Morgan Shepherd - Too old to be behind the wheel of a Cup car?

None of the drivers I have seen seem embarrassed, me thinks they have learned to put the old guy out of their thoughts, some may have resorted to taking medication in order to cope with this situation. I will still go to the races but have forbidden my family from talking about Morgan while we are there
Hahaha! I just laughed out loud at that. Good one.

Kinda funny the support Morgan gets but many here would like to see Danica out of her ride for not producing.

Since turning 60 MS has averaged a 41st place finish. Get some new blood in the sport. It's great and all that he can drive a race car but wouldn't any of you like to see a new driver get a chance behind the wheel?

I say get these kids like Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott and the Dillion brothers the hell out of the sport.

Instead of giving Shepherd's seat to some young blood, how 'bout Timmy Hill gives up his seat to, say, Kenny Schrader.

Seriously, it isn't like the old timers are over-running the place.

Although some seem to think that Mark Martin hung on longer than he should have, I enjoyed seeing him being able to still drive competitively for as long as he did.

And although Shepherd may not be competitive, I think it's remarkable that he's able to turn laps at Loudon at over 127 mph (faster than Timmy Hill in final practice).

David Pearson was 76 in 2011 when this article was written:

He's 76 years old, and these days he spends most of his time having lunch with his friends and tending to his donkeys and goats. But the other drivers in the classic car races know all about him. They call ahead to see if he's racing that night. When he does, a lot of them don't.

"We don't run a whole lot," David Pearson says. "But I don't believe I've lost one yet."

Good news for Morgan haters.

Morgan Shepard leaves track after his car failed pre-race inspection for being too light.

If this continues, I would say yes.

That should not have happened, a bit disappointed for both.

Logano overreacted a tad, but that was still pretty pathetic. Morgan's a good human being, but his time came and went long ago.

It didn't really bother me before, but after watching today's race I think I have to agree with those calling for Morgan to hang it up. He was nothing more than a rolling roadblock out there today.

If NASCAR is going to restrict who can race in the Cup Series they need to institute something like the Super License that every driver must hold. Just having an age limit is arbitrary. Timmy Hill plowed Matt Kenseth in that same #33 at Bristol earlier in the year and people want him back in the car because he's young?

How the hell did Joey overreact to being completely run over, with a car fast enough to win mind you, by a driver 20 mph off pace & 10 laps down? If anything he was classy in his interview.

it's not like this is the first time a back marker took out a front runner. you have to know who you are racing. I seen it happen to DALE at Bristol leading the race, twice and they were no where close to 72.

First time or the last time, it is still royally enraging. Joey had all the right in the world to go over & rip morgan's head off - but he kept his cool. How did he over react?
