Nationwide Race Thread - Iowa

That's awesome. Was that what you wanted to do or something you kind of found?

I got back from Viet Nam in the Marines and looked for something different as I couldnt sit at a desk. A family friend took me to his ship to look around as a guest and as they say that was that.

Glad to know. I know I've participated in the destruction of several other threads though. I guess I need to find that ponytail so I can pull my head out of my ass.

There were 3 of those so plenty of room for all of us which we all need at one time or other.

Johali, you've led an interesting life. I know I would like to hear your stories --- those that you would care to tell. ;)

Yeah TRL its been a hoot so far and still hootin. Most is boring, boring, boring with a little mayhem and sheer terror thrown in along with a heluva lot of very very good times. I am very fortunate.

Tough break for Danica. She was running top 15 on the lead lap until the tire let go.
That is a tough break . And another one that is not on her . I heard no mention of debris and I expect that it was a set up problem . If so , that one is on the crew chief. When they are encouraging her to log laps and stay out of trouble , they don't need to be putting a risky set up in the car. She was doing a good job .

They were talking about bead meltdown.

It's going to take a caution to make this one interesting ;)

Kurt got ran over on the last lap. He's already on probation(if you believe that means anything) so he better keep his cool.

Trl were you a monitor over at nascar .com a few years ago before it turned spritsy. Lots of young young kids.

Is there a more improved driver over the last year or so than Ricky?

I would agree with that last year, which is when Ricky learned to stop wrecking and win a championship. IMO, Cole Whitt is the biggest surprise. Kligerman is going to start running the #22 car, so he may prove something.

No, Johali. I've been a member of many forums over the last 15+ yrs, but have abandoned most of them because of the mean-spirited, sometimes downright nasty comments.

Glad that you are here. I left this forum a few years ago for similar reasons but its really pretty cool now due to the monitors. Sounds like a suck up huh. Really do appreciate you guys and gals. Thanks.

I heard them say that on tv and saw Kurt fell from third to fifth but didn't see any replay . If the cameras caught it I hope someone will post the clip.

Kurt said afterward that it was no big deal. He got loose with McDowell close behind. Kurt had to lift, Mike had to hit him cause he couldn't avoid him. Great save by Busch!!

I think that Stenhouse is the real deal. No doubt! I like McDowell a lot too! If MM could get a full-time ride with a good team, I think that he would open some eyes.

But Michael ain't nearly as cute as Danica so there's that to consider...

...Somebody pay my way (because I have skills)...

Johali, thank you for your service and Welcome Home!

I know that you are (kinda-sorta) joking, but...
Don't tell me that you would NOT have taken advantage of a similar opportunity if one had been presented to you.

The kid is just starting out. Let's see how he does! I say good for him for making it this far when few do!

I agree Robby . There have been inequities in this sport since day one . Pettys , Allisons , Earnhards ,Wallaces , LaBontes ,etc . . Everybody gets in somehow and a lot of great drivers never get in . That's just the way it has to be . Don't see how you can single out one driver like a Darrell Wallace or a Paul Menard and not like him because of the way he got into the sport , while forgetting everyone else.

I agree, assuming you mean to exclude Richard and Dale SR, who got their hands dirty for their rides.

And he didn't take a swing at McDowell ?

You know as well as the rest of us that KuBu would yell and spit and so on so the crew could keep them apart but if McDowell or anyone else got to him he would hightail it to the hauler posthaste.

I don't know for sure that either one would have made it into Nascar if it weren't for their daddies. Add Buddy Baker , Dale Jarrett and a dozen others . I'm just talkin about having a way to get into cup racing . It could be daddies influence , daddies money , or a diversity program . Basically it is a way in , what you do once you get in is up to you.
