Kenseth?

Can you send me a pair of those Best Buy blinders?

Why does everyone think that their driver is incapable of doing anything wrong on a racetrack?

Nice little job of trying to make it look like I said Kenseth can do no wrong. I'm well aware of what I say on here and any other place - can you make the same claim?

So, if you have some proof of where I have ever said that any driver is "incapable of doing anything wrong on a racetrack", please provide it.

I can't really see him with another team really. I think he'd make a good driver for Home Depot but I don't know how he'd fit in with Denny and Kyle over there. I also don't see him going to a place like Ganassi. About the only one I can realistically see besides Roush is Childress. Didn't we go through this with his last contract negotiation not that long ago? Maybe he just likes us to think he's heading elsewhere

The best driver all year should win the championship. They could give a million points for winning and it still wouldn't improve the racing. Everyone knows they just have to stay in the top 10 for those 26 races.

Wrong! If the drivers knew they had to have a win to contend for the title, the racing would be over the top.

Would you be okay with someone winning 10 races and finishing outside the top-30 for ten races beating a guy who finishes in the top-ten for 36 races because of an artificial points system?

Any points system is "artificial."

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

And he deserved to win the championship that year. Best driver all year long, even if he did wreck Harvick a few times to get it done.

That's neat how you did that Andy . You gave him a compliment on one hand , then told a big fat lie on the other hand . Readers wouldn't even notice they were getting screwed .:D

LOL. I went and checked. Harvick was running at the finish of all 36 races in 2003 so I guess he couldn't have been wrecked too badly.

You know ,people make these wild statements as if they were fact , every day in this forum . Noone ever checks them out . I just assumed it wasn't true . Thanks for checking .

Typical, some one ask for some claims to be supported or verified with factual references, and you just crow out more snark, as if the noise equals substance.

Didn't Childress just lose Bowyer for lack of sponsors ? He's no better off than Roush.

Clint just won his 6th career victory I believe yesterday. Matt's a much higher caliber driver than him. I don't know how much of a case this is over lack of sponsorship either. Matt explored lots of options the last time also.

If he doesnt have to pay an agent, he should be able ask a lower price than someone like Edwards.

If I remember correctly, there weren't any real options for Matt and Biffle last time around. I'm not sure there are many now, but Jack can't run that program out of his pocket much longer than this year.

Shell/Pensoil might want him at Penske .

That would be a fit as some drivers have contracts with manufacturers. Kenseth is under contract with Ford through 2013.

Although I'm not hoping to see Kenseth anyplace other than RFR, it's always interesting to see what a "top" driver driver can do in less than "top" equipment so he may end up with Petty.

I don't see him leaving RFR either , but kudos to Matt for stirring the pot . Now is definitely the time to be seeing what is out there for next year . He is getting Roush , other owners , and sponsors to have a look . Make something happen....right ?

Between Best Buy, Zest, Ford and 5th 3rd bank the total # of races not filled for 2012 is 8. I don't think this is a case of sponsorship or Jack Roush not being able to run the car. This is what Matt did last time when it was rumored he was out and heading to JGR. I think he stays.

Are they all on for next year?

Best Buy is closing stores, I don't think they'd be interested in any further sponsorship ventures.

btw, letting people know you might be interested in moving on is sometimes a good way to get a raise/better contract.:)

Of all the teams I heard that roush takes the biggest cut in souvenir sales. True?

If ford wants to keep him so bad then step up and sponsor him.

Kenseth out of #17, Stenhouse in for 2013.

The Associated Press is reporting Kenseth to Gibbs, unclear if he's going to the #20 or a fourth JGR ride.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. to Drive for Roush Fenway in Sprint Cup Series in 2013

CONCORD, N.C. (June 26, 2012) -- Roush Fenway Racing announced today that 2011 NASCAR Nationwide Series champion Ricky Stenhouse Jr. will compete for the team full-time in NASCAR Sprint Cup Series competition beginning in 2013, while Matt Kenseth and Roush Fenway will part ways at the conclusion of the 2012 season.

“Ricky Stenhouse Jr. has more than proved his abilities on the race track,” said team co-owner Jack Roush. “We feel that he is not only a key piece of our team’s future, but a key piece of the future of the sport. Roush Fenway is an organization with a wonderful past and present, as well as an extremely promising future, and I can’t think of a better candidate than Ricky to usher in the next era of success for the team.

