The deadline for submittal of picks for the next race is Friday, March 16th, noon Eastern time.

The picks are in for this week's race at California and the most popular driver is in the seat of the #32 car, Matt DeBenedetto, who was picked by four players. Aric Almirola, Clint Bowyer, Kyle Larson, and Daniel Suarez were each the selection of three players.

Several extremely different strategies continue to play out as the game's current leader, @Blake Hylton, continued his season-long streak of picking only "A list" drivers. Meanwhile, @ChexOrWrex, @Johali, and @kkfan91 continue with their habit of picking only "C list" drivers.

Finally, the field has been reduced to 33 players following the failure of @westcoast4shr and @khfordfan12 to make a pick for the fourth time this year. @wilson89 appears to have also lost interest in the game as he hasn't participated since his pick of non-starter Corey LaJoie for the Atlanta race.

You wait ,it gets better , like when your pick gets scratched from the entry list after the deadline has locked your pick.

Although I know of several instances last year, and again this year, when driver switches resulted in picks being made for a driver that ended up not starting a race, I don't recall any of those driver switches being made after the noon Friday pick deadline.

As we've already seen at least twice this year, a driver was listed on an initial entry list only to be replaced later in the week. As I recall, it's happened with both the #51 and #72 cars.

Keeping in mind that an initial driver pick can be changed up until the pick deadline, I strongly suggest that players be cautious when picking a driver from a third tier team, especially the #51 car where Marks, Rhodes, Custer, and Hill have already taken turns behind the wheel.

As mentioned previously, remaining players that have already accumulated several NO PICKS in their used driver column should rest assured that they're still in a viable position to win the Championship.

If nothing else, they have that much less of a need to select from the dreaded "C" list of drivers.

Besides using Danica at Daytona, I haven't had the cojones to pull the trigger on one yet.

And the rich get richer . . .

The current leader of the standings, @Blake Hylton, continues to impress as his pick of Brad Keselowski in the #2 car finished in 4th place in the Auto Club 400 held at (pick one) the Auto Club Speedway, located in the city of Fontana in the state of California . . .

And although @Blake Hylton has no race winners among the five "A list" drivers he's used so far this year, that's the fourth consecutive race that he's picked a driver that's finished fourth or better.

mercy

Meanwhile, @jpell15 beat out @Johali for the season's second "Wiping Up the Rear" award as his pick of Trevor Bayne finished dead last ahead of @Johali's pick of Jeffrey Earnhardt, who finished next to last.

Congrats to @Brentford and @Clutch who shared this week's "Highest Finishing Pick" award with myself when Kyle Larson managed to get by Kyle Busch for a 2nd place finish. The most upward movement in the standings was also achieved by @Brentford with his move up nine positions into ninth place.

Fortunately for all playing the game, no one picked 35th place finisher Kevin Harvick to win his fourth consecutive race of the season. On the flip side, however, no player took advantage of the efforts of race winner Truex Jr. or those of Logano, Hamlin, Jones, Blaney, Johnson, or Austin Dillon, who finished 5th through 10th, respectively.

I picked Harvick at Atlanta?

Couldn't have been much better of a RF fantasy week for me. Larson got me a second place finish. While a 1st would have been nice, that would have also meant that I wouldn't have scored a win in the "pick the winner" game, but instead...many other people would have.

Yep, and you have a winning pick to show for it.

If anyone has doubts about what their driver pick was for a previous race, the continuing private conversation each player uses to submit his weekly pick can always be referred to.

If done correctly, the conversations serve as an archive for each pick for each race. :)
