Kyle Busch Speeding Ticket

The fact is though that he won't. None of the others caught before did, he won't and the ones that get caught after him won't. No "celebrity" is ever treated the same as us mere mortals.

Just look and Lindsay Lohan and you have proof of that.

Anywho, a 26 year old guy should know doing 128MPH on the road is a bad idea. It has nothing to do with WHO done it, I'd say the same thing if it were Stewart or Harvick.

You are right. As a 40+ year old female I know it's a bad idea. At the same time though I have done the same thing.
I think we can all look back and see where we did things that were not a good idea, but we still done it.
IMO you can only truly criticize someone when you yourself has not done the same thing. And I'd be willing to bet very few, if any, people in here have not drove above the speed limit before.

I've driven faster than that on the roads before. But that was when I was much younger. But I tried to do that on open roads where there wasn't much traffic or places for other cars to pull into my path.

My guess is he wanted to take this car out for a spin, wanted to see what it would do, got on it, and was up to that speed in no time and was busted. He probably wasn't even a 1/4 mile from where he started when he got to that speed. I doubt he was traveling at those speeds for a long period of time (i.e. 2-5 minutes). I just think people are making a bigger deal of this than it needs to be.

You're right, I've never drove 128mph in a 45mph zone before, so Yay!

*throw stones*

Well I've gone 140 in a 60 zone so I'm not going to judge the kid on this. I can't believe how much chatter this has generated. Let it rest already.

Mine wasn't in a 45 either.
So are you saying you have never drove above the speed limit?

As a pilot, they tend to really empathize safety when you operate an aircraft, and that kinda spills over into other parts of your life.

It's strictly the guys who don't like the guy carrying it on. That's all.

Me and my car club did a fun run in central Texas where 9 of us did 64 miles in 20 minutes. So at one stretch we were doing like 130 in a 55 speed zone.

Hell back in the 70s and early 80s when the speed limit all over the US was 55 I never did 55. My and all my friends theme song was Sammie Hagar's "I cant drive 55".

It's one thing when people are sitting here saying he's young therefor he's entitled to make stupid mistakes.

Sorry, there's a difference between 18 and 26, a big difference. This just proves Kyle will never mature -- he's a spoiled little punk brat who thinks he can do whatever he wants.

What do you think they should have done? Its not an offense he can be put in jail for, unless he refuses to sign the ticket, and until he goes to court and appears in front of a judge.

If he were in VA and was in front of the right judge, he'd be looking a going to jail for day equal to how many MPH's over 100 he did.

Getting a speeding ticket in Virginia will set anyone's speeding habits straight, quickly. My ticket was $320 for 66 in a 55 (on I-95, being passed by cars on the left lane)... last time I ever went above the posted speed limit in Virginia.

But seeing as Kyle's, well, a celebrity, any fine he gets will be chump change and he won't see the inside of a jail cell... this is why celebrities never learn, the financial punishment is nothing to them.

Joe Gibbs Racing: We are working on a punishment for Kyle Busch.

I don't see why Gibbs should punish him. Just like not having anything to do with Nascar, it had nothing to do with Gibbs. At least I assume he did this during his private time.

Probably depends on your attitude in front of the judge and/or the cop. My son was busted going 76 in a 60. They dropped it down so it was less than 15 over. He did have a fine, but that was it. My daughter, same thing. But went in with a respectable attitude, and ended up with no penalty at all.

That's the difference between being a NASCAR driver who is in the spotlight and being Joe Blow. Other drivers have been reprimanded in the past for their actions in personal time (in one drivers case, fired even though all charges against him were dropped) and nobody cared then.

It just seems to me a lot of people think this is no big deal because they have their lips planted firmly around Kyle's dick.

And in many jobs, you can be reprimanded for a speeding ticket. In 2008, I was driving to Philadelphia on a weekend, and I got a speeding ticket (72 in a 65) in Catonsville and a driving on a suspended. Took care of everything, went to court and had all the charges dropped with exception to the speeding ticket... went to work the next morning, got called to central office and was reprimanded for that speeding ticket.

Do you seriously even think before you type?

Damn now f*cking PC has creeped into NA$CAR.

I remember going to teen court while in HS in Houston the judge asked this kid had he learned his lesson about speeding and would he ever speed again. The kid said "hell I'll probably speed on the way home". Even the judge laughed.

I don't agree with that. I think most people realize not everybody is perfect and they do stupid things.

