Gen6. Some more thoughts?

Is it safe to say that the Gen 6 car is doing a great job besides Daytona?
Phoenix-good
Las Vegas-good
Bristol-great
Fontana-great

I mean look how good Fontana, yes Fontana was!

I'm excited to see this car on the other tracks if the racing stays this exciting all year. Thumbs up for the Gen 6 car from me so far.

Yep. Everybody cried about Gen 6 at Daytona and Phoenix, but NASCAR said the whole time the car was designed to run good at the cookie-cutter 1.5/2.0 mile tracks, and damn, we had some great finishes at Vegas and Fontana.

Racing's been great! I feel like alot of the racing today was due to the surface aging. But boy am I hopeful. Today the fast cars were able to get through the pack with ease and the tires made a difference. Awesome stuff! It's what alot of us have been wanting. :D

Let's not overreact the other way . Some great racing , yes , due to the car ? I don't know if I would go that far. It's great that some great racing has happened ,and it's great that it has taken the heat off the gen 6 ,and it should put some more butts in the seats , but the car is just a car.

The aging track surface and a tire that wore certainly proved to be a great combination. Throw some credit to the new car too. Hopefully these others tracks will think twice about repaves cause we've seen a lot of them. I'm sure the only changes we'll see when they return to Fontana is safer barriers on the inside wall.

The biggest difference Sunday was tire fall off. I guess that extra speed made the difference, because it sure was fun seeing guys take 4 and burn thru the field. I would say it was a success this week.

they need to put more aggregate in the mix when they repave, and perhaps develop a asphalt mix with less oil.

Repaving would be a mistake. Takes the race out of racing.

I was thinking this morning that Fontana will soon announce a repaving with changes in the banking. IMO, yesterday was what racing is all about - leave it alone and let 'em race.

Dale Jr. had some good comments about the repave issue in his post race media session. I posted it in the race thread if anyone's interested.

The racing was good this week due to the number of restarts.A couple yellows close together at the end kept everybody bunched up.If it would have stayed green for a while at the end it would have been a bore.
