Former NASCAR driver Tyler Walker arrested after chase, drugs involved:

Two California residents were taken into custody Wednesday morning after leading Nevada, Arizona and Utah Highway Patrol officers on a high-speed pursuit. The driver, Timothy Tyler Andrew Walker, 33, and passenger, Raelie Hann McDonald, 30, both of Hermosa Beach, were arrested on a variety of drug and alcohol charges. UHP Cpl. Todd Johnson said his department was notified of a pursuit traveling northbound on I-15 in Arizona at approximately 7:30 a.m. The car had failed to stop for Nevada troopers, who were pursuing the vehicle for speeding and felony evading. Troopers searched the car, finding methamphetamines, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and alcohol in the vehicle. Walker is a former Nationwide and Truck Series driver suspended for violating NASCAR's drug policy in 2007.

Darn that Nascar drug policy.:D

Hey DP. Would you have believed me 8 years ago if I had told you someday you could have ball room at Bristol?

It wouldn't surprise me a bit. That place is quite the Colosseum. It's a great place to watch a race.
I was there once. Spring race. Kyle won. JJ finished 3rd. I sat in three different seat spots. Spread out. But i sat near a turn. Looking down was a bad view. If I ever go back, Im sitting mid track for sure.

JJ to run NW...

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Five-time Sprint Cup champion Jimmie Johnson will compete in the March 2 Nationwide Series race at Phoenix for JR Motorsports.
Johnson will drive the No. 5 Chevrolet for the organization co-owned by Hendrick Motorsports teammate Dale Earnhardt Jr.. It will be his first time in a Nationwide car since finishing second in a JRM car at Watkins Glen in 2011.
"I appreciate Junior letting me run one of his cars,'' Johnson said in a team release. "My goal is to make my team owner so proud that, perhaps, he'll invite me back more often than once every two years.''
Johnson has driven in 92 NW races with one victory -- Chicagoland Speedway in 2001.

You just had to say it.

lol JJ did say he wanted more practice on the new configuration, so it's easy to read between the lines. Nothing at Homestead mattered when Brad finished 15th, so that blown bead is what cost him his shot at the title. Obviously, he still wouldn't have won after that rear line blew.

I did call it before the chase started. If Brad could put the pressure on, JJ would over drive and make mistakes.

I have 2 seats for all the races there in the spring/fall. Those seats are dead center on the backstretch across from the start/finish line. They are on the aisle with no seats in front of us allowing for us to sit back, stretch our legs and enjoy the show without ever having to get up for anyone or anything, exception..... the National Anthem. For the fall race I also have two additional seats @ the start/finish line slightly higher than the flag stand. From either vantage point the entire track and racing line can be viewed.

Sounds like the seats I had in turn 3 for years. Aisle, with an open row in front. I usually have to get aisle seats anyway, for my father's convenience. It's easier on his artificial hips if he can slop out into the aisle.

