Interest builds around possible changes to NASCAR schedule

Bomb Texas and bring back Chicago. Texas is the only track that has no redeeming qualities. Impossible to pass, PJ1 permanently stuck on the pavement, awful attendance. Even everyone’s favorite to hate on, Pocono, is unique, fills at least 75% of the seats and actually has a good race about 1 out of every 5.

I love this post ha ha. I wish Chicagoland would come back. I do think Texas can be saved if...they do what they were gonna do to Fontana just do it to Texas. I think a Texas short track would save the place and bring fans back too.

Be careful.about Texas attendance...
You'll be labeled a " doom and gloomer"...

I noticed during the broadcast last night, the booth made it a point to talk about how Texas is such a great place to watch a race because of the beautiful facilities, blah blah blah. If the product on the track is no good, it's all irrelevant.

Something needs to change with Texas. After 25 years of mediocre to bad racing, enough is enough. Do something different with the banking or configuration, or take it off the Cup schedule altogether.

I disagree that Texas was bad before the reconfiguration. Burton vs Kenseth in 07, Brad vs Jimmie in 2012?, Sadler and Kahne in 04. There’s been some good racing there before.

Sure, a few fun moments in 25 years. They haven't all been bad, and certainly not as bad as last night overall. But generally speaking, Texas has consistently been one of the most underwhelming races on the schedule. Just my opinion.

They made the track worse when they reconfigured turns 1 and 2 (made it wider and flatter) and started using traction compound. They even ruined it for the IndyCar series, which was one of the best tracks on their schedule.

Chicago never put on a good race even 1 out of 5 it was like 2 out of 19

Dale Jr 2005
Jeff Gordon 2006
Kyle Busch 2008
Kyle Busch 2018
Alex Bowman 2019

All great finishes and good races overall.

I know I’m forgetting a few, Chicago is underrated. Texas wasn’t bad before the reconfiguration.

No one gave 2 ****s about Chicago until it was gone. It should stay gone.

was sold out for years just like every other track. I could give a ****less I just find it ironic what people don’t like.

Because you’re negative
I'm Luke literally one of the most positive NASCAR people in here...I just don't like a track that I've not liked for 20 years and that makes me negative.

You just said you don’t like it. just because you don’t like a track doesn’t mean the racing has been bad or there’s bias. I don’t like Kansas Speedway but I’m not gonna act like the race there a couple weeks ago was bad

Anyway I heard a rumor it’s replacing a Phoenix race and people have been complaining about Phoenix even though it’s unique.

Chicagoland replacing Phoenix???

I think we were hoping it would replace another cookie cutter race that has 2 dates. But Steve Phelps loves to gamble, eat, drink, play at Hollywood Casino.
Harrah’s in downtown Joliet isn’t too far from the track. Maybe a 15 min drive with parking. I’ve spent many a night there. Maybe Steve can peruse it on race weekend.

Yeah but Hollywood Casino has their hands tied with ISC/NASCAR. It’s an okay casino, I don’t think they realize I might support it if it was once a year.

I think Hollywood is also in Joliet too.

Isn't it about time they release this dag gone schedule?
I made reservations for Atlanta next year based on what some internet expert predicted.

It’s all hearsay at this point. NASCAR/ISC likes the Chicago market but obviously isn’t too concerned about Chicagoland back yet.
