cup / road america next yr.....put sonoma in chase ?

A Cup race at Road America would be great, IMO. And I would love to see a Chase race on a road coarse; the champion should be able to perform well on all types of tracks.
 
Road America all the way!!! Down in Austin, good chance it will be warm and dry, and it is the best track in America. Watkins Glenn I think Nascar owns that one would be my second choice, but that far north late in the season? Sonoma bless it's heart is dessert ugly.

Unfortunately, NASCAR has already said there will be no new venues on the 2014 Sprint Cup Series schedule. NASCAR's schedule, like just about everything else, is boring.

all that is is Nascar's refusal to run in the rain. They ran a N'wide on a road course in the rain. Micky mouse wipers were added. Goodyear brought a good tire for it. The rain became a downpour so they stopped the race and comments were made by the brass that they weren't going to do that anymore. Threw the baby out with the bathwater IMO.

Sounds like a lot of speculation, but if Sonoma is ever in the Chase I'll be very happy. There's no excuse not to have a road course in the Chase. There's no excuse not to have a diverse Chase, period. Six 1.5-mile races in the first 26 races and then five in the Chase?

yep that is the hammer we fans can use, don't freakin care for all the 1.5's, can't get rid of the talledaga wreckfest, so at least give us a road course in the future. Works for me anyway.
 
I don't know who Mike Mulhern is, but he's just flat out wrong.

The President of Road America said in an interview a few months ago they would need 18 months and millions of dollars to bring the track up to Sprint Cup standards for racing facilities. They're willing to spend it if they get solid interest from NASCAR, but it hasn't happened yet. No way Road America for Sprint Cup in 2014. This is more made up "I heard this from a buddy but can't tell you who" rumors. This bull**** is absolutely reaching a fever pitch inside the NASCAR fan community.
 
I thought they had a good race with the N'wide cars there, can't see the cup cars having any problems, they aren't going to be that much faster. Race came off great, and it sounds like it isn't a chase track if it is to be.

Sears point (Sonoma) wouldn't be new.

Road America would be new to Cup. NASCAR won't add a road course to the Chase anytime soon. The drivers would complain non-stop if they did.
 
Road America, Road Atlanta, Sebring... any of those would be amazing for a Nascar race.
 
I think that's the next step.

I think we'll be seeing a RC soon in the last 10. I'd go for Sonama but Road America would be cool too.

Only problem with that is that NASCAR would have to drop a race of the schedule entirely. Unless they add 1 more race to the schedule making it 37 per.

They don't have to add, they can move one of the current ones into the chase.
 
TMS is making the "biggest announcement since the track opened" on monday. Wondering if their fall date for 2015 got shafted in favor of austin? Well, one can wish.

Mike Mulhern's a nice guy but he's a pot stirrer and he's pretty damn good at it. I'd be surprised if any of that came to fruition - but any or all of those changes would be welcome.
 
Although, there are some others with a lot of credibility saying they've heard many of the same things Mike's reporting. Still, I don't see this happening but man, that'd be a good schedule.

Whenever that subject gets brought up the drivers seem to be ok with the idea. I'd much rather have a Road Course in the chase than a plate track any day. As a matter of fact, plate tracks during the chase is a bad idea. Only reason there is even one in the chase its because of the total unknown and because France knows it will pack the house.

These guys should be able to control their destinies the whole way through, not count on others to help your cause.
 
I'm hoping they bring NW and SC to Bowmanville, Ontario where they had the trucks race a couple weeks ago. That'd be a crazy chase race.
