Hamlin - Logano apparently not over.

Looks to me like Denny turned left, trying to hook Joey after the initial contact - and missed.

Had Denny held his steering wheel hard left, he would have spun. But he tried to steer into the spin and when his car went straight, he hit the wall.

THE WALL is more like it. Not the puffy guard rail.

To Sliced Bread:

If you are the raging fan of Joey Logano that you say you are, why the frak do you still use a picture of the 20 car as your effing avitar? Is that because it is a pic of one of Joey's TWO CUP wins?

Matt Kenseth drives the 20 now, DOOFUS!!!:rolleyes:

Correct! He might have been OK if a SAFER barrier was there.
And he might have been OK if he had just spun the car.
Neither scenario was in play.
I hope he heals quickly!

Remember the chit fit Rick H threw when Gordon hit the wall at I think it was Vegas?

That was epic.

Wooooow you figured it out all bby yourself? Why yes that IS Joey after a win...o_O

Do they even have the SAFER barriers on the outside walls on all the tracks? I was watching an older Dayton 500 on YouTube and they only had them on the corners. I'm 90% sure Indy only has them on the corners as well.

YES! All bby myself! But c'mon. If you are a TRUE Joey fan, your profile pic should reflect current times - unless, of course, you prefer to dwell in the past...:rolleyes::rolleyes:

It was an epic hit! He was fortunate to walk away!
Vegas changed the emergency vehicle access path after his "encounter" with the inside wall.

I have seen them only in the corners at most tracks, and some on inside walls, I imagine as thet see fit.

Have you not been paying attention? The past does not matter!!!! It reflects nothing!!!! Only looking forward to the bright future ahead!!!!

. Look at the early careers of...well, most big name drivers in NASCAR. They all had there fair share of drama on their way to proving themselves in NASCAR. Why should Joey be any different?

Yes look at their careers. Most were in their late 20's with years of experience before they made it into the top tier of Nascar. Not a 18 year old kid who is still looking for his first pubic hair.

That..to me is just better for Joey, if he's going through these things now there's no saying how far he may go by the time he gets to that age. Or he could mess it all up and end up a memory. I doubt the latter. I never said that Joey is going to win the 2013 championship, I do think he'll make a good run at making the chase and win a couple races. I don't expect him to do great things next week. I just know the possibilities are limitless, he has almost 5 years experience and he's only 22. He could have another 30 years ahead of him and I do believe that he will eventually be one of the biggest names in the sport. Maybe not this year or next year, thats okay I think he's a great driver and I look forward too seeing if he can live up to it.

LOL at the 1:00 mark on the video - cut to the fans right when the big moment arrives. These days it would be some guy hitching his horses up to his pickup.

He'll be 52 then. Mark Martin is 54, I like Mark Martin, logano ain't no Mark Martin. lagano won't amount to much more than a pimple on Nascars' ass, if that.

I don't know if this rivalry is over but at some point Denny Hamlin needs to realize he can't keep doing this. First it was Brad Keselowski, now it's Logano and it looks like another rivalry has started with Dillon. There's always going to be a younger driver that's trying to prove they belong in the sport. Denny Hamlin will be 33 this year so he's 10 years older than Logano but he doesn't act like it. If he doesn't learn how to deal with these young drivers he's not going to achieve very many professional goals because they just keep coming like sharks' teeth.

Hamlin is a head case. I thought he was getting better, but this year proves different. In '09, he runs Kez over and gets a little bump under yellow from Brad (at Jr's request). He then over reacts and bends up his front end, starting the rivalry. Dillon bumps him to show displeasure, and Denny once again 'throws a cinder block'. Clint sure didn't put up with his crap in NW, but I guess the new guys have too without so much as a little complaint.

There's more behind this between Denny and Joey than either is saying. With Denny's ability to trash a driver over and over, he sure set Logano off. Being a wise ass after intentionally wrecking Logano (who Denny says had the fastest car) at Bristol was too much for anyone to take.

I'm not a Hamlin fan but I was amused when he called his move on Kez before the NW race, at the time Kez deserved it because he was running over some drivers at that stage of his career.

