SuperTex, I'm reading a book right now on the the life of AJ Foyt. It's called [A.J. The Life Of America's Greatest Race Car Driver] by William Neely. It is a very interesting book and it covers AJ all the way back to his childhood.

The dont want to win list
-Marco
-Dario
-Helio Nopayhistaxes

Never have cared for Marco, dont want Dario, or Helio to get four wins.
AJ and Bobby Unser drove cars that were beast. They had to fight death harder, check the old photos, a man had to be insane to drive one of them.

Rooting for Tony Kanann
A.J.Dinger
and the godaddy car.

I cracked up last weekend when Robin Miller asked Sato what A.J. calls him. A match made in heaven I guess.

Conor Daly, not so much. That kid's got too much pride.

I'm going to talk like Leigh Diffey all race long since the race isn't on NBC.

I wonder if a Honder can win. Savader, Simoner and Servier could be underdogs in Sunday's race.

So with all the formations, splits, bankruptcies and merges, Allmendinger is in the rookie class.

Just at Indy, because he never raced in an IndyCar there. IndyCar inherited the CART record book, so he's a rookie in the series, just at the Indy 500.

I've always been a Kanann fan. I've never cared for Marco but he is getting better so I'm paying attention. I get a kick out of Manica in the Go Daddy car. And I'd like to see Simona and the Dinger do well. I guess I don't dislike any of the usual suspects that run up front, I just want to see a good race.

If it's anything like last year's race I'll be more than satisfied. Seeing so many lead changes and passes at Indy was incredible.

Right on.

Well, I'll be cheering for him. Go AJ!

Simona is terrible on ovals, I wouldn't expect too much from her (Romancini was 13th and thus 2010 ROTY on track). Tony Kanaan is due some good luck at Indy.

If there are a low number of yellows it may come down to fuel strategy, in which case I'd place my bets on Dario\TCGR.

I think you are right. I hope fuel strategy doesn't come into play late in the race.

Correct.

The actual line-up and speeds of the first three rows are entirely different from what he posted.

I was going off of the original speeds didn't notice the site I got the speeds was prior to the Fast 9 shootout. Great Carb Day today, that Indy Lights finish was amazing. Dempsey, Chaves, Karam, Munoz, Hawksworth, and Veach all have great potential to be successful drivers in the Indycar Series in the future. I wouldn't be surpirsed if a couple of them have a full time ride next year.

'Knockout' qualifying has no business at Indy. As long as I'm in curmudgeon mode, why the hell can't they open up Turn 4 for Return of the Snake Pit? Are they afraid someone will mess up the kitty litter?

I agree with everyone about the incredible finish in the Lights race today. Hard to believe the track is that wide!

Wunderground is showing a slight (30%) chance of thunderstorms in Speedway on Sunday. Fingers crossed here...

But it's just once a year.

My father and I were just racing fans - Dad ran a gas station/repair shop. He knew cars.

I remember sitting out under the shade tree and listening to the 500 on the battery powered radio. Dad would track the drivers on his clipboard. We always pulled for A.J.

As far as tomorrow's race goes - I think Almendinger has a real chance. His car is fast and I think his NASCAR experience will serve him well (understanding that it's 500 miles).

GO A.J. !!!!

any other picks?

We do have an open wheel section but I'm cool with it here. not a mod of course lol.

I say Carlos Munoz repeats history and wins like his countryman JPM did 13 years ago.

My father used to haul us boys to the races on a routine basis. When I was younger, I didn't care much for the 500 because it was about half a lifetime. As I grew older I really enjoyed going to Indy.

What 12 or 13 year old kid wouldn't enjoy women who are drunk and half naked...

I will be working tomorrow and making double time and a half. ;)

Weather.com is saying 40% chance of rain now.

Charlie Kimball was unable to participate in todays parade because he was sick. He suffers from diabetes so I am wondering if he can be healthy enough to go 500 miles tommarow.

When I was a kid, when Memorial Day wasn't a "Monday Holiday" and always fell on May 30th, my dad would usually put the screens up on the windows of our house while listening to the 500 on the radio.

He'd have the sports section of the newspaper that listed the lineup and, as drivers dropped out of the race, he drew a line through their name.

I'd love to see Allmendinger win.

Anybody but Marco

Since my birthday is May 30, the real Memorial Day, my dad told me for years that the race was held to celebrate MY birthday! I believed him for a long, long time. LOL
I wish they'd go back to holding it on the real Memorial Day --- no matter the day of the week.

That weather front passed through NE Illinois pretty quickly this afternoon (Saturday) and dropped a lot less rain than the radar indicated, so it shouldn't impact the race too much. Fingers will be crossed here, anyway.

This will be Charlie Kimball's third 500, last year (0r could've been '11) they showed in detail how he takes precautions before the race (any race), and how they deal with anything unplanned. He should be fine.

I like Hinch at 10-1, but Briscoe at 40-1 looks verrrrry tempting. Plus if he wins, Nicole happy dance! Oh wait, she's going to be in Charlotte isn't she? Damn!

Is that so you'll always remember your birthday ;)

It looks like Brad Keselowoski is at the Indy 500. I wonder how many other cup drivers are attending it.

Happy Birthday a few days early.
:birthday:

Saavedra looks like such a character.

Tony Kanaan looks like he's in a bad mood.

Damn Time Warner Cable is down AGAIN!
Apparently there are massive outages right now throughout the nation.
Time Warner Cable sucks.

She has some pretty big shoes to fill if we compare her to the likes of Chris Economaki, Jim Mcay, Brent Musburger, Bob Jenkins, Marty Ried, Jerry Punch, and the all time voice of Indy, Tom Carnegie. I can still hear the words from Carnegie "it's a new track record" just like it was yesterday.

Mine works fine. God help them if I couldn't see the Indy 500.
