Damn I’m a genius.

Mayfield was losing talent back in 2008/2009. Biffle still was able to occasionally have decent runs in a mediocre 6 car back in 2015/2016.

Instead of lobbying Busch, does Mayfield bring in any sort of funding like most KBM drivers often tend to bring?

Mayfield has a mouthful of pearly whites. Does anyone actually still believe he's some Methhead?

Mayfield's made a decent amount of cash in his career so who knows maybe he spent it on decent teeth care.

I liked Jeremy in the race car, but I just think there's too much smoke to think he's innocent and clean as can be. Dude got caught stealing stuff from race teams, etc. Pretty sure they found something in a safe a few years ago as well.

Is he in Jail? Or what happened to him....

I'm still of open mind about Jeremy ....If someone has some kind of proof about meth please post it. I'd love to hear it.

I never liked Mayfield, even before the drug stuff and legal issues. In 1996 I blamed him for ruining Gordon's Daytona 500, and I held a grudge against him for a long time. Something about the guy just bugged me.

I like to give Mayfield the benefit of the doubt but I'll admit it was hard after hearing about the stolen goods on his property and the meth in a bag in a gun case. I wouldn't have issues with him coming back because the guy seems to really love racing. If he's clean and can pass a drug test I don't see a problem. I've always believed in second and even third chances.

He was busted with Meth on him.
He didn't have it on him. They searched his house/property due to the stolen goods and claimed to have found meth residue on a bag inside of a gun case in his house.

It doesn't look good but he was never caught with the drug itself on his person.

I'm not talking about the house search, I'm talking about something a lot of us in the Garage know.

Go for it. I'd be down for a return. I think he got screwed in the deal with the meth and deserves a second chance. Can't be any worse than the kids have been this year.

Really? How did he get screwed?

So a rumor? Why should I believe you? Drop details or don't mention it.

Even if he did drugs people change and have probably gotten away with more while driving a race car. If he can pass the drug tests there is no reason why he shouldn't be allowed to drive.

There are a multitude of reasons why NASCAR car owners will not be putting Mr. Mayfield in a race seat.

Its been eight years, I'd say make him complete the program and make him get his licence again. If he does it, I'd say go for it. Mayfield was a solid driver in his day.

Could it be a questionable PR move? Possibly, but the redemption arc would be pretty cool IMO. The best truck he'd possibly get is a JJC seat though in all seriousness.

I'm kinda with ya on that. Looking at recent history, I think at the time Mayfield was busted, Brian France was the pot calling the kettle black. Brian B.S'd his way out of the recent drug charge, when over the years Brian has visibly shown he couldn't even stay sober long enough to to hand a ring off properly to the series champion, while Mayfield has kept his nose clean while suffering numerous losses because of the accusations and rebuilt his life.. Mayfield might or might not have had a problem back then, but he couldn't be where he is in life with a meth addiction

I dont care what or who you believe. It was common knowledge which ultimately led to him being tested. You cant keep that a secret. He certainly can come back but he will have to go through NASCARs treatment program (which he has refused to do) before he can get his license back, he cant just pass a drug test and get back in. I doubt Kyle Busch would touch him with a 10 ft pole.

All I said was don't spread a rumor. That's why this entire Mayfield situation has always been a huge argument. It was common knowledge that a lot of people did a lot of things on most of the jobs I've worked on and most of the time I found it
1. It wasn't true
2. It was partly true but blown out of proportions

If you're going to bring it up give some details. I'm sure everyone would love to hear about them. I always got the impression that he wasn't liked by NASCAR's brass anyway and the test was just a good excuse to get rid of him. He appealed it and then everyone said he failed another random. Thing is he always claimed he was willing to take another test from an independent Lab/Doctor and no one would have anything to do with him. I always found it odd that the only time he failed were the tests given by the only lab NASCAR does business with supervised by a NASCAR employed doctor.

I know about drug use and I know how easy it is to hide it. The offer of taking a Labcore test could have just been him thinking he could fool a piss test. I don't know what the lab NASCAR uses but unless it was hair he could have passed it. He was prescribed adderall (speed) and they hand out prescriptions for meth (it's called Desoxyn). A driver even back then was the type of person that could probably get a doctor to write him anything. If he were abusing meth why not just get a script for Desoxyn? He was already prescribed adderall so it should have been easy to convince a doctor to give it to him.

I'll defend the man on this until I die. I wouldn't want to go through the program either because at that point he's basically admitting drug use. If he wasn't using illegally that's letting NASCAR have their way. I could see myself in a similar situation fighting that til the bitter end. He's probably best off just shutting up and going through the program if he wants to come back but given your attitude towards him combined with a lot of other folks that worked around him I'm not sure it'd even be worth it. Why go through the program and admit to lying/using all those years only to not end up with a ride?

I always felt like outing the affair and his comments were the entire reason he ended up in the mess in the first place. It felt like the entire organization was against him and they were going to get him out of the cup series no matter how they had to do it.

Good lord man, smh. Were you on OJ's jury? There is tons of evidence that he was on meth and you can fly all the black helicopters you want.

Even if Mayfield IS innocent, (unlikely) he wouldn't be the first person to still have to go through a drug treatment program. My friend was DRUGGED by a woman in a motel room to rob him (or worse) and when he realized something was going on, he immediately got the hell out of there. But, hours later, while still under the drug's effect, he was involved in a bumper crash at a traffic light. Even though the cops were able to piece the whole thing together, he STILL had to plead guilty to a misdemeanor, lose his license for 90 days, and attend a drug treatment program at his expense.

Mayfield's "story" is that the accredited drug-testing laboratory erred.

According to Jeremy Mayfield, racecar driver and part-time scientist, the lab recorded a false positive for Adderall and therefore the entire thing was a sham perpetrated by NASCAR. You folks can spit into the wind for as long as you like ... this guy is a pariah and there is no chance that he will ever participate in another NASCAR sanctioned event. Ever.

Why did he "have" to plead guilty. They can't make you plea.

I tend to also believe he will never be allowed to enter a NASCAR sanctioned event. Lost in all of this is the personal issues with JM and Ray, whom NASCAR held in high regard, over Ray's supposed infidelity. I always thought the drugs and test issues were just a means to an end for NASCAR to get rid of him.
