Patent Office Throws Yellow Flag On Redskins Trademark

Its sexy to be an armchair activist right now. It was sexy to save the polar bears, which had a growing population, in global warming. It was sexy to support the public masturbator who started the Kony 2012 campaign. It was sexy to watch a completely biased Netflix film titled "blackfish" & raise hell against SeaWorld. Now its sexy to have the redskins name stripped away. People will find anything & everything to be offended about until they're blue in the face, while they do nothing to reverse the issues except for maybe a few Facebook likes here n there. People read one thing in the news & believe it right away without doing any research on their own.

Sea World is ******. Sea Mammals are wiser and more emotionally evolved than we are and deserve a real life their Genetics require. Juuuust sayin'. Preach over. Haha

I know what you mean though. It really pisses me off.

I bet if you google "how to tell if you're a pedophile".. You'll come up with distu

Theres alot of good being done at sea world ppl fail to recognize & research themselves. Its not all puppy dogs & rainbows but this aint a perfect world either.

I cannot wait for the "Irish-American Notre Dame Football boycott of 2022"

Sooo off base.

Oh also for the record, because I see you quoted me before I could make my FINAL edit, I was quoting Andy and his googling of "redskin racist history" if you google direct searches, you will find direct results. In the redskin search, you'll find bull**** wiki pages and bull**** huffington post articles. If you google some strange **** like pedophilia, you'll probably find a lot of pedophilia. Lol dammit I changed my mind and didn't feel like posting it and you made me feel obligated to post it anyways. :D

I understand how documentaries with a political message work. I've felt the way I feel about marine mammals in captivity loong before "Blackfish" was ever released. I don't think they are mistreated, I just think it is impossible to properly accommodate them in captivity..

bottom line young guys.....all tha while , lib wonks are collectin social media data from all this kinda lib crapola.

"peas in a pod " .....will use later....'14 / '16 elections ta name 2 .

same database where buncha obamacare sign ups came from prolly ? certainly '12 potus outcome.

If they were the Cleveland N*ggerheads, they would be. Use some ******* sense.
It's not beyond the PC police. If they win the Redskins change the Browns will be next. I think they will keep the name tho because there's a high school that's something like 60% native American and they have the same nic name. TV and Hollywood are the blame for the negative feelings toward the name Redskins. Native Americans used to call themselves Redskins. Besides Native Americans aren't red skinned they are more tanned skinned, so the football team being called Redskins shouldn't offend anyone unless your just lookin for something to be offended by.

I can see both sides to this argument. I think the name will be changed, as Redskin really is kind of offensive when you think about it. If there was a team the Whiteskins or the Blackskins it would have changed long before. Now the one thing I strongly disagree with is changing the names to teams like The Braves or the Chiefs. Both those names are signs of courage and power and aren't really offensive. I myself attended Central Michigan University where the school is named the Chippewa's. Named after a large tribe that still lives in that area. The college took the name Chippewa's to honor the tribe for what was once there land. And with also permission from the tribe themselves they acquired the name. The school also agree to never produce a mascot because it may be seen as insulting to the tribe. I seen an article earlier today from some crap magazine stating Central Michigan college as well as other colleges like Florida State need to change there names as well because they are offensive. To me that is absolute crap, as I can see atleast with the Chippewa naming it is to honor the tribe with the tribes actual permission and not to insult it. As for names like the Braves and Chiefs, like I said Braves and Chiefs are signs of courage and power. Like calling a team the Warriors, or the Generals. I would be 100% against changing of the teams names.

I hope you understand that they honor the name "redskins" just as much as they honor "braves", "chiefs", "seminoles" etc.

Oh, I get that completely. I'm against big government in all it's forms. I don't think the government should be stepping in on this at all. I do, however, think the NFL should tell this guy that what he is doing, by keeping the name as it is, is hurting the brand and the league and it's other 31 owners aren't happy about it. It's pretty much what I thought about the Donald Sterling/Clippers thing, too.

But it really isn't. Most people up in arms about this are the fake white guilt media and the small interest groups. Many people are either is favor of the name and its rich history, or just don't give a damn. The problem with this country is the the small interest groups or minorities are the ones being catered to, because they are the loudest. People are starting to rise up though, and in a few years I really hope the smaller interest groups get shut out. Let people vote with their dollars, and if it truly is a problem you will know soon enough.

One thing I feel the need to clarify here, is that I'm about as far from a liberal as you can get for the most part. I don't think you have to be a non-thinking liberal conformist to be offended by something that you yourself find racist and offensive. I'm sure that in years past, some of you would have accused me of being a liberal for feeling that blacks deserved equal treatment, because at that time that was the "PC liberal agenda" movement going on. I'm not equating the two. The name Redskins is, in no way, nearly on the level of the treatment Native Americans, blacks or some other minorities have suffered over the years. However, finding it offensive and saying so, is not a response to a liberal media (that I largely distrust, by the way) or any other influence. It is simply how I feel as a well reasoned individual.

