...Are there really no Cup drivers other then Nemecheck entered?

Amen. I wish I could hit the like button twice.

Andy , if you want a cup race at Iowa or any other great track, this is the weekend that you need to write an article and tell Nascar to move the stupid all star pr event to the Wednesday night before the Coke 600. Taking up a weekend with a non points pr event is just ridiculous . Get after them Andy. They listen to you.

After every NW and/or CWTS event I log onto the NASCAR Fan Council site and post a mini essay on how great the racing is at Iowa and that they need a Cup race. I tell them I'd make the trip from Michigan every summer of they added a Cup date. I realize that I have no influence but at least I am trying to make voice heard.

Good luck with that. :p

Tell them to move the stupid all junk race to the Wednesday night before the Coke 600. That will open up a weekend for Iowa for you .

Next year. I am attending this year's "all junk race".:D

Don't get me wrong , it's a fun event . And it is wonderful that the drivers can sleep in their own beds . I get all that . It's just that we can't have a points race that weekend . We can't have a second Darlington race or Richmond , we can't have Iowa or Martinsville .There are too many weekends taken up . This is one that can be moved to a weeknight without anybody really noticing .

And nascar could see what the ratings are during the week.

I don't mind a weekend being used for the All-Star race. Heck, we already have 36 weeks of points racing. I love this sport but that's more than enough in my book. I like all of the things that take place surrounding this event with them being in their home town. It gives fans a great chance to visit the race shops of a majority of the teams that operate out of the area and it makes for a great week long camping experience around a couple NASCAR events.

Hold on there. What exactly do you mean by 'junk'? ;)

'All junk race' was my statement . It's just that it is a tedious gimmicky non points race designed to sell more die cast to the gullible collectors and give the drivers an extra weekend home.

...but I like it because nobody cares about points and just races for the win.

And I'm ok with that dp . If everyone wants an exhibition race like this instead of a points race at Iowa , so be it . But the race fans who ask for new tracks to be added to the circuit have to understand that .

I see the lack of new tracks as a function of double dates. I doubt NASCAR would have teams jump to Iowa and then to Charolette on Wednesday to run 3 races in 8 days. It would be a big strain on these teams.

Darrell Wallace Jr. to make Nationwide Series debut at Iowa for JGR. I have to root for this guy just because of his name alone. How can you not?

It's a well thought out name for sure. It would have been a shame if he grew up to be an accountant.

My ancestors came over from Norway in the middle 1700s so that makes me a minority. Somebody pay my way through the US Maritime Academy (because I have skills) so that I can be a ship captain for 42 years, no wait I've already accomplished all of that on my own by working hard. My bad, sorry.

I'm not getting involved in this johali. I don't know how to characterize what you said there.

As always fender, tongue in cheek. You usually read between my sarcastic lines pretty good.

In the mid 1700s our land was owned and operated by the spanish, English and Portugese which made a Norwegian a minority. A jest is a jest is a jest, even in sheeps clothing, a jest is a jest.

Ok, you're off the hook.....I think. Andy?

What kind of ships did you skipper?

Mostly freighters a couple of tankers. 10 years working my way up the ladder, then 32 years as Captain. 600' to 900' long and 25,000 tons and up. The last 15 years due to seniority the gravy runs, Caribbean, short Atlantic hops etc. been retired 2 1/2 years.

That's awesome. Was that what you wanted to do or something you kind of found?

And again, what the hell does that have to do with the discussion at hand... especially when talking about a black racecar driver? That crap had no place in this thread.

OK I apologize because I didnt know that I was not allowed to joke if it concerned certain ethncities whether it was this or another thread. Since I'm purple I thought it exempted me from the rule.
