Jim France stepping down.

I was always a big Jim France supporter, but his handling of the IMSA-Grand Am merger really soured me on him, and as far as I'm concerned, his tenure heading NASCAR was a HUGE disappointment. As far as I'm concerned, he will not be missed as far as his current role is concerned. I have not been a big O'Donnell fan, but after listening to his appearance on DBC, at least it seems like he is saying some of the right things, and it least with him you don't have somebody born on third base that thinks he hit a triple. I'm willing to give the man some leash. Whether he hangs himself with it will be up to him.

IMO I don’t see this as a long term benefit for Nascar. They need a strong leader that will make the best decisions based on what's best for the sport, not pressure from fans and owners. I don't see anyone in the new leadership that will do that

Oh I think O'Donnell knows how nuts some of the fan base is. He went into it pretty well on Jr's door bumper clear show. I don't think the flying monkeys are going to be much of an influence going forward.
Kennedy is good people. The Colosseum was his baby, Chicago street race, Mexico City, Bowman Grey.

PPP Loans during Covid.
NASCAR teams received Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans during the COVID-19 pandemic to help cover payroll and operating expenses amid event cancellations and revenue losses. The loans were part of a federal stimulus effort, and while the four major North American sports leagues did not apply, many individual NASCAR teams did.

Approved recipients included championship-winning and well-known teams such as Richard Childress Racing, Roush Fenway Racing, Richard Petty Motorsports, Jimmie Johnson Racing, Kyle Busch Motorsports, and Jeff Gordon Inc. The data released in July 2020 showed these teams were approved for substantial loans, though exact amounts were not disclosed due to federal reporting in ranges. It is unclear which teams ultimately accepted the funds.

  • Loans were intended for payroll, rent, and fixed expenses, with forgiveness contingent on use for those purposes.
  • Pocono Raceway also was approved for a loan between $350,000 and $1 million.
  • Team Penske was not listed, likely because it exceeded size eligibility requirements.

Much better to keep 1000's of businesses solvent and paychecks coming in than spending 2 billion a day in the Middle East.
