Daytona 500 qualifying

No surprise that #3 would be on the front row. I predicted as much to some friends a couple of days ago.

Richard Childress: "...couldn't be more prouder." Twice.
He must be fun at corporate stuff.

The #3 grabs the 500 pole in return to cup......that is, what we call in the "rasslin" business, a work!

Agreed. But Nascar brought the conspiracy possibility talk on themselves - phantom debris cautions at end of races and admitting to changing the points system to create "Game 7" moments.

bingo! Yahtzee! Thanks for playing! :pbjtime:

Did the entire engine department get them? Truex Jr. isn't even in a full-fledged RCR car and almost won the pole.

Truex was on the pole when he crossed the line, then magically was scored second. How very odd indeed

Watch the footage, ahead by .3 on scoring when he crossed line, yet he falls to 2nd.
LOL There's no way Truex beat the field by three tenths of a second. That would mean his get-up-to-speed lap would've been in the top ten.

Hmmmmm....RCR engines at the top of the charts, #3 car with Gil Martin and the 29 team on the pole and SHR engines blowing up. Wonder what Harvick is thinking right about now.

He was .03 ahead ...but that tracker on TV is not completely accurate.....maybe. I don't like it but the RCR engine package is geared and peaking for the single car runs. So either way they were going to beat the field. I'm just happy the Fords came in so competitively!

We're making a big stink about a plate race. Plate racing is a crapshoot.
The pace car had a shot at last night's Unlimited, but it caught on fire.

I think we found our official conspiracy guy.

We've got a full house now. :partytime

I wonder if anyone has considered, that maybe this Dillon kid is just a pretty darn good racer in pretty good equipment.

You couldn't possibly be right, after all, Dillon was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. He is only racing because he was born to money. If he wasn't given a special motor and a different restrictor plate, he wouldn't have made the race. :sarcasm:

I really didn't see anything spectacular from Dillon in his appearances in the Cup Series last year, so I don't expect he'll be up front very long. Feel free to quote me on Feburary 24th.

I knew it not take long before people called in the fix.

As said, if they wanted to fix races and all this bs, JR would have been a champion in the Cup by now at least 5 or 6 times.

The ticker always bounces around at the end of the lap. Look at Kligerman's interval bounce a couple of times in between 1:12-1:16.

I agree. Fixing qualifying would be a lot more difficult to pull off than taking liberties with calling cautions and coming up with goofy championship formats though. I don't think we have any substantial evidence for this like we do with "debris" cautions.

Hilarious. Sig worthy.

So did Brian France hand over a special plate to the 3 car? Looks like they got "the call". The France mafia has no bounds when it comes to promoting some drama. The media should really eat this up. Reminds me of Danica last year.

The pace car had a shot at last night's Unlimited, but it caught on fire.

The pace car's components were fine but the procedures were the problem. The procedure of a Chevy pace car catching fire was apparently hard on the components. The component that was the problem was procedurally insufficient. This according to Hendrick spokesman, Doug Douchardt.

Can't say nascar isnt trying! They put in place a points system that would have crowned little E champ last yr . jk jk jk...

I am not saying that NASCAR gave him the pole, but if we all step back for a minute, and look at NASCAR as whole, and all the things that have happend lets just say in the last few years, its very easy why some people thing that NASCAR may have rigged the pole , lets go back for a minute 365 days ago, and look at what happend when Danica was given, err won the pole for the 500, it put NASCAR smack dab in the media spotlight for that entire week, and NASCAR and Danica was what everyone was talking about, and all teh hype that it created, and that is what NASCAR wants, I mean since King France took over, NASCAR has pretty much lost all of it credibility as a sanctioning body .
I am going to leave you with this, remember what was said last year after Danica got the pole, "you couldn't right a better story", and what better story then after 13 years, the #3 wins the Daytona 500, err, I mean wins the pole
