Looks like my popcorn bucket needs to be refilled.
Well, that takes the heat off the Steve Phelps deal and holding people accountable.

A bit early considering there has been only one race. They still have the fudging up the points later in the season though. I'm guessing/hoping it isn't as bad as the previous mess they had.
At least now the drivers locked into the top 16 will actually be IN the top 16 when the 'regular season' ends, not 28th and gaining a dozen unearned positions.I haven't thought much about it overall, but I will never get over resetting the points and discriminating against the drivers below the "cut line".
Yeah that part is better, it was a double insult for a last place team win to knock out a team that was in the playoff group legitimately but the points reset is bogus. At least now the drivers locked into the top 16 will actually be IN the top 16 when the 'regular season' ends, not 28th and gaining a dozen unearned positions.
Well said.I haven't thought much about it overall, but I will never get over resetting the points and discriminating against the drivers below the "cut line". We see it all the time where a team can get on a hot streak and move forward. This practice of resetting the points prohibits that from happening. In fact the network tries to forget that any of them below their self imposed line are racing on the track. Every position means a lot to those lower echelon teams. A hot streak could mean multi millions to those teams.
You can't build stars when the broadcasts focus on the drop-outs.Not going to miss the gerbs and the cameras focused for half the race or more trying to get us to swallow the will he make the cut line cut off fake drama. Ruins the whole continuity of the race.
It is going to happen again when they go back to fudging up the points "cut offs" at the end of the season with the latest B.S. version.F-ing incredible that NASCAR couldn't see that happening on day one of the playoff format OR just didn't give a $hit.
They would give Brad the crappy car if he was locked into the Championship.
Took away the win and you are in. Now get rid of the rest of it.
You mean they win a race are in the playoffs and like Kez says they don't get the good stuff because the team focuses on their other cars getting in the playoffs, OR they load up the last place yota in a plate race and the last place car in the series wins the plate race and gets a ton of owner points, over 3 million in winnings and guarantees for next year.... that strategy? Tell me that's just peachy.Shows that some teams didn’t understand strategy. You would get playoff points based on your regular season points finish and you can get playoff points by winning stages.
Not a good look for the teams.
In a way I hope it is right and it happens. Nascar/TV can't stand racing to be organically scored. All three series with this nonsense. So someone check this for me. Got it from AI. Regarding the 10 race post season. The earliest possible clinch is theoretically after the 5th Chase race (the midpoint), when the leader has enough of a points cushion that no combination of results in the remaining 5 races can be overcome by any other driver—even in the most extreme scenario (e.g., leader wins every remaining race while others maximize point
Sounds right. So someone check this for me. Got it from AI. Regarding the 10 race post season. The earliest possible clinch is theoretically after the 5th Chase race (the midpoint),
Yep, the gerbils have a good chance of missing their big finale, but not before all of the B.S. we have to deal with before it happens. We won't be spared of that lol.Sounds right.
The leader has an advatage over second. Say the leader maximizes points in the first five races while the second place driver finishes last. Say they switch positions over the last five. They will have scored the same number of points but the initial points difference will still be in effect at the end. The other 14 guys will start even further behind the leader.
But the scenario requires too many conditions to occur. A lockup in race 9 or even 8 wouldn't be much if a shock.
I'm just doing an off-the-cuff logic check of the 5-race clinch scenario. I'll leave the repercussions to others.Yep, the gerbils have a good chance of missing their big finale, but not before all of the B.S. we have to deal with before it happens. We won't be spared of that lol.
The odds of that happening are greater than their game 7 moment unless they fudge up the points some more than they have already. When I saw that they rewarded the highest finisher more bonus points after the fudge off, I knew there were good odds of a winner happening before the last race.I'm just doing an off-the-cuff logic check of the 5-race clinch scenario.
