Nationwide Race Thread - Iowa

Perhaps her "improvement" should be based in her objectives. Then, her, her team and owner will decide if she's making progress.

It seems as though her every move has been planned out almost right down to how many steps she takes from the media center to her hauler.

You guys will no doubt agree that while Matt likes Danica , Fender doesn't have much use for her . The stats sure prove Fender's side , but there aren't enough of them to be considered proof of anything . I thought that her crew did a poor job last week , but a good job in the previous race . Again , the jury is still out on that too.

As someone who closely follows her progress each race I feel justified in my stance. Anyone can click on a link and stare at stats all day and think they know the story. And that's fine. No one says we have to agree.:)

I've said it again and again. Danica has the talent to be a successful stock car driver. I even defended her against those who said that she hadn't earned a ride in NW.

My comments were a dose of reality against all the unfounded Danica hype I'm reading here. If some find it too difficult to back off some of those unfounded statements simply because they like what they hear on the radio, so be it. That's how emotional perceptions work, so there's no point in trying to enlighten them with performance facts.

I use the stats every week to try and make my picks for the pool. I keep coming up with names like Jeff Gordon , Jeff Burton and Mark Martin , then saying no way , because this year is different .(so far anyway ).The point is that stats don't tell the whole story . DNF is one of the worst stats because it doesn't tell you who was at fault . So far ,Danica is doing a great job , but we won't know a thing for at least another full year . She is coming from at long way back , in terms of experience .Question , has Juan Pablo reached his peak yet ?

Good question. I held out hope for Juan for a long time. I'm gonna say he has. He still might get that oval victory but I don't think he'll be a champion or start being consistently a front runner. I just feel the transition for drivers that have been in light cars and have tons of downforce their whole career have a hard time adapting to how on the edge you have to put a stock car. Look at Dario Franchitti, they advertise him as one of Indy's all time best and his stock car career was dismal. Nothing against him, these cars are hard to drive. Even guys that drive nothing but stock cars have a hard transition from Late Models to even a East car because all the sudden they're in a 3400 pound car that's overpowered. That's what makes these cars great and you gotta be damn good.

Yay, I missed a race where my favorite (Nationwide) driver won. :( I realized it just before I signed up on Sunday when I saw this thread. Oh well, I haven't followed this series very long anyway. I didn't pay attention to the series last year when Ricky won the championship...
