OK --- let's not have a repeat of the pissing match about the All-Star race.

As you can see, it is a new aero package that is being tried. The group at NASCAR America said that this is the perfect time to "try something" and that the All-Star race is the time and place.

Maybe they'll stumble on to something good. I'm curious as to how much the plates will affect the speeds? This could make for an interesting event. I'll be tuned in.

NASCAR is finally listening to the fans regarding the splitter. If it doesn't tear the nose off in the grass we're not happy!!

I'm a strong supporter of the direction they had been going in with the aero package. I certainly don't support lower HP, higher downforce, momentum based racing in any way.

As I see it, you can either believe in the recent approach, or favor this "test". I don't see how one can credibly support both, unless you have no actual preferences or simply support everything NASCAR does.

I would say that I don't care because my interest in the All-Star race is quite low. However, it is clearly being used as an experiment. If you like the racing as it is now, how could you want this to go well and its use be expanded?

I wish there was no restrictor plate but I’m a fan of the aero changes. IMO racing at this level is about the absolute most speed

I think with the plate they’re just going for high drama with a wad of cars at the finish line at the same time. Could be fun, even if not really ‘racing’

Let's face it --- the All-Star race really isn't "racing". It's a show, entertainment at the best.

True, and I suppose that is the best argument for why it should be considered no big deal. My concern is that people who have no real regard for how genuine the racing is will like what they see and persuade NASCAR to use the package elsewhere.

Thank you for calling. This call may be recorded for quality control and training purposes. All of our technicians are busy helping other callers. Aero ducts, yes.

Restrictor plate, God no.

Adding drag is great, lets keep moving in that direction.

The package has peaked my interest but my expectations are drastically low.

I love lots of HP, rapid acceleration and decceleration. Plus tire wear that creates passing and naturally great drama.

I will watch the All Star race and try to enjoy. But imo it goes against so many of the things that is currently being done right.
I like the current race package a lot. I sure as hell hope that this lower HP, pack crap doesn't spread.

I don't think the restrictor plate is the answer, but I'm ALL FOR cutting the horsepower. NASCAR has been overpowering the tracks for a generation. I was 100% in favor of downforce reduction, but to be honest, it hasn't worked out near as well as I'd hoped. Maybe NASCAR hasn't hit on the right combination yet. I don't really think high downforce is the way to go, but I applaud NASCAR for at least TRYING something. You don't learn a damn thing sitting around theorizing. Honestly, I was intrigued by what I saw at the Indy Xfinity race.

It will be interesting to see how this package works, I will give it to NASCAR for trying something, better than just sitting on the pot.

6-inch spoiler and 12-inch dog ears with the plate? What the actual **** is this?

Wasn’t the 2014 splitter more prominent?

As someone said before, the All-Star Race is the best chance to try out any experiments with the racing. If it's bad, I just won't watch it. There's a reason why it is not a points race and why it is so different from every other race on the schedule. ;)

My thoughts exactly. Racing a car with high amounts of drag and no torque curve doesn’t sound like a great idea.

most of you are speculating wildly about what you think is going to happen. What do we all hate about Indy? No passing single file snore fest? A Strung out to all hell an gone field? What the package is going to try to do is create a huge pocket of air that the trailing car can run up in and slingshot around the car in front, OR can run side by side on a pretty much one groove track. They can also hook up on a straight and draft past a leading car. They are trying it here first (no points) with the cup cars to see if it works for Indy. They had to change the front end around to get the room for the ductwork in the front to work similar to what the Xfinity cars ran at Indy which probably not many posting saw the package in action and how well it worked....continue on I'm done

DaleJr, Dale Jarrett and Jeff Burton agreed that this was "getting warmer" on how to improve the racing at 1.5 tracks.

Not an engineer. Not an engineer. Not an engineer.

I thought NASCAR was going in the right direction by reducing drag by reducing the size of the splitter and spoiler. Why are they going back to the high drag, high down force package?

Because they’re too stubborn to admit that their Gen 6 ****box is the problem.

I agree 100%. I've been a strong supporter of Nascar's trend toward putting the race back in the hands of the drivers, and may the best man win. This move away from that ideal is troubling to me. To saddle the leader with an aerodynamic disadvantage... and hand an aero advantage to the trailing cars... thwarts a meritocracy and creates a mere illusion of genuine close racing.

I don't care about f**king up the All Star Race, but if this is a test for how to race elsewhere, I do care about that.

I have no issue with this. I'd rather this at Charlotte instead of the aero dependent, one cars gets clean air and bolts racing we normally see there.

I am not a huge fan of reducing speeds in a sport built on speed, but at some tracks it works and It's not like the cars are reduced to 60 mph they'll still be going fast

No better place to try something new than a meaningless race. Not a big deal IMO. Maybe they'll learn something from this to take the racing in a better direction? That would be a good thing.

As far as the car is concerned IMO they can do whatever they want... But I'd like to see the final segment be the longest one not the shortest. Within a lap of the green flag on that segment we usually know who the winner will be.
