I didn't even know this was a thing until I saw one at a shopping mall in Wichita, Kansas called 3:16 Slot Car Raceway.

Interesting pictures though! Cool to see and learn about something that I know virtually nothing about. Are there typically any spectators or are the only people there usually people who are racing? It might be cool to stop by and see it in action if that's a thing.

One of the racers from 3:16 came here to a $5000 bracket race earlier this year and I am going to try and make it back there sometime next year. People will come in and watch for a while, but it is mainly a competitor's sport and not so much of a spectator sport. But anyone is welcome to watch. The big one every year in January is the 1/25th Million bracket race. It was in Oklahoma City for 3 years and then it was held in Tennessee last year and this year and next year it is at NHRA Pro Stock racer Bo Butner's shop in southern Indiana. That race will pull in over 1000 cars and pay around $35,000 to the winner depending on the car count. Plus, there are warm up races during the week that has pretty good payouts also.

The craftsmanship on those cars is amazing. I have a couple of questions. What is the red cylinder with the black plunger thingy at the starting line? Number two, can you guys take the motors apart or are they sealed?

That plunger can is filled with Colman fuel and that is what we use to clean the traction glue off of the track. Some motors you can take apart and cut the com on the arm and change the brushes, springs and magnets. But some motors are sealed and you just throw them away.

Some motors have an adjustable endbell that allows you to change the timing on the motor. Another way to change the timing is by twisting the com on the arm. A 38 degree arm will have more torque and a 48 degree arm will have more rpm on the top end. You want to get the right combination with gearing and timing to get the best performance out of a motor.

are you limited on tire size?

It's a pleasure to see what's happening with your racing. Really enjoying the pictures.
My phone pics doesn’t do justice to the cars. Some of the paint jobs on a lot of the cars are show car worthy paint jobs. There are some very nice looking Slotcars all across this Country.

It's going to be a pretty busy week of racing in SOCAL this week. I raced at Piranha last night and left there with both of my cars in the finals. That is 4 wins in a row at that track. I will be racing at Buena Park on Friday night for the start of a 7 race point series and then back again on Saturday. Then I will probably race up in Bakersfield on Sunday.

Last Friday night was the first race of a 7-race points series at Buena Park Raceway. I got the win and Chuck Moiser got a runner up and a semifinal finish to tie me for the lead with 6 points for both of us. Randy Langer had a semifinal finish which put him in 3rd place with 2 points.

Last night was the 2nd points race at BP and I had 3 of 4 cars in the semifinal. I ended up with a win and 2 semifinal finishes which gave me 10 points and put me in the lead with a total of 16 points. Randy Langer runnered up and received 4 points which tied him with Chuck Moiser for 2nd place with a total of 6 points apiece. The next 2 points races are December 9th and 16th.

There are some pretty good races coming up in the next few weeks at Piranha Speedway and Buena Park Raceway. I don't have a flyer yet but the Kings of Speed Dragster race will be held at Buena Park Raceway on December 10th.

I decided to race at Piranha Speedway last night to get dialed in for the Turkey Shoot-Out this weekend and ended up with 2 cars in the finals again. They started the Wed night $300 bracket race a couple months ago and I have won all 5 races I went to. I think I like that track. :D

I have been waiting for the dates to be released for the 2023 million dollar race in Clarksville IN. It is going to be January 18th through the 21st. There are 2 days of warm up races and then a 2 day main event. There will probably be over 1000 cars in the main event big money race. I made my hotel reservations yesterday and made it on the list for the Million Entry shootout. That is one of the races on Thursday that you can race 2 cars and the winner and runner up get their 10 entries into the main event paid for. 10 cars at $50.00 a car is worth $500. They only except 64 cars for that race and they started the list at 9.00am yesterday and it was full within an hour. They have 83 alternates waiting on another list just in case some cancel. My 2 cars are locked in the 47 and 48 spots on the list of 64 so I will be racing in that race. I will also race in the JP Dragster shootout on Thursday and the Gambler race on Wednesday. Then I will have 10 cars in the main event on Friday and Saturday. The official flyer will be out in the next few days and I will put it on here when I get it so you can see the entry fees and payouts for all of the races.

DAMN! Sounds like a really busy day with 10 cars entered for the day. Hardly gives you time to set up the car and perhaps tune it a little better after each run. (Does it sound like I know what I'm talking about? I know zero about dog racing of any kind.)

Best of luck at all venues. Hope you smoke the competition.

