realistic comparison would be the IMSA GT classes and they have raced in wet conditions in the Rolex 24 for years and they haven't fell off the edge of the earth yet

It works for me.

I'm sure I'll be advised when a wet race is run on a high speed oval.

Anyone know what channel this is going to be on Directv? 220 is NBCSP but they've got soccer on?

Here's the latest radar image. A small amount of green has suddenly appeared near the track. Hopefully, it's an error/ground clutter or it misses the track.

Texas Motor Speedway is a bit north of the "t" in "Worth."

EDIT: Based on the previous two posts, it appears the green near the track is real and not an error or ground clutter. Crap.

Race is official at halfway or the end of stage 2. Whichever comes first.

Race Friday and Sunday might be doable for the teams but the broadcast equipment has to be deep cleaned and I believe they said a while back that that takes 3 days.
