Cup RACE thread --- Texas

For those that have YouTube TV...is the race already automatically recording? If not I'll do it manually from my phone

I wonder what cog was in the wheel that had NASCAR scheduling the teams to travel a 1000 miles west to Texas and then 1100 miles back east to Martinsville and then turning around and traveling 2200 miles back west to Phoenix all back to back?

Well, there goes my 'give a hoot' circuit breaker. I hate it when that thing trips. It takes forever to get it reset.

Run it tonight, run it tomorrow, doesn't matter. If I see it, great; if I miss it, life will go on, theoretically at Martinsville.

i wondered that same thing. Really strange they set themselves up like this.

would almost be tempting for some teams to actually load the texas and Phoenix cars together and stay out west for a few weeks... maybe not, I don’t know.

Well is that a good thing? How are they calling engines fired at8:30 when there's an hour and a half of unpredictable weather still?

By George they will be there or else! LOL

I sure know what these crew guys are going through. These long rain delays are not fun especially if they don't call the race and decide to start late and race until 1.00 or 2.00 am. That sure makes for a long day. I just had to do that last year at Topeka. NHRA would call it if they had 1 pro qualifying session in that day because they wouldn't have to do rain checks, but if they didn't have 1 pro session in they would keep you there until there just wasn't any chance of getting one session in.

It would be funny if 3 or 4 drivers secretly already hopped on a plane and are back in North Carolina lol

anyway, this is REALLY interesting just for the fact that these 53 laps cannot be ignored... but I also see NASCAR wishing they could call an audible and run a double at Martinsville or even Phoenix... but that would be incredibly unfair to dump these 53 laps and allow everyone a clean slate... especially since it would benefit someone like the 4 team so much... so this is really weird
The way that front end got away from Harvick I wonder if a damp spot on the track might have caused his crash.

Well, looking at the forecast, once the rain ends tomorrow, the clouds should move out, so there shouldn't be any lingering mist.

Not that they are concerned about ratings at this point, but tomorrow could be better if LA wins the World Series tonight.

I just looked at the hour to hour forecast and unless it changes I think they will get it in tomorrow night, and if not then definitely on Thursday which should give them time to make it to Martinsville. The broadcast teams and even the small budget race teams probably have already flown an extra driver in for the haul back east.

Why do they make the start later and later on the next day?! I guess it shouldn’t bother me, but weirdly it does.

Do they like sleeping in or something?

I'm assuming this time, they looked at the hourly forecast to decide when to start it. Didn't want to make the drivers have to be prepared all day and probably don't want to have to use the jet dryers until they are sure it's done raining.

Hoping I am done with my hand specialist appointment by 1p tomorrow.............. :lol2:

Heading out on a road trip tomorrow.

Will probably miss two live races.

I will be racing slot cars from Wed through Sat so I will just take my laptop with me and watch the live timing and listen to PRN. Even though I'm not a BB fan I am watching game 6 right now.

At 7PM local, the planned start time tonight, Air temp was 38 degrees, and so was the dew point. 96% humidity.

Tomorrow morning is set to be a "high" of 49 degrees, dropping to 42 degrees by early evening. Thursday is slightly better.

I'm more concerned with the right front tire. The cars are going to be fast, on a very green track.

Yep, when they were talking about trying to race that late I couldn't believe the dew point was going to allow that.
