I know it's only the first race....but did they bring this kid up too fast?......See Joey for example

Difficult to say after only 5 races. At least it is for me.

Yep, over his head and trying too hard, but this sport now requires instant results or you'll be looking for work. Unless you have a big sponsor you bring to the party.

I wouldn't count him out so soon... Daytona is different, he blew a tire and still could have had a decent race after that if not for Austin Dillon... Still cant figure out ho he ended up top 10 lol

I wouldn't expect him to set the world on fire...

I agree a RP track is not e place to judge him,we'll see what he does on the DF tracks.....I still think he needed more time in the NW series

I bet he is right in the fight on the shorter tracks, the kid can wheel a damn midget with the best of em

It is too early to say, but I worry that some of the rookies are on the fast track and their shot in a Cup car might be as short as Casey Atwood's.

Casey Atwood forgot all about him....Anyone know what he's doing now?

I feel confident he can progress. Don't forget he had some decent runs last year in the 51.

he is not off to a good start in the first race in the cup series, his learning curve is huge and his experience to draw from is not much. Those facts are against him. But one race does not make a season. He has almost no experience to draw from in the unique animal of plate racing. That said, I think on ovals he will do a lot better because of his experience. good rookie bunch this year.

The 500 is it's own animal. The real season starts this week. Let's not overreact he'll be fine. Dillon didn't look so hot either, wrecked about half the field

I think the kid has talent...I would say he is more talented at this point t "sliced bread" had when he was first called up.

One thing I take a lot of stock in is that Hendrick wanted him BAD, but no place for him. If Hendrick and Gordon felt he was ready...he is probably ready. They are not known for bringing guys up too soon.

agree.....plus ....kid is level headed ....no big ego.
just needs seat time......an he'll be fine.

I'm gonna chalk this up to bad luck and wait till next week.

Can't wait to see what this kid does at Dover, Bristol, Richmond, New Hampshire & similar tracks.

The real season begins this week. Larson frustrated Jimmie Johnson in just his second NASCAR start at the Nationwide race at PIR last year, so let's slow our roll.

I'm not gonna judge after one RP race. Did they bring him up to fast, yes! But that's the norm these days. They'll be some growing pains but I think he's gonna do well, especially when he gets to tracks the second time around.

So after Dillon took out not only him, but also crashed more cars that anyone else, and you're asking if Larson is in over his head? o_O

My thoughts exactly.

Shouldn't we be talking about the guy that caused the most havoc last night? lol please.

Larson/Dillon, Dillon/Larson. Who knows? Stats throughout their careers heavily favor Dillon when I look them up.

Head to head in.....

Cup, Dillon comes out on top.
Nationwide, Dillon again
Truck, Dillon once again

Larson to Cup to early? Over their head? Who's to say? Time will tell. This should be a great rookie paring this year.

10 years from now, Dillon and Larson will still be rivals and both will be very successful. I believe this. They are too talented to not be. The Dillon vs Larson argument won't be settled for a LONG time.

Get your panties out of a wad everyone, it was one race. We gotta long way to go!

Rattling cages already dp?

Nothing gets a thread going like proclaiming a driver to be the guy to beat. :D

I don't think dillon will ever set the world on fire, he has 2 NW wins both at the same track.
