Danica Patrick to run full NNS schedule in 2012

Well there we have it folks. I hope she does pretty good next year and runs great and has some great finishes.

I wish her all the best! Her presence in Nationwide will bring a lot of attention and money to the Series.

I have my doubts as to how well she will do (especially in CUP) but I would love to see her be competitive and consistent.

That Joonyer guy is no dummy!! He knows from personal experience that a driver doesn't have to win in order to be popular with the fans and the media! ;)

Didn't it say that Smokes' ride for Danica was going to be sposored by GoDaddy? I thought they were sponsoring the #5 ride with Kasey in it?

Here is my take and opinion on her move.. To me, its a bittersweet day.. Im happy and both sad..

First off, Im happy for her that she is where she wants to be. I love Danica and will always be her biggest fan no matter where she goes and I wish her nothing but the best. I do feel that she will do very well. She will predominately be on ovals and this is where she succeeds at. So I think she will be very competitive and I do think we will see her grab a victory or two.

Now, unfortunately she is staying with JR Motorsports. I wasnt crazy about her going there last year. Im not a Tony Eury Jr. fan by no means, and not a huge Earnhardt fan either. I would rather see her with another team. I would be real happy if she were. That's the biggest thing I dont like about the move. I do like Tony Stewart and I think that is a great fit for her and we will see her there full time at Stewart Haas in 2013.

My opinion is I wish she would stay in the Indycar series. I have told her this several times. I prefer indycar races. However, I see her reasoning behind leaving as her and the series have different views and plans to where they want the series to go, and all ovals or mostly ovals isnt one of them. She wants to make the move as well. Indycar racing to me is much better to watch than a stock car race. You cant beat high speed oval racing in indycar where you cant bump like you can NASCAR. This to me makes it a lot more exciting. I do enjoy NASCAR a lot but I am first to admit, I prefer a good Indycar race anyday.

I will continue to watch Indycar and be just as an avid fan of the series as I ever have been. It will be a little more sad and strange though not having my favorite driver of all or any series being there racing after all this time. That I will admit makes me a little depressed. And yes, I will continue to make the race threads for all of you..

Danica Patrick will make her debut in NASCAR's Sprint Cup Series in the 2012 Daytona 500. While Patrick does not plan to run a full Cup schedule until 2013, she will do eight to 10 Cup races next year with Stewart-Haas Racing, beginning with the Daytona 500, a source familiar with the announcement said Wednesday night. Patrick will run her Nationwide schedule, as she has the past two seasons, with JR Motorsports and all Cup races will be run out of SHR. GoDaddy.com will sponsor all of Patrick's NASCAR races, sources said.(Charlotte Observer)
UPDATE 3: Putting the pedal to the media metal, and with Go Daddy CEO and Founder Bob Parsons at her side & Danica revealed her racing future today. "We can finally put the rumors to rest I am going full-time NASCAR with Go Daddy next year," Danica told a crowded Phoenix news conference a few minutes ago. "I am going to race a full Nationwide schedule and limited Sprint Cup schedule in my GoDaddy.com Chevrolet next season." For the NASCAR Nationwide Series races, she'll drive with her current stock car team, JR Motorsports, owned by Dale Earnhardt, Jr. In the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, Danica will be with Stewart-Haas Racing, co-owned by two-time Sprint Cup champion Tony Stewart and Gene Haas, founder of Haas Automation. Both series will be financially fueled by Go Daddy, her long-time sponsor who first signed the Go Daddy Girl in 2006. (JR Motorsports)(8-25-2011)
Statement from NASCAR CEO Brian France: "We are pleased Danica Patrick has chosen to race full time in NASCAR in 2012. She has demonstrated a strong desire to compete and NASCAR provides the best opportunity to race against the top drivers in the world with the largest and most loyal fan base in motorsports on a week-to-week basis. Danica has shown solid improvement in NASCAR and we believe her decision to run full time in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, with additional races in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, will be exciting for our fans and a great challenge for her."(NASCAR)(8-25-2011)
Statement from Tony Stewart: "We're very excited to have Danica Patrick and Go Daddy join Stewart-Haas Racing in 2012 for a limited NASCAR Sprint Cup Series schedule with the intention of us running her full-time in Sprint Cup in 2013. We're proud of the fact she wants to come and be a part of Stewart-Haas Racing and what we've built with Ryan Newman and myself and all of our partners. Having Danica and Go Daddy as a combination at SHR is something we're really looking forward to. The thing you see in Danica right away is how determined she is to be good at what she does. She's very dedicated to taking the time and effort to make the transition from Indy cars to stock cars. She has talent, she has the right mindset and she has the proper drive and determination. It doesn't matter who it is you're looking for, those are the key attributes that you look for in a driver, and Danica's got them."(Stewart Hass Racing)(8-25-2011)

Yeah, she pretty much sucks on road and street courses - even though she ran pretty well in Montreal - before she fried her brakes. She is an Oval driver, no doubt. She will be competitive, but a win or two? I'd probably bet against that...

IMO, CUP is a mistake for Miss Thang. She'll wilt like a bouquet of pretty flowers in the summer heat while driving a CUP Monster.

I watched CART more than NASCAR before Tony Effen George started his bastard-child series (whose name I will not mention). The IZOD Series now is a distant 4th for me behind CUP, N'wide and Trucks. I might even put F1 ahead of the IZOD Series. But I am intrigued by what next year will bring!

Glad to hear that you will be sticking around! Maybe next year you can update your avatar with a pic of her next to a GoDaddy Impala! :D

i could be wrong but i think a sponsor can sponsor as many teams/drivers as they want. if they've got the money honey, we'll find them a ride. ;)

I wonder if GoDaddy will put Kasey in pumps and make him do naked commercials.

Is it possible to change a screen name here? I may have to drop the StewartHaas from my name to something else. I am not happy about this whatsoever.

Yeh I know.;) Just thought that the 5 car had GoDaddy as the Primary for Kasey in 2012, they must have a hell of a lot money to throw around then!

Tony has both talent and a successful track record to back his attitude up. Danica has been mediocre at best her whole racing career despite having excellent equipment and sponsorship just thrown at her.

I, for one, see this as a good thing. She will get the Nationwide series a lot of attention because she is running full time. It doesn't matter who good, or bad, she runs the media will be all over it. It will give the series some much needed exposure in my opinion.

That's exactly what I have been saying! It doesn't matter how badly she performs (re: Dale Jr.) she will still be a media darling - and folks will be lined up 3-deep at her merch trailer every week!

how many wins did Vickers get with Hendrick? Oh and don't count the Nationwide/Busch Series since supposedly when it comes to anyone but Kyle or Carl it don't count...he got what...1? and he had to wreck his teammate and Jr to get that.

What does that have to do with anything?

I'm pointing out how you call her mediocre when she has excellent equipment right? You're favorite driver is Vickers right? or you're a big fan of his...is he mediocre? I don't get this whole thing people give reasons for not liking a driver yet the driver they like fits what was just said. It's very confusing me is all. So what makes you a fan of Vickers?

Apples to oranges when you consider that Vickers was all of 20 years old when he started piloting the #25 and was rushed after winning a Busch series title.