Man Jimmy Johnson got thrown off the top of a golf car drunk a couple years ago and didnt catch the kind of crap this dude is catching. And he actually hurt himself i think he broke his wrist. Did actual harm being stupid and didnt hardly catch any crap. Id like to see the number of times the phrase "Could of" or the word "IF" have been used in this thread. It was a traffic violation that he got busted for big deal. Sun still rises every morning.

Jimmie hurt himself. Kyle's actions were beyond stupid -- they were reckless and dangerous. I don't care what kind of driver you are, you have no time to react driving at 128mph. He could've killed somebody.

I'm not saying I've never gone for joyrides or anything, but the fastest I've ever gone was 100 mph and that was on a closed circuit dragstrip, not a county road.

I've had one speeding ticket dropped entirely, four charges dropped down to one $80 fine and one violation not placed on my record.

A $360 ticket will change anyones attitude, unless that's like dropping pennys in a bucket to them.

Oh good lord, seriously. This whole "he coulda killed somebody" crap is just that...crap. Melodramatic BS.

Y'all Kyle Busch haters need to get over yourselves. Continue to boo him, continue to hate him, whatever. But realize that speeding down an empty county road in a car that's made for it nothing more than that, and something that thousands of car guys have done over they years. Some get busted, some don't.

Jeez, bunch of panzy-assed, self-righteous whiners on this board.

It's not "melodramatic BS", it's "fact".

He could've killed somebody.

Is there even any data to support that going 128 in a 45 has caused more deaths than people going the speed limit or the speed the do gooders in this thread would be going? Or is it pure speculation.?

So worrying about the safety of Kyle and anyone else who might've been on the road makes people a panzy-assed self-righteous whiner?

Your employer should castrate you four times and then fire you. You should be placed on the repeat offenders list and you should lose the right to drive for seven hundred years.

You could have killed baby seals and destroyed the ecosystem.

:D

I stand by what I said. Seriously, how many people do you think have gotten in a bad fast car, been on an empty country road and said to themselves "lets see what this thing'll do..." Plenty. And plenty have not been caught, plenty have been been caught. There have been deaths too. But guess what, it will still happen, and the only reason y'all are so up in arms is because you don't like Kyle.

I guess you think Smokey and the Bandit, Cannonball Run, Dukes of Hazzard, et al, should all be banned because the actions they portray "might kill somebody."

Again, car guys have been doing this kind of stuff for year, and will continue to do stuff like this for years.

Get over yourselves....

The serious gearhead locals around here stage street races at remote locations every weekend just as they've done since cars were invented. Car guys race around in fast cars that's all there is to it. NOTHING is ever going to change that, not laws, not cops, not wrecks, not anything.

FACT: Driving faster greatly reduces your reaction time.

Last time I checked those are movies with stunt drivers in a controlled environment not just out in public.

Whatever? What they portray is fast driving on public roads.. And when you can counter what I say about countless gear heads driving fast on country roads, I'll listen to any argument you come up with.

STATEMENT: The following is a statement from Kyle Busch: "Today I received a traffic citation in Iredell County. I was test driving a new sports car and I got carried away. I went beyond the speed I should have been going on a public road. I apologize to the public, my fans, sponsors, and race teams for my lack of judgment. I take responsibility for my actions and I can assure you that something like this will never happen again. I thank the Iredell County Sheriff's Department and all law enforcement for the hard work they do every day to protect the public and to enforce the laws in a fair and equitable manner."(KBM)(5-25-2011)
UPDATE: Busch was driving a yellow Lexus LFA sports car, and his wife, Samantha, was a passenger. A spokesman for JGR said the organization was aware of the incident and was looking into it. According to the N.C. Department of Motor Vehicles website, Busch could lose his driver's license for at least 60 days with a conviction. That would not affect his NASCAR career, however. Competitors in NASCAR need a license from the organization but not a state driver's license to compete. NASCAR spokesman Kerry Tharp said the speeding ticket does not violate the probation Busch received from the sanctioning body for a pit road altercation at Darlington, S.C., this month. "This is a matter that Kyle will have to handle with the authorities in Iredell County," Tharp said. "Based on what we know right now, this would not impact his status as a NASCAR driver."(Charlotte Observer and a poll at WSOC)(5-25-2011)

is there anything more phony than statements attributed to athletes that have been crafted by public relations firms?

who buys that crap? certainly not kyle busch. hell, i'd like him even less if i thought he would actually say something like that.

are we, the audience, really seen as that dumb?
