Phoenix RACE thread --

I wonder if the points change has anything to do with it.. I know I feel a bit 'hollow' as a fan going into this season.

I like to think the problem is the FOX crew. I doubt it though.

It's a points thing for me, this is the first time in 25 years that I have not watched a Daytona 500.

It's not a "boycott" really..it just doesnt excite me the way its being ran.

I hear ya. The racing has been worth watching. You're still here posting so you have some form of "give a damn" left. Haha

Yeah maybe a little, i'll be honest, I want to see those numbers keep dropping. That way Nascar may wake up a little bit.

Pretty simple for me. When Speed was around, I saw spot after spot promoting Nascar racing, weeks in advance of the season. Also being shown on the network were racing news shows which had sprinkled in among other the other types of racing even more Nascar spots. I along with many other racing fans, aren't interested in all the mostly goofy stick and ball shows that are on Fox currently. So I think this has hurt the racing ratings to some extent because there isn't a broad based racing station to tune into to get the latest racing info. Also because of the blackout, not only new fans but the older fans aren't being enticed to watch and reminded when races are being shown unless I guess you watch the off topic stick n ball programming.

Daytona 500 ratings were down as well, but you can throw those out because of the rain.

This is has to be troubling for Nascar, even with Jr winning the previous week, the ratings were down nearly 10%. That's not good at all.......

Willing to bet that the Junior fans were all watching both races, Junior has won at both tracks and no Junior fan worth his salt is gonna miss a possible win

I don't like the points deal either, especially this year but I'm not gonna punish myself and not watch. Plus Jeff only has a couple seasons left so I have to take it all in.:D

nascar not that big of a deal to most people. I'm the only one that watches nascar were I work. only one other guy even new that JR won the 500 out of 20 guys. All the talk at break and lunch time is the NFL draft and the ravens. the orioles are talk about more then nascar. if i bring up nascar they just look at me and say really.
