He was the most competent full-time driver Niece had since Chastain.
They're really abandoning their chance of a playoff run because he’s leaving? Seems like a terrible decision to me.

Zillisch for W.G. and Currey who was part time with 1 top 5 and 3 top 10's in 8 races in Niece's other #44 Truck for the rest is how they are going. Something to watch.

Lots of outliers.

Full timers Riggs and Heim are going to have their work cut out for them at the Glen.

Which is it? He was offered an extension after he said he was jumping ship or he fessed up when offered an extension. SMH..in the same article.

According to Efaw, Niece Motorsports had approached Kaden Honeycutt about signing a contract extension with the NASCAR Truck Series organization, which would have seen him remain part of the team for several years into the future. However, it was at that time that the 22-year-old driver revealed to the team’s leadership that he had signed elsewhere for 2026.

Looks like it got ugly and typical when a driver jumps to another OEM for Honeycutt. He misses a race before he starts driving the Friesen truck. Nascar will probably smooth it over somehow...because playoffs.

Rumor is he at least starts the 02 truck at the Glen to remain playoff eligibility.

Efaw:
Chevrolet’s not going to let him walk into their tech center and get on the simulators, and I’m not going to let him come into our meetings or comp meetings, and you know, Phil Gould, who I think is a great name in this industry, he has certain things that he wants to live up to, and there’s certain information that he needs out of a driver that I don’t feel that we can continue moving forward and do it at a championship level in the No. 45 truck.
But they expect to compete for a owner's title with a string of part-timers? Cheby willing to sacrifice a possible title to avoid giving Kaden further looks at technologies he's already been looking at all season.

Bailey Currey is full time driver for the 45, eligible for owner points and is taking over after Watkins Glen. You think it would be a good idea to kick Connor Zilisch out of the truck at Watkins Glen so it doesn't look like a string of part timers?

I must have misread an earlier post. I (mis)understood Currey to only be there for one race.

I believe Zilisch still gets to qualify. They lose pit stall selection at the next race and lose the crew chief. I haven't read anywhere that he has to start in the back.
Yep. I didn't say it was much of a chance.

I've never understood the reasoning behind losing pit selection at the NEXT race instead of the current one.

Dang, this qualifying bunch is putting on a show. Group 1 Bell goes out and blisters the track with a .144 followed by Heim in group #2 with a .181. Heim will get another shot.

Connor Zilisch had fuel pickup problems for qualifying P11. He was fastest in practice.
