Hamlin fined for comments

When I hear Walmart, Exxon or any other corporation tell the world their 'employees' should have at it and speak their mind, all that will make sense. There wasn't even a hint of slamming or denegrating the racing, nascar or the damn car. He said what the racing was, and said it will take some time.

This. He didn't criticize anything.

@dustinlong
#NASCAR's Robin Pemberton on Hamlin penalty: "You can't slam your racing. You can't slam your product. That's where it crosses the line.''

He is clearly too dumb to differentiate between "slamming" and "having an original thought".

When you have an organization who don't have enough shoulders to take a little, and I mean a very little constructive criticism, Houston we have a problem. Denny was very diplomatic, said what he said very calmly, and if that is all it takes, so be it. Hope he goes into other forms of racing..I would like to see a bunch walk out and do something else. If they had a problem with what he said, they should have gotten him off to the side and discussed it with him.

I stand by what I said. It makes no difference if the world knows about it or not nor what the reason for the fine was, it is their company and they can do what they want. I never said that I was in favor of it or even understood it, just that they can do what they want and we can do the usual dead horse beating but it will still do no good.

Maybe they did several times and it didnt work, may be more to it than we know.

It's their playground and they want all their drivers to be boring ass robots like Jimmie Johnson. NASCAR lost MILLIONS of fans and viewers during the Jimmie Johnson Show.

it will if he decides to shove it up there you know where and go somewhere else..I bet he could find a ride real easily

I would've loved to see NASCAR try to fine Dale Earnhardt.

If thats the case andy then that is their prerogative, doesnt make much business sense but it is their business.

Yep and you can go put on your proper NASCAR approved underwear, and go buy a Ticket. I am not going to either race in my area..and guess what..that is MY ballpark.

I have to agree with you as, time and again, NASCAR makes it abundantly clear that they're going to do it their way regardless of how self-destructive they are

You mean like this.....

Perhaps some perspective here. This is what Dale Earnhardt Jr. had to say about racing at Talladega after last fall's big crash:
"If this is what we did every week, I wouldn't be doing it; I will just put it to you like that. If this is how we raced every week, I would find another job.
"That is what the package is doing. It's really not racing.
"It's a little disappointing how that all went down. That cost a lot of money right there.
"If this is how we are going to race, and that is how we are going to continue to race and nothing is going to change, I think NASCAR should build the cars. It would save us a lot of money.
"You just can't get away from each other that good.
"It's obvious. You saw the race, we tore up how many cars? (about 30)
"That is okay with everybody? That it is like that?
"It's not safe. Wrecking like that is ridiculous.
"It's blood-thirsty, if that is what people want. It's ridiculous.
"The way we are going ain't the right direction.

I'm sure that's not good enough either.

Actually I wear Roundtree & York. As I said before, I am not defending or attacking them, to me it is a non issue and yes I'll go to the races and enjoy myself immensely. Stay in the camper, eat food cooked under the awning, smiling at all the people scrambling to get into or out of the track, pat the wife on the butt, drink lots of bud light and think how good life really is, thats one of my sandboxes and I love it.

would those be boxers or briefs ?

just curious . . .

Im brand new here but didnt Jr go on a sudden vacation right after he said those things ??? I looked at the wife and even she knew they had dropped the hammer on the guy ....Heres another thing some might have seen and had a good laugh at during speed weeks that was proly Dennys first strike...When asked about Danica winning the pole he says Its destiny in a way that cracked me up...Lucky he didnt weigh in on her blown motor in Nationwide or he might be on vacation this week ....

Pemberton needs to take a few less laps around the buffet table.

This isnt debatable Nascar is run by a bunch of assholes.
Hamlin didnt say anyhing close to being offensive, he just failed to orally service Pemberton and company during the interview.

It is Nascars sandbox that only means they have the power but it doesnt spare them of being idiotic, or looking like insecure pieces of ****.
I hope Hamlin will stick with refusing to pay. Unfortunately getting supended will hurt him and his career, but I want to see Nascar endure all the bad PR that being a public a**hole will earn. I hope it will be costly, and that there stock along with Pemberton's and Brian's carreers goes to Hell.

Back to the interview Hamlin sounded reserved and more mature from past fines, the idiocy of the monent is purly manufactured by Nascar.

Denny needs NASCAR more than they need him. I don't think he said anything that warrented a fine but he be discussing things with NASCAR instead of shooting his mouth off to the press.

When the press asks about the race, every driver should respond "I need to talk to nascar first"?

What is it, they make the top five be available for interviews I think. Lets see..I want to thank my sponsor. blah blah blah, an Nascar blah blah. Just needed clean air, car ran great..smile..and done.

you don't know Clint. "Car is good. Real good. Everything is good. Can I go now? I'll be good".

Finishing in the top 5 required Denny to do post race interviews. He was in a damn if you do or damn if you dont. Next time he just needs to read a statement from a prepared index card, which no doubt would also warrant a fine.

But the most incredible point is the undying loyalty of many nascars fans. Nascar issues an assholic penalty, and the faithful defends the ruling power withkout fail. The needless submission screams.

The press does their job, they ask questions about the racing. The drivers answer the questions. Now, not only is NASCAR putting the drivers in a box, they're putting the press in a box where journalists are going to feel guilty if their question results in a driver being penalized. That's not good IMO.