The Gambler bracket race on Wed has a 7-car limit and it is run in one day. But the main event race that has a 10-car limit is a 2-day race Fri and Sat. They run the first 2 rounds on Friday and then try to finish on Saturday. But if it gets too late, they will finish on Sunday. Another racer from my home track in California and myself are going together and we are staying there until Monday anyway, so if it doesn't finish until Sunday, it won't be a problem. He has never been to any of the NHRA race shops, so we are going to drive 100 miles north to Brownsburg IN on Monday and I'm going to take him to John Forces shop and a few others and introduce him to some of the crew guys and give him a behind the scenes tour. We will probably stay there a couple of days and I will take him by the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and stop by a few IndyCar shops also. There are some pretty good eating spots around Indy that we will visit also. :) We have to kill some time because we are going to stop at a slot car track in Oklahoma City on the way back home to race on Friday and Saturday. It will be a little over a 2-week trip.

Sounds like a fun trip. Hope everything goes well and your friend enjoys the "behind the scenes" look at the shops. Happy that you can get to meet up with some of the people you worked with over the years also. All in all, sounds good. But you most likely will be glad to return to sunny California.

There were 134 of the best bracket cars on the West Cost at the Turkey Shoot-Out at Piranha Speedway and Hobbies yesterday. We started racing at 10.00 am and the finals was at around 8.00 pm. In the finals was myself and Lou a retired New York City police officer. I got the win and the $833.00 payout. Counting the $300 I won on Wednesday night made it a $1100 week at Piranha. Now I have to get ready for the 3rd annual Kings of speed dragster race in 2 weeks at Buena Park Raceway. I won the first one and runnered up on the second one.

Nitro is on a roll :punkrocke
I have had my share of lucky rounds to get those wins.:) I have a lot of work to do to get ready to go to Indiana. I have already started ordering parts to restock my race box with motors, gears, pinions, braid and tires. I'm pulling the motors out of my 7 dragsters so I can rebuild and label them so they can go back in the same car. I'm going to put new motors in and get some laps on them so I can get some numbers on them and then I will have to do the same thing with my back up motors. I want to have data on both motors for each car so that I have an idea what to dial if I have to change motors between rounds in a race. I just picked up another controller so now I will have 2 backups. I'm going to take it apart and shorten the trigger spring to get a little more trigger tension like my other 2 controllers have. I'm trying to keep myself from red lighting. I ordered 7 sets of new tires, and I will true some of the tires I have been running and I will send some of them out and get new ones mounted so I will have 2 sets for each car. I think I'm going to get a few of my funny cars and door cars ready and race them until it is time to go to Indiana because I don't want to wear out my dragster tires and motors after I get them ready for the million. But first I'm going to run the dragsters in the 3rd annual King of Speed dragster race next week at Buena Park Raceway. I won the first one and runnered up and semifinal in the 2nd one last year. Damn, I didn't work this hard before I retired.:D

$$$ in. $$$$$$$ out. ;)

If ya wanna win ya gotta spend the bucks. And time. Go for it Nitro. 👍
You 100% right. I will be paying around $1000 just in entry fees for the 5 races I will be racing in at the million and that doesn't count any buybacks. :)

I headed over to Bakersfield yesterday for a New Year's Day race and pulled a perfect reaction time in the final and walked away with a win and $300. Not a bad way to start the 2023 racing season. Now I have 3 more races this week in SoCal and 2 more next week before I leave next week for the Million race in Southern Indiana.

So far, I'm 2 for 2 in 2023 after winning Sun and Wed. Now I'm going for number 3 tonight. If Cody doesn't make the money rounds tonight and if I could make the final round, I could lock up the points championship tonight and I wouldn't need to race in the last points race next Fri night which are double points. That would be good for me since we are leaving early the next morning for the Indiana race. I could already have all of my cars serviced and everything could already be loaded up and ready to go. I will know in a few hours...plus it would allow us the option to leave a day earlier and hit a race in Oklahoma City on the way to Indiana. :D

That’s awesome!!

I love it when a plan comes together. I am 3 for 3 in 2023 and I swept all of the points last night to lock up the Championship and added another $500 to my winnings this week which brings the total to $1000 for the week with another race left to run later today. Now I won’t have to run the last points race next Friday night. So now I can just concentrate on servicing my cars and packing my stuff up for the trip back East next weekend.

Congrats dude.

Since I locked up the points series Championship last week I don’t need to race in the last points race Friday night so we have decided to leave a couple of days early and stop in Oklahoma City and race this weekend on the way to the Indiana race. Instead of leaving Saturday morning I’m driving up to Gorman tomorrow and loading my stuff in my buddies car and we are leaving early Thursday morning. It should be about a 15 day trip. I foresee a lot of good hard racing and a lot of good eating in the next couple of weeks😃

Im sorry it has took so long to post anything but as soon as I got home from the Oklahoma and Indiana races I left town again to go spend a few weeks with some friends. While I was home I received the dragster that they gave me for winning the Buena Park Bracket points series. Here are a few pics of it.

I’m starting to get a nice selection of dragsters in my box. They have all been in the winner's circle except the green one because it is brand new.
