On Going - Songs You Like

After all I've been through, the majority of what I listen to are those uplifting songs that many would describe as depressing. This is one of those songs, so if you hate depressing songs, you probably shouldn't listen to this one. It's basically saying how that one person could come along and change your life in an instant. It's a Christian tune with the "one person" being God, but as usual, I like to think of that one person as possibly an old friend or some random stranger that you've never met before.

Having 80s flashbacks...someone please send help...LOL....dang tv commercials...;)

And now for something completely different:
My husband and myself saw these guys open for Coheed and Cambria back in October and they blew us away. They are a 7 piece from New Jersey. They play a mix of progressive rock, jazz fusion, classical, metal, psychedelic and a dash of pop. It's really impossible to describe. They have a violin and horn section. And vocalist Salvatore Marrano has a great, soulful voice.

If any of that sounds good to you, do yourself a favor and check these guys out. They rock.

They've got too much going on in their music, or at least that's my opinion.

Here I am again, late to the party :D We had one of these over on the other site. It's fun to see what other people listen to. I'm an "Old Dog" so most of mine will be Jurassic Rock and Blues :punkrocke:jamming:

This is for my husband and any other metalheads out there

"Dimebag" Darrell Abbott. Murdered on stage 10 years ago today...

and of course...

Here's one for for the guy with the Joe Bonamassa avatar.

Thanks. I like those two together a lot. That's a cool video you posted. I like this one here a ton too.

The emotion that Joe conveys with the guitar from about the 4:30 mark til about the 8:00 mark is just incredible and only approached by the feeling conveyed by Beth's vocals throughout the song. Just amazing to me.

Well to tone it down a notch or 2 I went to the Seekers 50th anniversary concert 2 weeks ago.

I loved it. All the original members and Judith Durham is 71 now and her voice is as strong as ever.
I wouldn't have missed it for the world.

Joe mostly a Les Paul guy, but he sure can make that Tele sing, can't he :) Beth never leaves anything on the table either, they work well together. Joe kills this ZZ Top tune too :D I love that row of Marshalls on the back line :jamming:

And one more...my favourite. I can remember listening to it when I was 5 years old with my Mom.

Yeah, I'm a Strat guy myself, but I've had Les Pauls in the past as well. I've had all kinds of guitars over the years from Gibson ES335 styles to Gibson SG style (by far the least favorite guitar I ever had, but my first 6-string electric). Strats are definitely my favorite, and I really dislike Teles myself quite a bit, but some people really can play them well. Albert Collins is an all-time favorite of mine and he only played Teles as far as know. In fact, he was knows as "The Master Of The Telecaster".

I haven't owned too many different guitars, but I had a '74 SG with P90s that was pretty sweet, but I traded it for '75 Guild S-100. I still have it and a '64 Strat that I'm the original owner. The wife let me buy a Les Paul a few years ago. I use them all. I've never been a Tele guy either. I don't know what it was, I just didn't like them. Jeff Beck used them and that's what Joe Walsh used on the original recording of Funk 49 through and Fender Champ with all the knobs rolled :D

That good info. I just don't like how thin a tele sounds to me. Joe Walsh is great. Funk 49 is an incredible tune. Have you hard anything off of his more recent release Analog Man? It's really good. Here'stwo of my favorite tracks off of it.

I love Joe Walsh. Did you see the whole Guitar Center Sessions with him? It was one of the better ones IMO.

Oh yeah. I was going to ask you the same thing. It was awesome. My son really liked it too. Although, at his age, 20, he didn't get as much out of it as I did. But, he had an even better appreciation for my era's musicians and our tastes.

CHECK THIS OUT!! A great song and a cool cause!

Celebrated blues rock master Joe Bonamassa is helping Christmas to arrive a bit early this season with the release of a special, all-new never-before-heard Christmas song that will be available to download and share online for free. In the spirit of the season, for every individual download of the song between December 10th and 25th, Bonamassa will donate money to the Keeping the Blues Alive (KTBA) foundation, a non-profit he founded in 2011 and oversees to promote the heritage of the blues to the next generation, fund music scholarships, and supplement the loss of music education in public schools. Bonamassa’s goal is to raise $25,000 in total, and every individual download will help get him closer to that goal.
