andy----looks like ya called this one right !
haven't read all tha contract details yet..........but ya can bet nbc didn't pony up that kinda $$ w/o a plan.
----they got 2 yrs ta expand their nbcsn presence in a lot more homes.
----comcast/nbc deal figures into this long term somehow. xfinity on-demand.....etc. ?
----indycar is loser w/ deal ?
----lotsa cross promotion on chase sundays.....w/ nfl/snf.
1 good thing fer sure----2 less channel numbers fer us ole geezers ta remember. ha!
(Ignoring their awful political approach)
I like MSNBC And now NBC Sports Network
ought ta work out fine fer ya on weekends andy.
race durin day on nbcsn...........lockup.....caught on camera....etc ...... at nite on msnbc ! ha!
If this means less Wally Dallenbach and Kyle Petty then it's great news. Allen Bestwick ain't bad though, he's like the "discount" Bob Costas.
However as a Canadian this worries me a bit because ESPN's coverage was carried by their Canadian partners TSN and their secondary channel TSN2. We get NBC but not any of their secondary channels to the best of my knowledge, so that means I might be looking at a big drop off in the number of races that I can watch.
Does it really matter? Will anyone be truly happy with any type of coverage? NASCAR just does not translate well to TV and never will.
ESPN outbid NBC last time around ... NBC had just paid $6 billion for NFL rights when ESPN got NASCAR. TNT only stayed in because Turner Sports had digital rights.
NASCAR's in a good place right now. It'll be a staple for FOX Sports 1 coverage and will probably be the centerpiece for NBC Sports Network moving forward.

nbc got only 3 tnt races?
did fox get other 3 ?
This deal is Terrible NBC's Coverage Sucked last time and it will this time too, plus now you have to pay extra to get NBCSN and Fox 1 to watch the races. Terrible deal and NASCAR knows it or they wouldn't be deleting the posts that criticize it on their forum.
As of now it looks like those races will remain on TSN. This was from the press conference yesterday:
Q. Steve, I have a question for you, and I may be incorrect, but it’s my understanding NBC Sports Network is blocked in Canada, and one thing we see is a lot of complaints from Canadian fans about their ability to access NASCAR coverage, so how will you address that?
STEVE HERBST: We have a TSN relationship that will continue, and we have broadcast TV, so our broadcast TV will reach Canada. We have the ongoing TSN relationship, and that’s how we’ll service our Canadian fans.
I liked Alan and Benny but I HATE WALLY NEVER WAS. Not a fan of Kyle now but atleast he won some races, competed, and has actual knowledge to fall back on. I also hate that they are sticking most the races on NBCSN. Well I'm not paying the extra each month to have a channel that is 99% crap.NASCAR has a forum again? Good - maybe some of the accounts on here will go back to their cesspool.
Yep they do and they can't handle the truth on it.
And I liked NBC last time. Allen and Wally are my favorites.
Well at least we get to ditch ESPN. But having pretty much all the races on cable is
nbc got only 3 tnt races?

I've got satellite but it isn't on the package I get I get TNT and ESPN, Sorry I'm not paying for another package with how ever many channels I'm not going to watch just to get two channels that will suck 99% of the time unless NASCAR wants to pay for it. I haven't seen the Duels or All-Star race live in years because I'm not paying for an extra package. I didn't watch any races when Fox had them on FX either.People who complain about things being on cable are like people who don't have smartphones or credit cards. I'm sorry, but if you don't have cable/credit card/smartphones, you're a second-class citizen in today's world. You may not like it, but you know it's the truth.

I'm sorry that you are sorry, but if you are, what can ya say..inexperienced? to pay credit card interest, and cell phone rates and buy a whatever phone are paying a premium for Stuff. Good for you, but I learned a long time ago that things that make you money while you are asleep are a better way to go. I don't consider myself a second class citizen because I have neither. I retired at 58, debt free. Not bragging, I am not filthy rich, but I sure don't need a micky mouse cell phone and a credit card to feel like a somebody that's for sure. And I pay for cable because I have too. If nascar was on regular TV, I would drop this over priced hogwash re run B.S. in a minute...
ah whoops, big difference between a credit card, paying credit card interest to use money and a debit card which I do have. If you live in a populated city and don't go far, you can get rid of your land line and pay three prices for a mobile phone and app yourself to death. I live on the side of a lake, the don't work unless you go outside or stand in the bedroom and lay up against the window. when I had one, and I have had many, I would get dropped two or three time driving 35 miles home...not to mention when I owned a big truck and drove cross country. I have been using those P.O.S every since I had a brick phone, but at least I got to write them off on business. So you see your vision might work for you and that is what they say on the TV, but it isn't that way everywhere.
I have no other choice except satellite for TV ---- unless I want to put up a 75-100 foot mast and hope to hell I can zero in on the "huge" TV stations out of Tyler, TX. That's it. Cable is only offered inside the city limits of Palestine. Hell, I can't even get decent/reliable radio reception from the local radio stations. Cell phone reception? --- forget it. I carry a cheap Tracfone when I'm driving because I may need it. It does nothing but make/receive calls and texts. I carry it with me when I'm outside using the chainsaw hoping that if something happens I can get help. *fingers crossed*
But, to return to the topic --- I subscribe to the top tier simply because I want to see all the racing that's offered, when it's offered.
My "hooterville" phone company..largest independently owned phone co. in the U.S. with a whopping 22oo customers finally got over to my side of the lake with cable about 5 years ago. I am second from the end of the line so it took another year to get "High Speed" internet and digital TV. I have tested the speed..lower 15% in the U.S., but still alot better then the modem I had to use. I had to buy a bunch of crap I never watch, and bundle the Phone, internet, and TV in order to get the speed channel. It is a bit cheaper than the dish and better reception. $145 a month for the bundle.
