Almost time for some restrictor plate, bump drafting, 2 wide 3 wide OOOH **** WIDE Racing!!! :D
or maybe some inline, team orders, drop to the back safety, team orders due to the Championship racing :(

Speaking of Championship Kevin Harvick, Carl Edwards, Kurt Busch, Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon, Matt Kenseth Kyle Busch and yes even JR have had Top 5's at the plate tracks this year!
Butt I think they'll all play it safe and ride around this Sunday. This race is going to one of the guys who has nothing to loose! Maybe Trevor Bayne, Kasey Kahne, David Ragan, Joey Lagano or Regan Smith can pull one off.

OR has NASCAR messed with the restrictor plates and stuff enough we'll have something entirely different?????
Thursdays will see FI Cup cars on the track should be interesting :growl:

I am so tempted to jump in the truck and head down to Dega. Free camping and some dirt cheap ticket packages make this look real good.

Harvick sucks in Cup and can only win in Nationwide and Trucks. Stewart's too fat to win the race and stay in contention and Martin's too old to race.

(Let's see if this works)

Whether it's been a spread out field, one large pack or two car tandems Talladega has always been a favorite of mine. I hope to make it down there some day. I'm looking forward to the proposed giveaway of $100,000.00 to the driver that leads the most times if there are 100+ lead changes in the race. I can't wait to see how this one unfolds point wise. I am hoping some tempers flare after the race and they will be ready to get even when I get to Martinsville the next week. :growl:

Enjoy those nasty ass hot dogs when you get there.

Following the recent loss of Dan Wheldon I'm thinking the drivers are going to be subdued and very cautious.

I was thinking we might see alot of conservative racing given the fact they are going to be driving so close just one week after that horrible accident. But when it comes down to about 10 to go it will probably get really wild.

Kasey had a car that could have won Daytona in july and he's run well at Dega as of late I think he breaks through this time. Either that or Dave Blaney wins.:D

LMFAO You notice I hardly ever mention my favorites before a race, but your idea is an entirely different tactic!

If your a Racecar driver and let that stuff get in your head, Stay the Hell Outta The Car!

cars are apples and oranges

I've almost started a thread on the IRL incedent several times and keep stopping myself.....in my opinion the safety aspect of NASCAR CUP cars is lightyears ahead of the IRL/Indy cars Hell even Sprint cars have surpased the IRL.
Done with that subject for now.....maybe.

80% "meat", 10% saw dust, 10% food coloring. Topped with "Chili", onions and slaw.

80% meat! Man, they sure got you fooled. There's 80% of something in there but it sure as heck ain't meat.

Looks damn good FlFlash! Last thing I have to say on the Martinsville Dog, as this is a Talladega thread..... The best thing about a Martinsville Dog is that you are sitting in the stands @ Martinsville eating it.

Agreed. Heck, many of these guys were taking laps @ full song yesterday in between media interviews about Dan Wheldon. When they strap in the car they'll be thinking about the matter at hand. This is what they do. They risk their lives every week for our viewing pleasure. They know the risks and they know the rewards. It seems that the rewards far exceed the risk in their minds. I don't think that they will be taking it easy this weekend. I think the only change that we'll see at Talladega this weekend is whatever the rule changes have brought forth.

If there is a big multi car crash or a car goes upside down this weekend you can guarantee it will end up with the media turning against the entire sport of auto racing and not just Indycars

I'm not looking forward to Talladega or any other plate racing. It's a crapshoot and the best car rarely wins. Tandem racing is not entertaining. I don't like plate racing but I liked it better when there were two or three long trains as opposed to the two-car draft.

Factoid: Jr. is the only driver in NASCAR history to win four Cup races in a row at 'dega. 2001-2003.

Factoid: Jimmie won the last race by .002 seconds. That's a CLOSE finish (I'm sure you all remember it).

Factoid: Jeff Gordon leads current drivers with total wins at 'dega with 6. Jr. has 5 wins there. Of the other Chasers Jimmie has two wins, Brad has one, Kevin has one, Tony has one and Kyle has one win.

My prediction? Anyone can win it that doesn't start-and-park.

I have always enjoyed the plate tracks because of how unpredictable they are....but the last three with that 2X2 crap just gets on my last nerve....

All those numbers and Sr's 10 wins and 60% top 10 finish show running well at Talladega isn't just a crapshoot. I really like Kez's chances since he has found more friends in the garage to work with.

I know the Indy cars and Nascar cars are completely different but I'm still not looking forward to this weekend and I really don't want to hear them talk about "waiting for the big one" throughout the whole race.

Let's face it though, the "Big One" brings ratings and fans. I NEVER like to see a driver get hurt, but crashes are entertaining. People like crashes as long as everyone walks away. It's part of the sport.

Its amazing how a fast car can Win you Friends at some tracks and enemies at other's.

We'll see who has the fast car in practice and qualifying and See how many "buddy's" he suddenly has. It's been 9 months and I'm still very impressed with the Wood Bro's and Trevor Bayne at the Daytona 500....... boy did they make Friends Fast!

You're right Bucky, the cars are apples and oranges but you never know..

I'm a former driver and you don't dwell on incidents like this most recent one but if you ignore it and go merrily on your way maybe you shouldn't be in a car.

That was a perfect storm for Trevor. He made friends with Jeff Gordon, had a Ford that could push all day, and suddenly he was the driver to team up with.

When is the last time we saw a big one? 2 years ago? Or at least one year?

Since 2 by 2 racing started, I can't remember a 15 car pile up like used to happen every year. Till Gordon started crying about guys pushing in the corners. Then we got a parade. Does anybody remember that snooze fest?

I think you're right but that doesn't stop them from mentioning it every couple of minutes.

I don't think anything bad is gonna happen this weekend but personally I'm just not in the mood for this race. I'll still watch it but I'm just very eh about it this weekend.

Just a question..... How many cars have to be involved in a wreck before it is labeled the 'big one'? Or..... Is it like porn, you know it when you see it?

I'm glad we agree. I've always beleived if you start thinking about what could go wrong....it will.... and of course you don't Ignore an incedent You Try and Learn from it.

Yeah, that was THE most boring parade I've ever seen. All of the floats looked the same, and there were no pretty girls.

I still recall the announcers yelling "Here's the BIG one" only to be let down by a single car sliding to the infield.

The 2 car draft is much less of a crap shoot, and it saves about $3 million on equiptment. I didn't like that teams got better with cooling and the switch didn't get a chance to develop. I hope the new rules get the drivers back to perfecting the switch. I think it could make for some very exciting passing and fighting back and forth for the lead.

I think the $100K is to keep drivers from riding around the back for most of the race, something the 7 or 8 guys still in it will probably opt for anyway.

I guess some people need to watch a movie to know it when they see it. ;)
