Penske switching to Ford in 2013

Penske: "It was apparent we need to win a NASCAR Sprint Cup championship, and we've been trying to do it alone"
 
Penske tells @bobpockrass of "Science Daily" that he'll run 2 Cup cars, 2 Nationwide cars and 1 Nationwide car will eventually move to Cup

Roger Penske said the "chance to benchmark" was important to Penske Racing. The company had no competition among the Dodge camp

So what you're hearing from Penske is ... despite positive spin from team/Dodge about results ... Not good enough without more cars.
 
Roger Penske: "This was a watershed time to take a good look in the rear-view mirror and also out front...It was a tough decision."
 
Penske contract with Dodge was up after this year.

Roger Penske said timing was important with the transition This give us 12 months before we need to be on the racetrack

Statement from Dodge in regards to Penske leaving after 2012 ...

Roger (Penske) has made a business decision to accept an offer with another manufacturer. We wish Roger and Penske Racing much success in the future.

"We are committed to work with Penske Racing to compete at the highest level, win races and contend for championships this season.

“Our motorsports involvement isn't limited to NASCAR. We do value our NASCAR program and will be evaluating the opportunities available moving forward. As those opportunities materialize, we'll reveal our 2013 plans, not only in NASCAR but in other forms of motorsports."


Translation..... As soon as we figure out what the heck we're going to do, we'll get back to you.

Guess Jack will have 2 more minions for next years 500.Sure hope Roger doesn't plan on winning any Daytona or Dega races soon.It will be a long time before his 2 drivers are moved to the top of the list to win a race.

Why won't anybody listen . There is the answer , it's exactly what I have been saying for the past year . Two cars feeding info in about set up can't beat fifteen cars feeding info in about set ups . To Roger this has become apparent , to this forum ...not so much.
 
Does Roger really think Jack is going to share info with him?The only way I see that happening is if Roger buys his cars and engines from Jack.and even then he won't get the good info.He will get what rpm gets.

What in heck is Robbie going to do with all that money and support but go backward. This sport is about information . When you arrive at the track without a competitive setup , money cannot make you competitive ,teammates can.

Jack has competition for top dog status with Ford. I doubt Jack wanted this too much, but we'll have to wait and see what he says. A high profile organization like Penske doesn't come in to the Ford camp as and end of chain feeder.

Ford makes more sense than Chevy. Penske will be a big fish with Ford, not so much with Chevy. Ford's are also showing an advantage the past year or 2, even though they didn't capitalize on it.

Lets not forget where Bad Brad is from. He might look pretty good doing donuts in a Ford Fusion while tweeting during a commercial. Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetttt.

The guys that work at the Ford plants that still exist in Detroit would be happy. Miller LITE + BRAD + FORD = COOL

Im not a Ford fan. But D TOWN needs something to be happy about.

It was over for Dodge when they missed getting Gibbs and MWR . With Penske and Petty they would have been a formidible force . Straight downhill from there on.

Or like what was mentioned earlier they will go after another Team. However which team can they get without that said team breaking a contract. This could be good for the lower end/breaking through teams like BK Racing or Front Row Motorsports.

Maybe. If Dinger makes the chase, Sam wont get that ride. Maybe Discount Tire, whose very successful partnership is up in 2013, makes a move to cup with Sam.

I could be wrong, but I just don't see Dinger making the chase. I honestly think Penske sign Dinger the 1 year contract just as seat filler for Sam. Penske really wants Sam back in cup and I think it makes most since teaming him back up with Pennzoil. I think the Dinger thing is just a experiment.
