Yea, I can see why Dale Jr. retired when he did, the threat of CTE is very real especially at tracks like Daytona and Talladega. The Austin Dillion Wreck of 2015, Ryan Newman wreck and now Joey Logano's wreck have been the three scariest wreck I've witness live on TV.
I'll be honest, I'm not a fan of plate track racing, I think it's nothing more than putting 40 cars into a lottery wheel and seeing who comes out on top, it's a lottery race. So I wouldn't be too sad if NASCAR in the future decided to either race the Road Course at Daytona only, or either build a road course at Talladega or close it down. However, these races draw big crowds and big money, and NASCAR absolutely use these super speedway wrecks in their promotional materials. So I doubt anything it going to change anytime soon.