Going to be interesting to see who has more "friends".:)

Why is Denny so adamant that Joey take the blame for the incident?

"It wasn't, 'I'm sorry for running into you. I made a mistake,'" Hamlin said. "It was a, 'Hope you feel better. Hope you get to the track soon.' Eventually, you've got to take responsibility for your actions.

I have no doubt that Joey can be quite successful in CUP.
He was brought in way too early and teamed with a couple of self-absorbed teammates who offered him no guidance.
Now he is in a position where he has an owner who will gently kick him in the azz instead of arranging for a prayer circle.
And he has a teammate who is brash and cooperative. One who seems to be all about the ORGANIZATION. That's nothing but positive as I see it!
I see great things in the PENSKE organization's future!

I'm guessing it was because Joey drove into the left side of Denny's car on corner exit.

Denny tried to hold Joey down low. Whether that was because he chose to crowd the 22 to make him lift, or because Denny's spotter told him that the 18 was coming hard on the outside, we still don't know - and maybe never will. Denny should have known that Joey was not gonna effen lift!!

He would've been fine if he hadn't A) over-corrected to the left or B ) turned to the left to put Joey in the wall after initial contact.

My sediments exactly! Denny tried to hook the right rear of the 22 as it was going by, and he missed. Had Denny held his wheel hard left he would have spun the car and most likely he would not have made head-on contact with the inside wall.

Denny did not try to "hook" Joey, he was simply trying to save his car after Joey ran him over.
You guys are stuck on the slo-mo video. It actually happened in a fraction of a second, way too quickly for Denny to think and process turning the 22 after the initial plowing.

That's the way I see it. Logano was out to make a point and win, and so was Denny. It's actually Hamlin who slide jobs Logano first and Logano made a great move and broke low and passed both cars. I wonder if Kyle wasn't outside, would Logano have turned Hamlin right there? It would have been the perfect payback for Bristol. When Hamlin followed Logano into 3 and held him down on exit, I knew there would be contact. All the contact was minor until Hamlin turns hard left and wrecks them both. I don't really blame Hamlin for fighting back, but he should have concentrated on winning rather than making a point. He knew he had worked hard to piss Logano off, so staying away would have been wise.

I never heard the in-car audio for the 11 but Logano's spotter gave him constant updates on where the 18 was running—of course there wasn't much he could do about it in turn 3 because Denny Hamlin was there but I keep wondering why the 11 didn't stay high to block the 18? It just seems like the 11 was more concerned with beating Logano than actually winning the race. Even after both cars made contact it looked like Hamlin was more concerned with wrecking Logano than getting a top-5 finish. I know drivers don't have much time to react in those situations so maybe Hamlin was so focused on the 22 that he couldn't check his mirror for the 18? The other possibility is that Hamlin was raging against Logano in that moment and would rather beat him to the finish line than win the race.

That's how I see it Slug. Hamlin should have been running the top instead of following Logano down to the bottom. He knew Logano was still pissed, so holding him down on exit was a bad idea.

Until he costs BK a win. Then he'll be no better off than before and fade away.

Mark Martin just made some interesting comments on Logano. He doesn't feel he's out there looking for trouble, but he's been in a few dust ups. Mark feels that is simply because Logano is now racing hard like he's supposed to, and nothing more.

'Cept I think Joey is driving over his head a lot of the time. The only thing that saves his ass is that he's doing it in top equipment by guys that build and set up competitive race cars. I don't think Joey has the skills yet to get the most out of a car that isn't handling well. Can't wait for Sunday :D

Even if he didn't try to, he still could've kept it in line. He was alright and then turned sharply left and that caused the wreck.

You must've seen a different video than did I.
The video I saw showed Joey getting loose on the bottom, trying to hold his line, and blasting into the left side of the 11. Which is exactly what I saw from my grandstand seat at the race.

Joey certainly got into the door of Denny and moved him up the track. But Joey had it saved and for a brief moment Denny looked like he did too but he then turned left into Joey's RR. That's how I saw it.
