Danica Patrick to run full NNS schedule in 2012

Thats quite funny...lol;)

NASCAR doesnt need Danica as bad as Indycar does. I would prefer her to stay in Indycar as well as that series would too.

Agreed, she should stay put plus I don't think she will do better in nascar than she has in IRL.

Well, if the rumors are true, I'm definitely looking forward to all the NNS races next year - except for the one @ Indy, of course.

Wonder if she'll ever try 1100 miles on Memorial weekend if she rises to the Cup ranks? Maybe I'm getting a little ahead of myself, there. Fun to think about it, though.

Reaffirming what the CEO of her primary racing sponsor said a few months ago, the Associated Press reported Danica Patrick still might run the Indianapolis 500 next season if she makes a full-time move to NASCAR.

That's the word on the Internet. She will run a full Nationwide schedule in 2012 for JR Motorsports and run a few Cup races for Stewart-Haas as well. Let the overkill begin.

I wonder who's happier, NASCAR or ESPN (the exclusive broadcast network of the Nationwide Series).

Maybe they'll rename it the "GoDaddy.com presents the NASCAR Nationwide Series starring Danica Patrick"

Danica's smarter than the others.

She didn't jump in to NASCAR head first like Dario and Hornish did which led to their subsequent failures in NASCAR. She eased in, and I think she realizes what most of us already realize, the IndyCar Series is a sinking ship.

"...I’m just going to go with my gut and go with what I want to do and where I will feel happiest. It also comes down to where I feel I will be the most successful..."
-Danica

Sorry folks but it ain't happening.

Once Nascar's Brian France figures out that Danica has sports illustrated pictures on the internet she will be banned for life.
Only a plea by Danica stating it was purely to bring good attention to her corporate sponsors could help, since that's paramount.

Plus a pledge to always, always, in the future dress like a Nun, a Taliban girl, or a Miss Sprint Cup Trophy Queen , with affidavits saying she doesn't even like being a woman. Because the Miss Sprint Cup Trophy Queen makes it very clear that they ain't putting up with women being women in Nascar.

Open wheel died with the CART/IRL debacle.
Incidentally, Danica is the third highest-paid female athlete (I did not know that).
Izod IndyCar Series driver and fan favorite Danica Patrick is the world's third-highest-paid female athlete, according to an earnings estimate by Forbes.com. Patrick's annual income is estimated at $12 million, trailing only tennis players Maria Sharapova ($25 million) and Caroline Wozniacki ($12.5 million). Tennis players dominate the list, grabbing seven of the top 10 spots. Forbes's estimates are for the 12 months ending on July 1 and include the athletes' salaries, prize money, appearance fees and endorsements.(AutoWeek)(8-3-2011)

Just imagine if she actually won something.

True Dat!

Miss Thang deserves a shot at Stock Car Racing if that's what she wants to do. Sponsors will flock to JRM to get their logos on her car. Her presence will have a dramatic effect on the amount of attention paid to the NNS Series - and that is all good!

But regarding her CUP aspirations? I just can't see how a 5-foot-nothing 98-pound person (male or female) would have the strength and/or stamina to withstand 500 laps at Bristol or 600 miles at Charlotte in an 850hp CUP monster.

The IZOD Go-Karts, IMO, are the perfect racecars for Danica.

Mark Martin can't weigh much more than Danica.

size doesn't mean squat as long as there's power steering. mark martin isn't that much bigger than danica.

Mark Martin could Bench Press Danica! :D

And drivers have said that they sometimes will lose 10 pounds during a race. That would kill someone like Miss Thang.

I read somewhere she said driving stock cars is alot of fun and she really loves it. she also doesn't seem to have the attitude that a few races in and she will kick butt. she seems to more than realize it will be a huge learning curve.
I wish her good luck.
:beerbang::beerbang::beerbang:

I think part of Danica's decision to move to NA$CAR is based on 3 things (I may be full of it too tho). 1. She'll never get the equipment the Franchitti, Power, Dixon, Kanaan's get, 2. She likes driving ovals, 3. she may feel saver in a NW Car. Not to mention she'll be the darling of Nationwide where he's no big deal in IndyCar. The fans think she's a big deal but TBTB in IndyCar don't. If they did they would make sure she stays in IndyCar.

Apparently it hasn't. In six 2011 Nationwide starts, she has one top-five and two top-ten finishes including a top-ten at Daytona where drivers have said all year is a physically demanding race because of the two car tandems.

That don't mean ****. One of my friends, she's no taller than 5'2" and weighs no more than 100 pounds and she can bench press over 200 pounds.

That's pretty amazing. I really like Danica and I hope that she does well.

We all know that NNS races are shorter and the cars are not as powerful so time will tell whether or not she can make the transition to CUP. Some (guys) have and some haven't...

This is my take, right or wrong, just my opinion. As she gains more experience, especially running just the NW cars and not going back and forth between the two, I think you will see her performance dramatically improve. She has shown glimpses of a lot of car control, the talent is there, it just needs developing. I wouldn't expect her to be an overnight star that is for sure, but give her one season under her and then I think she might win a race in NW. As for Cup, that is a something that she shouldn't jump to just to say she did it. Money of course will play a factor in this, with all the sponsors wanting the exposure with her in the car.

She's holding her own in Nationwide... and once she runs this full time and isn't making the transition from open wheel cars to big boy cars, she'll do even better.

A couple questions.....

What do you think that this will mean to the IRL's?

What do you think this means for NASCAR's future?

I don't think that Miss Thang's departure will have much of an impact on the IZOD Series. The novelty of Danica has worn off to a large degree, and it's been shown that she is not competitive on road or street circuits, which comprise more than half of the IZOD Series schedule.

BUT, she will bring a lot of much-needed attention and sponsorship dollars to the Nationwide Series - at least for a while. And if she can run competitively, she may have a long and successful NASCAR career.

The news conference that tentatively was scheduled for Wednesday to announce the move of IndyCar Series star Danica Patrick to NASCAR full-time in 2012 has been postponed.Multiple sources said GoDaddy.com, which is planning the official announcement in Phoenix, is optimistic the news conference will be rescheduled for Thursday. Sources told ESPN.com it was postponed because of delays in dealing with multiple parties involved in the process. According to sources, Patrick will drive a full-time Nationwide Series schedule in 2012 for JR Motorsports, for whom she drove part-time this season and last. She also will drive a part-time Sprint Cup schedule for Stewart-Haas Racing, with an eye on a full-time Cup ride there in 2013.(ESPN)(8-24-2011)

Wow! Here I had thought all the male chauvinistic pigs had died off. There's plenty of women who not only can do the same job as a man but can also do it better. Then they come home and cook and clean for your mangy azz.

Do you know any women who can read as well as StewartHaas-Gibbs Racing? :D
