Phoenix Pre Race Thread

I wish I lived closer to this track. Looking at that layout makes me feel like I'd like to be sitting at the end of that backstretch going into turn #3.

My wife has family in Phoenix, we're thinking of flying out for a quick visit and the race in the spring.

Make sure you give us a good recon report. If I make the investment in a trip like that I'd like to make sure I'm in a good place to see some passing.

With a broken foot, instead of doing a backflip, Carl Edwards celebrate his 2009 win at Phoenix with a somersault.

Thought about driving out there as it's only 5 hours away but I decided what did I buy my LG flatscreen for, to watch racing that isn't at Las Vegas Motor Speedway...

I can't wait either, I love the uniqueness of this track. The shortcutting of the dog leg make for some serious slide jobs and great racing. Doubt it will be as eventful as last year, but hey who knows!

That's about the only thing I dont like about this track now.

The way these guys are swerving down there and coming up on traffic is just alarming.

Everytime I see someone dive down there and coming out with such speed I always think he's going to T-bone a guy.

Yeah no kidding, it's sketchy as all hell sometimes. I feel like the only way the shortcut works is if the guy on the outside checks up and let's the guy in. If I recall correctly most weren't really making much progress by cutting it, the on track line still had the better speed but once the guy comes back up on the track the guy on the outside would have to let up otherwise it'd be a wreck. I like the options it gives drivers though, it's pretty cool to see.

That's how Burton wiped out Danica here last year. Hamlin would have earlier this year too on the last lap but Kez backed out.

Wallace got into a confrontation with Chad Frewaldt. No I don't know who that is either. I guess it was serious enough that punches may have been thrown.

Bubba did get a little close coming up on the 38 but the 38 is an idiot for wrecking a regular in practice. shoves hell punches were warrented from bubba.

If I'm wallace, I'm pissed. As far as penalty. BS, I've seen worse.

Maybe, but while he was still in his truck defenseless? Questionable.

The 38 was wayy up the hill going into 3.

That's the fastest I've ever seen a NASCAR driver run though.

It's understandable why he is pissed but it's practice he needs to keep his cool. I'm sure they have another truck. Now if it was the race that'd be a different story with the title "round one ding ding"

Looked like Wallace not only came down, but then he jammed on the brakes and he didn't have him cleared anyway. That doesn't give the driver behind much of a chance to miss him.

that's how I see it. Risky move by bubba considering who he's jamming on entry.
