Or we could wait, watch the first race and see what's what.

You already KNOW a lot of things. Some of us are content to give it a chance. Time will tell.I could wait until the next time it rains to see if it's wet, but I already know that. If rovals were the answer, natural terrain road courses would have went the way of the dodo long ago. Ask 100 dedicated road racing fans, and 95 will tell you rovals suck.
Try to shade your optimism, k?Love that last chicane. You could see some crazy battles to the line through there
Can’t say for sure with the music but it sounded like he wasn’t braking until he was through the banking already.I can only guess that by having the two set up the way they are, it'll cause them to have to let up earlier to head into that one coming out of the turn #4. Again, I don't know a thing about road course design. I'm guessing those that are behind these changes do. There must be a reason that they feel it necessary. I yield to their collective knowledge.
What makes you think Charlotte will be a slow road course?Normally I would agree with you, but slow road courses suck, and stock cars , due to the weight, tire size and brake limitations makes any road course slower. Speed and momentum is a big part of what makes Watkins Glen so great.

I believe it was collaborative effort.I wonder who designed / re-designed the thing?
No place at all. Probably wind up like that Stage Racing thingyTry to shade your optimism, k?
It has no place here.
I believe it was collaborative effort.
“The opportunity for a last-lap pass in true road racing fashion is what put me over the top with the chicane,’ Smith said. “I resisted it at first. I thought we didn’t need it. But we had great discussion with NASCAR and other manufacturers, drivers and designers that thought it would provide a signature opportunity for great passing and great racing and great competition.”
Its the same size as the Glenn with a nice straight down the back much like the Glenn before the bus stop and if they leave the chicane close to turn 3 will have a nice sweeping left hander. Infield is more Sonoma based but all in all their will be plenty of places to pass and some very technical corners. Should be great.

Come on, I've seen a thousand passes at the Glenn in the bus stop that never resulted in a crash and produced a great run down the right hander. Most of the chicanes I know of are more famous for crashes than passes.

Why wait for the race itself when we can all speculate on the race now?
Holy moly.https://www.motorsport.com/nascar-cup/news/video-nascar-tire-test-charlotte-roval-966793/
I see lots of opportunity here.
The Cadillac DPi ran a 24-hour test at Charlotte last year, before all of the modifications. I'd like to see what that looked like.Just an observation based on watching hundreds of road course races from LeMans to Putnum Park for the last 35 years. Hell, the track has three Sonoma turn 11's in a row. This track would frustrate an IMSA DPi car, let alone a Cup car. Too much track in too little space. Turn 7 should just be eliminated, and the front stretch chicane totally kills the momentum into turn one.
Looks like a racetrack.Holy moly.
Like to see a IMSA race here. Maybe 12 hr deal or something and name it after Johnny Stevenson.Looks like a racetrack.
Looks like you could use one of these today.....Not a road course fan, but I will watch like I always do. Hell, I went to Sonoma. I might go again. Why? Because a day with this sport is better than a day without. Every. Damn. Day.
Looks like you could use one of these today.....
Hoda makes everything all right again.Damn it. LOL. Why do I feel guilty every time you post this? LOL.

Isn't that the same video FLRacingFan posted back at #314?https://www.motorsport.com/nascar-cup/news/video-nascar-tire-test-charlotte-roval-966793/

Boyer running thru there, looks damn fast enough to me. I do see them running thru the grass at the last kink in the front chicane. Easy to straighten that corner out.
I'm thinking they need a low curb/rumble strip that will throw them up in the air a bit and remind them to not do that again.I'm with you on that front stretch hunk of AstroTurf. I wonder what kind of traction they'll get on that?
It could be. I didnt look for any that posted previously.Isn't that the same video FLRacingFan posted back at #314?
