Lil’ Larry

If they’d hire the MRN guys, many people would un-mute the race broadcast. The Fox booth guys promote the NASCAR bull crap. I don’t want to hear a corporate mouthpiece while I’m watching racecars.
I mean I could do without that part but I mean I find them entertaining when not doing that. I get it can be annoying. But whoever is up there would do the same crap.

Have you listened to a radio broadcast recently? There are sponsor plugs all over the place. They take breaks to interview the president of a track they go to in 3 months. Also calling a race on the radio doesn't translate to tv.

This. He's good on the broadcasts when they let him do his serious stuff.

This is more up DW's alley. He's a caricature at this point anyways.

Gotta try to retain some of that big Talladega fan base anyhow.
The problem is they are choking on the corporate broadcast wad. You may believe that what you’re seeing in front of their mouths is a microphone but I digress.
They spew what corporate believes will increase revenue and they couldn’t care less about the oil, race fuel and sweat that they used to consume. They’ve been bought.

You guys DO realize that half the people who have called NASCAR events on TV over the last 40 years CAME from MRN and PRN .

People want personality and emotion from drivers, not geriatrics in the broadcast booth.
Age never stopped John Madden. Vin Scully either. DW, on the other hand, is so rooted in his 'folksy' presentation (and Mikey in his buffoon role) that it's become a gimmick. That has nothing to do with age.
The guy knows his stuff, it's just the way they have him present it.
Yeah, the problem with this piece ain't Larry. This is a bad idea regardless of who got stuck hyping it.

I’ve stated this in numerous threads now. The current broadcast production of NASCAR is horrendous. It’s hurting the sport.

The sanctioning body needs to get ahold of this. Get FOX and NBC to take the sport seriously and stop making a joke out of it. It’s embarrassing.
