Legacy to Toyota

Do you sell bridges? You really don't understand how this works. Am I right?
They showed up last year and they couldn't keep them on the track. If Legacy was paying the same as the other teams for engineering help from Toyota, that should be your first clue that most of us had figured out pretty quickly without any bridge involved that wasn't the case. Have you any idea where Legacy placed in the points last year?

How could it be shocking? You don't just change OEMs like socks. Jimmie came to US for a reason. He chose the hard way....without an alliance. The vibe that Jimmie settled for Toyota is silly. He got something from US he couldn't get elsewhere....or he would be elsewhere....
No, teams don't change manus on a spur, but the work to do so is usually done outside the public eye. We don't hear about it until the ink is drying.

As to an alliance, that's not a discussion regarding Toyota; it's one about the only possible alliance option. Regardless of the quality of potential partners, there are more alliance options with the other OEMs simply because they have more teams.

I didn't say he settled and didn't intend to imply that. I know it's going to come as a shock but signing with Toyota isn't a guarantee of success. Maybe Toyota is the one settling in this partnership. I don't see them gaining much useful data from Legacy right now.

My point remains that a switch wouldn't surprise me. Only four teams changing manufacturers would surprise me - Gibbs, Hendrick, RFK, and Penske. Honestly, I'm not sure how surprised I'd be if Roger jumped ship; if he can drop Dodge after a championship season, who knows? Otherwise, successful teams stick with their OEMs; unsuccessful ones for any changes that may help.

David said specifically on NASCAR Radio that they were well down the path of signing another team when Jimmie called out of the blue....Why would you question whether or not Jimmie was onboard? I distinctly remember wondering why the hell Chevy would even leave the door open to a face of their company....but my wondering doesn't make it a statement of fact.
I questioned it because when Jimmie bought in, it was a Chevy team, which made a certain level of sense for him, and then boom, it's suddenly a Toyota team. And sorry, I keep hearing different scenarios about how TRD and Legacy got together and I think there has been some adjustments to the story after the fact.

I think Legacy will have a much better 2025 compared to the last couple of years. 2024 was pretty horrific, Nemechek 34th in points.

Something tells me Jimmie still wants to race regularly. I wouldn't be surprised to see him have solid runs in his 2 scheduled races.
Sorry, it pains me to say it, but I think you can stick a fork in Jimmie, he's done as a competitive driver.

There's also the question of whether Legacy knows as well as JGR what to do with what they're given.
I kind of thought that this was obvious, but thanks for the assist. Reasonable to assume that the changes in personnel are addressing this question.

Teams can't start on their new OEM until the contract with the old one expires.....but I know you know that.

Jimmie wasn't seeking an alliance. Maybe this was part of the Toyota equation. He got what he wanted, and realizes that he needs more in order to do something with it. It looks like he is working on that. Toyota had a lot to lose with this. JGR was not happy. TRD did it anyway.

If Toyota was the problem. Jimmie wouldn't be overhauling his team. Toyota doesn't just take whatever team as @StandOnIt would imply. There is a lot to lose when you suck.

A Legacy OEM switch would be shocking. That's not the way things work with Toyota. It absolutely won't happen. Jimmie has said he is impressed with the culture and happy. Nothing wrong with it, but some here are busy making **** up.

Back in the story book again I see. This is what I said. The yotas were looking for a team to expand their numbers. This is what they got.

Toyota Racing Development has been attempting to add more cars to the mix, for awhile. David Wilson has been broadcasting that message in an attempt to find those new partners.
