Kyle Larson

A lot of people think that Kyle Larson is going to come in and set the world on fire, but his inexperience and less than stellar equipment are going to prove otherwise. Montoya finished 21st in points in that car last year, I look for Larson to do about the same this year.

I think maybe the high twenty's or low thirties.

If he wore the hat while he was racing I'd probably have a problem with it but heck, you've seen me..... Who am I to comment on someone's fashion sense? I'll leave that to the other Joan Rivers wannabe's here. ;)
Usually when someone keeps complaining over and over again about someones dress code...then there is more likely something else bothering them that doesn't meet the eye. It's usually not so much about what their wearing as much as who is wearing it... I don't think i have ever heard anyone complain about Richard Pettys cowboy hat.

Or Dale SRs.

of those 13 the first 5 out of 6 are the only ones who had a real shot at the title, or should I say the experience and equipment to win it. dillon was racing against only 4 other drivers, thats why no wins won the title.

My post wasn’t intended to subjectively quantify the competition, it was to point out more than nine drivers ran the full schedule last season.

His speed has been impressive, but his hurdle will be saving enough for the end of the race.

Yeah, he doesn't lke to back off so this race today should be a good test of his mettle. I'm looking forward to a good race as Phoenix seldom disappoints.

You can't judge a guy off one race. If that was the case, Austin dillion was brought up too soon too.

Larson is a helluva driver and I see championships in his future.

Two rookies in good equipment, 20th and 24th. Thats pretty good for rookies at Phoenix.

The end result doesn't really show what went on the race, sadly. Just result.

Comparing a 20th finished with a 24th doesn't seem too bad until you realize how badly Dillon do today. LOL going a lap down with 36 laps in.

Larson fought for most of the race before he went a lap down.

Larson has more hustle in him while the other one is just riding the big wave.

Not only that but he was really screwed when that caution came out with the pit cycles not finished.

Larson vs the Dillon Boys could be a good Nascar storyline for the next decade -- although Nascar won't want to highlight the silver spoon aspect of the Dillon Boys.

In many ways, though, these young guys are really racing for the Hendrick spots that are gonna open up in the next 5 years. Gordon and Jr are both 40+ now and JJ is right behind them at 38.

5 years from now, how many of them are running full time? Is Hendrick Motorsports really gonna have a stable full of middle-aged drivers -- at some point Hendrick is gonna reach for new blood and he'll get to have his pick of the best young drivers.

And every driver wants to have a Hendrick spot. Best teams, best equipment, best technical staff. And there could be multiple openings at Hendrick over the next 5 years.

Dale Jr, Larson, Elliot, and Johnson in 5 years.
Larson, Elliot, Regan Smith and a revolving door spot in another 5. I'd love to see Keselowski in a HMS car one day

No No A Thousand Times No.

For what It's worth Larson started 8th and finished 20th, dropped 12 spots. Austin started 24th and finished 24th, at least he held his position and hopefully he'll get better at qualifying.

Why not? He's young and has an incredible amount of talent & drive in him. Under HMS he'd be a championship threat every year
Hell I don't know, I just wanted to say that on Racing-Forums. :D

He's one of those drivers that wouldn't fit there.

Rick likes the "quiet, do your job and shut up and drive" type of drivers.

Brad brings in alot of unnecessary heat to an organization with his antics.

He sure did tame Jr

Jr. may drop a few sh!t bombs once in a while but he isn't the type to ridicule other organization by calling them cheaters or whatever stuff Brad is always pulling.

I didn't see the whole race but, like I've said all along, Larson's the better driver but a driver's only as good as the car he's in. Larson's a top-five talent in a 25th place car. Dillon's a top-20 talent in a top-three car.

If RCR sees Victory Lane it will be Newman. The 3 will not be in Victory Lane for a long, long time.

Too early to say Larson is top-5 talent right now.....look at the learning curve that Joey Logano went through. People expected Logano to come in at 18 or 19 years old and set the world on fire. The reputation that Logano had made the expectations very unfair. We're only now starting to see the results for Logano and he's going to be around for another 20 years so I think he could accomplish some great things down the road.

Larson has a similar reputation and similar unfair expectations. He's got a steep learning curve, but I think he'll get there. And I wouldn't be surprised to see him leave Ganassi in a few years. I don't know how many years Ganassi has Larson locked up for, but we've already seen drivers not be shy about jumping ship if they think they can get a better opportunity elsewhere.

I say he's a top-five talent, not a top-five driver. He's still got a lot to learn. Kyle Busch is the most "talented" driver in the history of NASCAR racing but his immaturity, stemmed from being brought up in to the big leagues way way way too early, has prevented him from winning championships.

give larson a break. that was big jump for youngster.
he's level headed ....smart kid. no big ego......like busch bros had comin up.

confidence takes time........an some success along tha way.
after daytona.....i'm sure he's thinkin "just don't fu an hit wall...or wreck other cars" .
sorta takes his "on tha edge" talent away......for now.
but he'll be back

What about Kahne? Is he leaving HMS?
It's hard to say about Kahne....He's probably one of the most hot and cold driver I've ever seen. I think Rick gives him this season and next to make a decision.
