Does Country Music Need An Alcohol Intervention?

Blake Shelton just won Male Entertainer of the Year. Carrie Underwood is pissed she didn't win it.

What they need most is an award show intervention. They have the CMA awards, ACM awards(can anyone tell me the difference between the two), the CMT awards, GAC awards. Last night they had a countdown to the next awards show show. I could maybe understand if they were nominating different people but it's the same 8 or 9 people for EVERY award EVERY time.
There isn't a GAC awards. They partner up with the ACM's annually. There is the ACA's though.

Not sure why the Country awards shows keep nominating Taylor Swift for stuff. Isn't she pretty much full-blown pop now? I guess they just can't let her go.

Luke Bryan has one of the weakest singing voices I've ever heard.

I can't believe people still listen to Country Music, its down right embarrassing now.

Hey look guys, lets string a few words around beer, whiskey, some body of water, and a girl, now you've got a country song.

Country Music needs Doyle Hargraves. I remember him beating up the sorry band in the slingblade movie simply for not being worth a damn.
Doyle was sick but Nashville and America really needs about 5 minutes of his service.

Really? Go watch her bring the crowd to a standing ovation alongside Vince gill singing how great thou art. The most overrated singer in country(now that Taylor left) is Miranda Lambert. By the way, she has 6 Grammy's to her credit.

Sorry, constantly singing the same high note for 20 seconds followed by another high note just doesn't do anything for me. Her music is starting to become cookie cutter.

Everyone kept talking about how hot Miranda Lambert is and how she's the greatest singer ever. I didn't see or hear that.

Luke Bryan beat George Strait AND Eric Church. Miranda Lambert beat Martina McBride for best female vocalist. That's embarrassing - on each count.

The guy sounds like Kermit the Frog to me, but I guess somebody's listening to his stuff.

Remembering the good old days.

I'm sorry, but under no circumstances is the achy breaky song "the good old days."

Couldn't agree more. But it is the Internets I had to do it.....

Like his music or not, well deserved. He's freaking fantastic live.
Really when I saw him live a few years ago opening for Aldean I'm pretty sure he was drunk off his ass, and just messed around for an hour not finishing songs.

Must have been a bad night. That didn't happen on any of the times I saw him.

I turned on a country radio station in the truck today and there was a Rascal Flatts song on there. They were another one of the things that started the genre circling the drain in my mind. When did it become wrong to sing like a man? I know there has always been a Vince Gill type or two thrown around every now and then, but it seemed like when Rascal Flatts took their pop chick sounding stuff to the top of the charts the next thing you know there was Lonestar and a bunch of other dudes that all sounded like chicks trying to be just like them.

After thinking about country music's sad downward decline I knew I needed some time to peacefully consider the greater purpose. Some quite time to meditate on things positively and to see the light. The darker the night, the greater the light.
And after many hours of great reflection I think I have found some spiritual peace.

I remember my younger days in the late 70s when the disco craze ruined a lot of good radio. Out of respect to our younger readers I will not say too much about the torture and suffering I endured. The pain doesn't need reliving, and I would not wish it upon the world's most wicked individuals.
But there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. Disco eventually went away and good old rock returned becoming prevalent on FM radio. I remember the time when our starved ears was liberated and disco died.

After the strength returned I thought a lot about the evil disco tormentors which was primarily the Bee Gees. And that was when the I felt the peace and knew everything would be OK in country music as well. I realized that two of those Bee Gees are dead now, and there are only two more left. I wiped the tears away and just said thank you Lord, with sincere gratitude.

I'm no country music aficionado, but I just started listening to Carrie Underwood yesterday, and honestly, I really like her. I was looking for a pop-country alternative to Taylor Swift, and Carrie's name popped up first in my head. The only other one I knew of was Miranda Lambert. She was okay, but after listening to some samples from both of them, I liked Carrie better.

I dunno, I'll take pop-country over standard pop music or that Iggy Azalea nonsense that was posted earlier in this thread any day. (I generally can't stand that girl, but she is pretty hot. Don't act like y'all would kick her out of bed, you liars. LOL.)

I love my country music and I love my beer. Songs about drinkin', wimin', dawgs', truks', etc..... It's all good. It was great way back when and it is today. Great thing about today is that if you don't like it, there are a ton of alternatives. Crank up Pandora or what every your choice may be and have at it. There's room for all of us music fans out there.

I dunno about all of country music, but Hank II could use an intervention ;)

But then again, Hank III does kind of kick ass a little.

I hate these awards shows and if they're going to televise them, they need to televise the cool ones. On the night before the CMAs were televised there was a Classic Rock awards show in LA (it's usually held in the UK) with musical guests such as Brian May, Billy Gibbons, and Joe Perry playing with the Kings of Chaos, and awards going to the Doors, Ozzy Osbourne, Gregg Allman, Queen, Metallica, Jeff Lynne, Joe Perry, and Dave Mustaine, Of course they did not broadcast that show. That would just be too cool.