“Of course, I’d like to thank Matt Kenseth for his many years of loyal service,” added Roush. “Matt has been an integral part of this organization for well over a decade, and we are extremely appreciative of his accomplishments and contributions to the team, and will always consider him a part of the Roush Fenway family.

“We’re fortunate that we were able to tap into Matt’s potential and bring him on board many years ago, and I’m proud that together we were able to combine the tools and the resources of Roush Fenway with his talent and determination to forge a partnership that yielded a championship at the Cup level and all of his 22 Cup victories, including two Daytona 500 wins,” continued Roush. “The No. 17 is positioned extremely well this season, and I’m committed to providing the team the best resources to continue their run for the 2012 championship. I have no doubt that Matt will do his part.”

“Matt and I broke into this sport together, learned the ropes and were able to bring home a championship,” said Roush Fenway general manager Robbie Reiser, who as crew chief of the No. 17 guided Kenseth to Roush Fenway’s first Sprint Cup title in 2003 before moving into his current role. “Over the 20 years we have worked with each other, Matt has been a fierce competitor and become a close friend, not only for me, but as a mentor to young drivers like Ricky. I wish Matt nothing but the best for the next phase of his career, and know that we’ll remain close.”

Stenhouse Jr. is one of three drivers currently in development for Roush Fenway Racing. Trevor Bayne, the 2011 Daytona 500 champion and Chris Buescher, who has won seven races in only 42 starts in ARCA competition are also being groomed for Sprint Cup competition for Roush Fenway in the future.

“We take great pride in the depth of the bench here,” noted team president Steve Newmark. “The organization’s ability to identify and develop new talent is part of our DNA and a cornerstone of our success. I’m excited about the opportunity to bring Ricky into the Sprint Cup Series and get him into victory lane. He has an incredible opportunity to continue his winning ways, just as Matt did nearly 15 years ago.”

Thanks for posting Andy. I'm a little surprised by this. Seems this silly season starts earlier and earlier. I guess he's leaving so that shoots my other posts to crap. :D

Starts earlier and earlier, because it isn't as easy for these teams to line up sponsors. I am sure JGR is scrambling for a sponsor so they can bring in Matt plus keep JLo.

Are they all on for next year?

I missed place my folder with all the copies of Sponsorship contracts, so I don't know. I was pointing out that Jack wasn't running the 17 out of his pocket this year. Obviously there's plans to continue running the car in 2013 just without Kenseth. With the economy and the sponsorship problems, you'd think the veterans and accomplished drivers would be desired. I just wonder what kind of an impact this will have on the team the rest of the year.

wow. This came to a very big surprise to me. It seemed like he would spend his whole career at RFR.

Kenseth wins a championship and two Daytona 500s for Roush and he's first to get the boot. Meanwhile, Greg Biffle, who has accomplished next to nothing on the Cup side, still has a ride.

Couldn't agree more with this. I can't wait till the day Biffle loses his ride and is done in the Cup series.

Kenseth goes in the #20 car Joe Gibbs Racing. Joey Logano moves to Nationwide full time. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. gets the #6 car at Roush in Cup.

No way Joey goes back to NNS full time. He has proven himself this year to be a Cup driver. I think JGR goes to a 4th team.

Big surprise for sure GreenRacing , and welcome to the forum . This matches the surprise of Mark Martin leaving Roush . Both were supposed to be lifers there . Makes me think , maybe it's not the best place to work .

You realize that Kenseth isn't getting the boot, right? Looks to be more of a Kenseth decision to me. Maybe that's just me?

That's the way understand it too, but hey why let facts hinder a gripe.

I don't see in that article where it indicates one way or another why he's departing RFR:confused:

I guess JGR? is waving more cash. I hope so for Matt, he is the epitome of a blue collar racer imo. Not a lot of flash or bling and no initialized gold teeth, but seriously very efficient.

Good for a title, and big ones like the 500.

But imo on a performance level, I think staying with Rousch would been the better option. He is established there and performing well, now its off to getting reestablished after 40th birthday.

I think JGR is a good fit for talent needing pacifiers, and those with issues. Hopefully Kenseth will blend in with the circus.
Home Depot would be crazy to pass on Kenseth and keep Logano. But I do hope that they can put together a deal to keep Logano . I think he is just starting to realize his potential if not, a big time deal is going to be tough to find. Not enough seats, too many drivers.

Maybe Gnassi will be the best shot he gets.
