Random NASCAR Stuff to talk about.....

... after all, he's making pretty good "scratch" for a guy the OP apparently considers to be an uneducated bumpkin.

Shouldn't that read UNEDUMICATED bumpkin? ;)

Rather than criticize Matt, I suggest an "intervention"... that being, having Matt listen to a steady audio diet of Larry Mac-isms, non-stop, for a period of time, sufficient to provide him with a deep seated appreciation for Larry's "unique abilities" in the field of communication.

Oh, the horror!!!

Kasey showing off his new decoration in his house.

Sure looks like no woman touches that house? Is that a wicker couch and look at those pillows??

Landon Cassill is suing BK Racing over what he alleges is $205,000 in unpaid winnings and other fees owed to him for racing for the team last year. Cassill also is asking for an unspecified amount of money for not being told until mid-January that he would not drive for the team in 2013. The lawsuit was filed last month in North Carolina Superior Court in Charlotte against BK Racing, which bought the assets of Red Bull Racing just prior to the 2012 season, and principal owner Ron Devine. Adam Ross, a Charlotte attorney representing BK Racing, said that there is a dispute over what is owed to Cassill but would not go into specifics. The team has until mid-May to file a legal response to the lawsuit.(Sporting News)(3-20-2013)

Only 5 drivers have completed all 1,283 laps in Cup Menard, Biffle, Stenhouse, Keselowski and Dale Jr.

I find two of those very surprising.

Stenhouse is the most surprising to me. That guy drives the edge all day long. I doubt he makes it past many 1.5's before they have a little talk. That said, he could very well win a race this year. It will be interesting to see how long Kez can keep the top 5 run going. He's 1 away from Rusty's mark in the #2, but 5 short of the modern era mark of 9 top 5's to start a season. Jr has 4 top 10's, which is also impressive. If they stay ahead of the curve, it could finally be his year.

Yeah , why bother , no one believed them anyway . All it did was add fuel to the fire . I can see it hurting their stock prices a bit too, but withholding that info from the shareholders might be illegal.

Only 1 Cup driver has been in the top 10 in points after 4 races each of the past 4 years. Can you name him? I was surprised.

Highlight for the answer -----> Paul Menard

That is a lot of hamburgers right there

Wow, that is surprising. What happens to him after that? Probably all those hours working in the garden department at Menards start to wear on him.

I'm pretty sure the majority of the stock remains in the hands of the France family.

A few years ago he spent the off season with one of the old school racers and also spent some time with Boris Said.

We don't talk about him much on this forum because he ruins the argument of all the 'daddy's money' people.:D

I watched him race at Salem and Winchester where he did well in ARCA. He has come from money but he has raced something for most of his life.

I still don't understand why Daddy Menard doesn't insist that Paul start mentioning his sponsors once in a while. That's the least he should get for the 10 to 15 mil he puts up each year.

Fast forward to the four minute mark.

Paul doesn't get a lot of media exposure.

There's one. That's great. He mentions his sponsor when he wins.

He's done many pit road and other interviews and I never hear him mention of Menards. It feeds into the privileged image.

By the time the media gets around to interviewing Menard, most people have turned their TV off. Wanna bet I can find some more?

I'm kinda surprised about Stenhouse. I remember him at least brushing the wall at both Bristol and Las Vegas. I think that lead-lap streak will end pretty soon. But he's having a solid rookie season so far.

It's not as if Menards doesn't spend to put its name on other forms of racing. Heck, they're the title sponsor for the ARCA series.

I used to be in the 'Daddy's money' crowd, but I started changing my mind a couple of years ago. At one time I wouldn't consider him as a fantasy pick. He's finishing more consistently under Childress than with his previous teams, although I don't know if that's due more to the team or his having gained more experience. Either way, I think he's now a legit pick under the right circumstances; 'horses for courses', dontchakno?
