Penske switching to Ford in 2013

I think AJ is FAR more talented that people realize and a better fit for Shell. Sam's shyness hurts him with sponsors. Shell said from day on that their deal with Penske isn't really about who drives the car, and Roger really likes AJ. He likes Sam too, but Sam needs to win in NW before he gets back to cup. Penske South has completely changed their attitude sine Brad cam on board. It's no longer good enough to ride around and keep the sponsor happy.

Eury Sr has been very vocal that Brad Keselowski is the guy that's driving the changes at Penske, and I agree. When Brad wins Penske's first championship, he'll get a Gordon type lifetime deal from Roger.

Jack has competition for top dog status with Ford. I doubt Jack wanted this too much, but we'll have to wait and see what he says. A high profile organization like Penske doesn't come in to the Ford camp as and end of chain feeder.

Right, Jack has a big operation and influence with ford. Penske has a bigger operation and isn't going to take a backseat to anybody. Move over Jack, there's a new sheriff in town...:)

Jack as the bigger FORD OPERATION. Jack is Ford, and nothing will change that.

Penske could buy Jack's operation with the money he's got in his front pocket. I'm not saying Jack's operation is small, it's that Penske's is so large.
Budwieser produces more beer in a day than Sam Adams as a example. The fit hits the shan one day, who gets the attention and is attended to first?

2013 NASCAR go's back to a more "Stock Appearing Car" ......Teams immediatly start swapping brands for the most aerodynamic brand.
Really yall did'nt see this coming?

Okay I need to remember yall need a cold one and some wings to munch on in order to follow my humor
Anyone remember the aero wars of the early mid eightys? Think footballs cateyes and greenhouses.

Penske's Walt Czarnecki made it clear PR plans to use its own Engine department but work closely with Roush Yates on sharing.

Dumb move for both, especially for Penske in the early stages. Unless Ford tells Penske how Yates got those engines running so good without all the failures they had in '10.

Hard to say, it may work out better for Roush than Yates initially. There's a lot of knowledge there in that parring.

"...work closely with Roush Yates on sharing."

I take that to mean just the engine end of things, and I don't see Penske having much to offer in the way of the FR9.

If I understand it correctly, FORD developed the FR9 - not Roush or Yates...

Interesting.

From the article:
"To me, when you've got a stable of three [Cup] drivers, you've got to make sure you're able to provide the equipment that's necessary for us to try to get to the winner's circle. ... I think our friends at Dodge will work really hard to help make that happen."

Well, maybe not so much...

How about this wee nugget...

"Let's reflect a little bit on 2009," Penske said. "I guess we beat all the Fords. I guess we beat all the Toyotas. We just didn't beat all the Hendrick [cars]. If anybody has an insight on how to do that, I'll gladly add one more person to our staff at Penske Racing in 2010."

YEP! And I find this interesting. He doesn't allign himself with Hendrick, whom he could not beat, he alligns himself with DORF!

I've been thinking about the timing of this announcement. Why now? I'm sure Penske and Ford were talking for some time, but Roger didn't pull the trigger until now.

If I remember correctly, Kurt was real fast during speed weeks. I wonder if Roger took notice and that was the straw that sent him to a bigger camp.

Good move for Ford and Penske. Ford needs more than one powerhouse, to many eggs in one basket.

I doubt that HMS and RCR trade Bowtie secrets, Penske will figure out how to run fast Fords with or without Rousch
