Has there been any discussion of this? Tis my understanding was his first laps in the Next Gen. Talk about jumping in the deep end. I'm pretty impressed he brought it home in one piece. But that track makes it fairly easy 8 guess. Lots of room. Fact they stuffed him in that car, for me, shows that Hendrick has some respect for his ability. Pretty pretty impressive. I suspect all they wanted from him is to bring it home undamaged. Did a great job.

Snider began the day working for FOX Sports as a pit spotter with pit reporter Jamie Little. I read somewhere they had asked Regan Smith if he wanted to drive, he told them let the young guy have a chance....

I wonder if Myatt had any Cup simulator time at any point? Just getting used to the shifter could lead to dome destroyed drivetrain parts.

His lap times started about 6 seconds slower than the leaders, and improved to about 3.5 or 4 slower. Not bad for an unexpected drive, in an unfamiliar class of car, set up to someone else's preferences (and a seat full of crap?). He can be satisfied with a day's good work.

But I thought Allgaier was Hendrick's contracted backup driver?

Pretty cool story. Apparently Hendrick had to talk NASCAR and get him approved to run Cup during the race, it wasn't planned. They let him because he dies have an Xfinity win and road courses and short tracks are the easiest to get approved for.