On this subject I try not to make it a conservative vs liberal thing. Because I don't think it is. I think it is dumb media and both ends making a big deal out of everything. Plus the Lefty and Righties are in the same boat now to me. Both want to change this country for the worse.

Buffalo Bills: Might offend anyone in Buffalo not named Bill. Time for a name change.

New England Patriots: Calls into question the patriotism of those outside of New England. Offensive. Time for a name change.

Pittsburgh Steelers: Could offend environmentalists. Time for a name change.

San Diego Chargers: Encourages credit card purchasing, which damages the economy. Time for a name change.

Houston Texans: Too exclusive, a slap in the face to those not from Texas. Time for a name change.

New York Giants: Exploits a physical deformity. Time for a name change.

Minnesota Vikings: Too violent. Conjures images of pillaging and plunder. Time for a name change.

New Orleans Saints/Arizona Cardinals: Reference to the Catholic Church rankings may offend some. Time for a name change.

bahahahahaha roomates and I got a good laugh out of that

The thing to keep in mind is that the Washington Redskins represent our nation's capital. The most popular sports team that damn near everyone who represents the country supports has a name that a lot of people find offensive because it is a derogatory slur. Yeah, that's a great image. No wonder the rest of the world sees America as Neck Nation.

Who gives a **** about who our douche bag politcians support. The whole thing is superficial, it is just a friggin name, one that doesnt hurt anyone.

It doesnt change anything, and it will not change the treatment of native Americans, with or without the name their lives remain the same. But it does change the Redskins, one of the oldest teams in the NFL.

And they will always be the Redskins to me, and most everyone else.

The Redskins don't represent the capital.....they don't even have anything to do anymore with D.C. They practice in VA, their stadium is in MD, and they suck wherever they play.

The rest of the world know what the hell a Redskin is, or, and give a $hit?

Gotta disagree with this statement. Just because you don't find it hurtful doesn't mean it isn't hrtful to someone else. Just like the word retard. May not be hurtful to someone, but it damn sure is to others. And besides, it is just a name, so what harm is there in changing it?

And, um, why couldn't they represent our capital with a different name?

They should have a different name. Just change it and get it over with. Snyder will make even more money when they do because Redskins fans will buy all the new logo and name gear quicker than they get a paycheck. Look how much Jacksonville and Miami sales went up when they changed their logo and jersey.

I posted this here. http://racing-forums.com/threads/liberal-head-explosion.49673/#post-787884
[I have a good friend of over 45 years that is 100% Native American. His Charter Boat is named "Native Sons". He say's that all of the Native Americans that he knows or has heard of is aware that the Washington Redskins outcry is a liberal/ACLU fueled publicity stunt. He say's that the word redskin doesn't bother them at all. He also says that the real redskins are the yankee's that come down and foolishly lay out on our white sand beaches in the sun too long. :D/QUOTE]

I'm really fed up with this politically correct bullshlt. Pretty soon we will have to change our names to genderless interpretations approved by the name police. Marty- male or female, jonnie- male or female, toni- male or female etc

Why we are dealing with this tragic and oppressive and gravely serious issue:

Please remember that the ticket street broker at the track is just that a "street ticket broker". Please dont ever call them a "Scalper", and if you have I am just praying that God will mercy on your worthless soul(s).

I think the term retard is offensive too, and I dont use the word.

But on the hand if the Redskins changed to the Rednecks I would be honored rather than offended.

So one word is offensive to you, the other word is offensive to others. But f*** them, they ain't got no right to be offended, cause it don't hurt no one. o_O

What's funny is that the crowd that complains about political correctness is the first crowd to get offended and demand people be fired when someone offends them. At least the "liberals" are equal opportunity in their outrage.

There is a big difference between the redskins and the retards. A little common sense can go a long way.

Retard, insults those born with special needs, or disabilities. I dont think much more needs to be said, the physical diabilties they endure is a daily battle and most of the special needs folks I know have more grace than those who dont. I have not heard one of them express bitterness over the difficulties they were born with, there is something really low life about trying to add more weight to a genuine physical weight or problem.

As for names I have been called a redneck, honkie, cracker, whatever, and I would be more likely to laugh at myself and toss a white trash label out at myself in the process. It doesn't have to be a problem and it is not, it is that simple.
Be proud of who you are and try not take it to seriously.

And I see the Redskin tag in the same way. If I was convinced that a majority of native Americans were offended, I would be more accommodating. I was raised using the N word in the 60s, but after I learned as a teenager how hurtful and offensive the term was, I changed my ways or habit.

I would do the same in this case but I haven't seen any widespread outrage just a few self apponted folks trying to screw with a buisness model that has existed since 1933. And one that is far more postive than negative.
http://www.redskins.com/community/charitable-foundation.html

I would respect the handful of protesters more if they applied their energy toward more worthy causes like the linked example. BTW, I did adopt a special needs child, and I think the latter suggestion applies toward the protesters as well. I could have dwelled on being a redneck and the associated grievances, but I embraced it and found something better to do. I think they should too.
