Random NASCAR Stuff to talk about.....

Here's another thought. How about increasing the size of the spoiler thereby decreasing the speed, but greatly enhancing handling and reducing drafting. It is no great shakes to see drafting at 200 mph or even 120 mph and all the cars in a row. Cars at 100 mph with a large spoiler maneuvering all over the track would put the excietment back into Nascar.

Judging from the pictures I've seen of Andy he looks like he's about 22-23 years old. He's also one of those people that spouts off without taking the time to think things through. Add that to the fact that he's generally an angry person and you end up with what we see in his posts on this board. Hopefully he develops a healthy inner-monologue which will provide him with much needed insight.

Coming from the guy who gets kicks out of calling healthy women fat asses.

Because **** you.

You really aren't a happy person, are you?

Daytona........45 cars
Phoenix.........43 cars
Vegas............44 cars so far

Will we finally see less that 43 cars this season in a Cup race?

Personally ,I look forward to the day when there are less than 43 cars attempting to qualify . Then ,someone who believes there is money to be made as a S&P can tell me why noone wants it.

same guy that likes nascar "warts and all"? hmm. Well anyway, start and parks to me are better then back markers continuing to run and getting in the way of the real race. It happens in every form of motorsports. There has to be a last place in every race. Doesn't matter if there are 40 or 43 or 2.

I can see both sides of this. Personally I'd like to see a field of 30-36 cars. I'd also like to see them raise the minimum speeds so that wounded cars and slow pokes are out of the way.

compared to formula 1 where you have maybe 6 cars that can win races and that is really stretching it IMO, Nascar easily has 12 or more super competitive cars and teams, and probably 12 more who have a shot at the top15 or 20. With the 4 plate tracks and a little luck a lower level team can stay afloat and maybe get more backing or a hotshoe driver (kurt bush, AJ Almindinger). Formula 1, Rolex, whatever doesn't give lower level teams a shot like that. Downside is the start and park and more slower cars racing... I guess

Okay, this one confuses me. There is money to be made as a S&P. That is why we see it every week. o_O
Don't think that it the sole reason why they are there . If there was real money to be made , there would be twenty teams trying to do it . Even at Daytona which is the highest paying track ,there were only 45 cars .When there are spots open and no cars wanting them , that will be your proof that it is not a money making deal. Sadly , we will also have lost some raceteams . Fans will cheer their passing , sadly noone gives a crap about the underdogs anymore.

this is a tricky issue. The only real solution is nas inc fixes the product so their is sponsorship for many more teams.

Putting 43 cars on a short track is about all you can do. It takes about ten laps and the field is getting lapped.:) Doesn't happen too often, there's usually a caution before ten most of the time. That's what the smaller teams are hoping for, some of the faster cars getting taken out, so they finish higher and make more money, so they can make it to the next track. If you are real low on the totem pole, one used old car, junkish yard motor, you can't even do that, you start and park, take the little bit of money and put it back into the car and hope for a miracle. More of a problem on the east coast, where tracks are close together, than out west.

So what do most teams do regarding cars and equipment when there are consecutive West Coast races?
Do the teams send a new fully-loaded hauler to the region and take all of the Phoenix-related stuff back to North Carolina?
Or does the hauler and drive crew head back to the shop and ready themselves for a return trip to the West Coast?

It would take about 30 hours to drive from PHX to Charlotte and about 32 hours to drive from Charlotte to Vegas without stopping.

That's a lot of frigging diesel fuel in any case!

Trucking company I used to work for hauled Nascar parts. He had over 650 trucks on the road, so he could pull some strings and get the parts hot shotted to the teams. I never hauled any but some of my buddies did. He also bought old Nascar hauler tractors. I teamed with a guy for a while and we drove a Petty hauler tractor