NASCAR drivers make Super Bowl picks: Super Bowl 47 is set to kick off Sunday in New Orleans and when it comes to the NASCAR community, there are a number of opinions as to whether Baltimore or San Francisco will capture the Lombardi Trophy.
• Green Bay Packer fan Matt Kenseth is sticking with the NFC San Francisco 49ers. "The Super Bowl could go either way but I'll stick with the NFC and go with the 49ers. I think (Colin) Kaepernick adds another element to the game and he's going to be tough to stop ... but man, the Ravens are looking good too. It could be a pretty entertaining game."
• Dale Earnhardt Jr. is disappointed his Washington Redskins are not playing for the Lombardi Trophy, however he believes either Baltimore or San Francisco could emerge victorious. "The Ravens seem to be on a course of destiny. There's a lot of veterans on that team that know what it takes, so going into that game I think they'll be the best prepared team. But, the 49ers have been able to overcome adversity early in games so I expect it to be pretty close.
• Chicago Bears fan Danica Patrick says she's stuck when it comes to pulling for the Ravens or 49ers. "Bob Parsons (Executive Chairman and Founder of Patrick's sponsor Go Daddy.com) is from Baltimore and he obviously wants the Ravens to win so I feel some alliance needing to cheer for Baltimore, but, a really want the 49ers to win so I don't know. I don't really care. If the Bears aren't in it I don't really care".
• Sprint Cup Series champ Brad Keselowski gives the nod to the Baltimore Ravens saying their retiring All-Pro Middle Linebacker Ray Lewis tips the balance toward the AFC Champs. "It's Ray Lewis ... because he brings a level of heart and passion that's unparalleled in what his sport has and I want to be that guy in our sport."
• Nationwide Series driver Travis Pastrana is native of Annapolis Maryland and will be at the game rooting for his Ravens and hopes the emotion doesn't get the best of them. "The defense is going to be on fire!" Pastrana joked ... "Ray (Lewis) has been crying when he comes out ... and I'm like, don't cry man, and don't tire yourself out before the game! I'm pumped."
* No matter which two teams were in the Super Bowl Kevin Harvick was going to the big game as a guest of his sponsor Budweiser. But, there's no secret as to which team he'll be rooting for. "I've been a lifelong 49ers fan ... I grew up as a kid in Bakersfield, California. It hasn't always been pretty over the last several years but to see them play now will make the day go a lot more exciting. I'll have 49ers gear on for sure. I bought my friend Kasey Kahne a nice, personalized 49ers jersey that he can wear too, so I'm holding him to wearing that thing". Kahne, a Washington State native, is a Seattle Seahawks fans.
* Kurt Busch likes the fact that the Harbaugh brothers will be coaching on opposing sidelines, but he's also hoping that whoever wins it will be a lopsided game like the collegiate national championship game played out between Alabama and Notre Dame. "It was a blowout. That means a lot of people tuned off college football and I hope they're waiting for NASCAR and they can tune in NASCAR when it fires up. So, I'm hoping for a blowout ... people don't like the Super Bowl and they can't wait for the Daytona 500. That's what I'm rooting for.
* Kyle Busch is a Denver Broncos fan and he'll be at the game Sunday. "What's weird is its two teams that, to me, they don't spark an interest. The Broncos would or the Chicago Bears would or the Patriots would for me but its two almost forgotten teams so it's kind of unique that you get those two in the Super Bowl which is cool. Also having the brotherly rivalry (between the two head coaches) going on there I know what that's like, so that's cool. But, if I had to pick one, it's a tough one to pick, but I like the niners".

An update on Tyler Walker.

Ex-NASCAR driver scheduled to appear in court

Walker allegedly hit speeds of 150 mph in gorge

A former NASCAR driver who led police on a high-speed chase through Nevada, Arizona and Utah is scheduled to appear in 5th District Court on Tuesday in St. George for his initial appearance.

Timothy Tyler Andrew Walker, 33, failed to stop for police in Nevada for speeding early Wednesday morning. He then led police northbound on I-15 through the Virgin River Gorge and reached speeds estimated at 150 miles per hour, according to a probable cause statement.

Two Utah Highway Patrol officers were able to deflate the tires of Walker’s 2007 BMW 750 Li sedan after releasing spike strips. The vehicle came to a stop 1.5 miles later. According to the statement, a UHP trooper attempted to approach the vehicle, but Walker allegedly drove off at 80 mph with flat tires.

Walker stopped again, and was finally apprehended after trying to flee on foot. A passenger, Raelle Hann McDonald, 29, was also taken into custody.

Some Jeff Gordon news.
New Look Coming for Jeff Gordon

Jeff Gordon’s No. 24 Sprint Cup Series ride will have a different look this season after the sale of long-time sponsor DuPont’s paint business.

The Carlyle Group purchased the division and plans to change its name to Axalta Coating Systems. That means the end of the DuPont brand’s involvement with Gordon’s car that dates back to 1992.

“While these are big changes for us, our commitment to the No. 24 team, Jeff Gordon and NASCAR remains the same,” said John McCool, President of ACS. “We're proud to continue our sponsorship of the No. 24 team and Jeff Gordon in 2013."
