No whammies, hopefully Circuit City doesn't pull an HHGregg and file bankruptcy while sponsoring a team... https://www.jayski.com/2019/06/06/circuit-city-to-sponsor-iowa-xfinity-race/ Still so freakin' weird to see that name again.
Advocare did sign to Hendrick, I wonder if they will be on the 88 car or just stick as a associate sponsor. They are the "official nutrition" sponsor for them. I wonder if they will pop-up again on the 88 by chance?
Hendrick Motorsports is world class at getting and keeping sponsorship lined up. They have highly talented people working on it all the time. I expect them, and Alex Bowman, to weather this in good shape. I had two thoughts when I heard this unwelcome news... 1) It sucks that a retired driver (even one of Dale Jr's stature) pulls major sponsorship away from a race team. 2) I wouldn't be totally shocked if Ally Financial goes on the 88 next year... and Jimmie Johnson decides to spend more time kicking back at his Colorado chalet.
Yea, as big of a Jimmie Johnson fan as I am, I think it's finally time to admit that he's in the sunset years of his career. Man, cracking that 7 time Champion and getting an 8th is hard!
It’s like all 3 hit a brick wall at 7. I thought Jimmie would get 8 for sure. It just shows how hard it is to win a championship.
How many Alex Bowman/Nationwide commercials have you seen on TV? It's obvious Nationwide loves their relationship with Dale Jr. and why he's still in their commercials. No doubt that Nationwide decided to stick with their contract and now they want to go in a different direction. It happens all the time. So no surprise they'd choose not to renew with Hendrick.
Have you called a local Nationwide insurance agent to complain about their pull-out from Nascar? Have you threatened to take your business elsewhere? Don't bother trying that tactic... because all Nationwide agents are disappearing pronto. They have a completely new marketing plan... to sell through independent agents only. I would think a change like this would place a premium on quality hospitality opportunities, but I guess their new CEO sees it differently...
I think ole Bob got sent to the box for an attitude adjustment. It looks to me that he now has his mind right. Sorry, just paying homage to fellow Hoosier native Strother Martin.
Leavine sounds like a loose cannon, but his stream of commentary can be interesting, since most of the sport is quite close-mouthed about these issues.
I wish teams would get a bigger cut of the TV deal instead of these tracks that are still making plenty of money. Is it coincidence attendance falls off the more the car count drops or the other way around?
I've never thought money would solve all of the woes of backmarker teams, only make the top teams faster as a rule.
I think so many subconsciously think to use football's model to put a top pick$$$$ on a clunker team to improve it. They used to have 40, 50 cars entered at some tracks and it was nothing but wrecks
Rick Ware has a two race deal with a new sponsor, drive smart warranty. Seems similar to TOCO that signed with SHR in extended warranty business: https://www.jayski.com/2019/06/26/rick-ware-racing-signs-drivesmartwarranty-com-in-multi-race-deal/
Ryan Sieg lands a fully-funded ride for 2020, watch out for RSS next season. Huge and exciting news for this family run team. Congrats to them:
Ally is putting more eggs in the marketing basket, now they are going to sponsor the new MLS team: I wouldn't read too deeply into it.
Big deal for Penske and with MoneyLion, almost 160 million: If this sport is dying, then its not going down without a fight.
I can't see Penske moving Cindric to Cup. Could it be Reddick? Is this what it will take to move Bell from JGR?
I also don't see any signs that Nascar is dying, but it's not accurate to say the $160 million is for Penske and Nascar sponsorship. MoneyLion has raised new equity capital (most of which was previously announced) to support the growth of the company. I'd suggest pumping the brakes on speculating how much MoneyLion spends with Penske.
I thought about it after proof reading it. I'm sorry, I get excited about positive news in the world inside and outside of racing. I get giddy like a school girl.
Adirondack Tree Surgeons joins Go Fas at Pocono Last weekend, Corey LaJoie had a strong showing throughout the on-track sessions in the Granite State, including a pair of 23rd-place results in the first two practices before ending the weekend by tallying a top-25 finish in the Foxwoods Resort Casino 301. Adirondack Tree Surgeons will serve as the primary sponsor of the No. 32 in Long Pond, PA after serving as a co-primary last weekend in New Hampshire. I believe we will be able to see the car ok https://www.jayski.com/2019/07/24/adirondack-tree-services-joins-go-fas-at-pocono/
