Random NASCAR Stuff to talk about.....

Jacques Villeneuve will take out somebody that's for sure. Preaching to the choir here, but there might be a newbe who hasn't seen Jacques work. o_O This is just a small part.

The knotheads in the booth call one of them a "racing incident?"

I wouldn't call Jacques or Boris overrated. I think their issue, is ego and the fact that they only have 1 or 2 times a year to prove something. So they push way too hard.

Exactly , when you are hired as a ringer , and you have 1 or 2 chances to win at all costs , it is imperative that you overdrive your equipment and your ability , or you won't be asked back . If you crash ,or get taken out , you have an excuse for not winning .

B.S... Boris and Ron fellows shouldn't be included. When they loose their brakes they fall back, Jacques uses the car in front of him to stop himself.o_O

Final lap. Patrick was running fourth. jocky boy way out of the line, bulls his way past Pappas, overdrives the corner and uses the car in front of him to stop hisself. This was after three other wrecks he caused. His explanation afterwards.o_O

He's a grade A ****. He's not qualified to drive go carts much less stock cars.

I think this is the same race where he wrecked Scott, and Pappis at the same time, then he turned Sadler later, and this clip, he Bulled his way past Pappas who had worked his way up to fifth driving his butt off and popped Danica.

Does anyone know if the Nationwide and Truck qualifying is scheduled for tv this weekend? I didn't see it listed.

All I see are the races listed for both Nationwide and the Truck Series. Looks like there will be no television coverage of qualifying.

I like Jacques Villenuve because I remember when he was the bushy-haired young phenom from Canada in IndyCar in the mid-1990s, before the stupid split that ruined American open-wheel racing. A bastion of better times, if you will. I don't watch Nationwide regularly, maybe I shouldn't if I want to keep my positive memories of Jacques.

most of the Canadians in the stands haven't had a problem with his driving. He packs them in up there.

Finally, for those hunters out there..... You can get Clint's sponsor in camo now. Dang, it'll match my crocs. :D

Axalta Coating Systems (formerly Dupont) has extended their contract with Jeff Gordon through the 2016 season.

I was just reading that Darlington is apparently going to downsize their seating capacity. There is a Bill being perused that would remove the requirement of a 60,000 seating capacity to still allow a tax exempt status.

If they are truly planning on a reduction below 60,000 then I've got to wonder how much longer that race will be around. I better get some tickets and get that venue off of my bucket list before it's too late.

Link for anyone interested.

Me also.

Maybe I shouldn't have said that they are going to do this but they are certainly preparing to downsize if need be.

I'm surprised more tracks aren't downsizing. There's no way the Cup race filled Dover even 2/3 full last Sunday.

I'm surprised too. Downsizing is the answer . When tickets were scarce ,everybody wanted one . Now no one needs to think about tickets before the event , because they never sell out . If you buy your ticket in advance , then you find a way to go . If you don't , something always comes up.

As far as Dover goes, in 2010 when they moved the spring date to before the All-Star break they saw a huge decline in attendance. Granted, it was occurring before that but not to the extent it is now. I don't think they'll ever recover from that move even though they've now moved it back. Dover would be better off to remove the top section of stands, get rid of the DuPont crossover bridge to open up the view from turn #3 onto the backstretch again. It'll never draw the crowd that it once did.

That's not a bad idea. As you said there's no way they'll ever get 130,000+ again. I also think if they lower ticket prices a bit they could bring back at least some fans. Right now fall Nationwide tickets start at $47 and Cup tickets at $65. The NNS tickets look especially overpriced considering the product.

I haven't seen this anywhere else.

"NASCAR indefinitely suspended Nationwide Series crewman Robert Harrison for violation of its substance abuse policy.
Harrison is the car chief for R3 Motorsports, whose No. 23 car is primarily driven by Robert Richardson."

Car chief, what in the hell is wrong with some people.

Johali, I agree. I seen that last night on either Race Hub or Nascar Now.

Just saw a commercial on RaceHub for tickets for the Bristol night race. I remember there used to be a three year waiting list for tickets to the August Bristol race.

Darlington already has the lowest seating capacity of any NASCAR track along with Homestead and Martinsville. It's not good at all that they're having trouble filling seats and are looking to downsize capacity despite already having such a low seating capacity and only one date.

I've said this before and I'll say this again: the Southern 500 needs to return to Labor day weekend. Not only because of tradition, but since it is a holiday weekend, more people may be able to travel out of town to see the race than on a regular weekend. I'm thinking that may be the only way to save the race if things are really as bad as I'm reading they are.

He better be careful in that thing. It's so used to going to the garage on lap 3 it might refuse to run after that.
The #33 hasn't S&P'ed this year, and only did it part of the time last year.
Honestly though, Boris Said is the most overrated road course "specialist" to ever drive in Cup. He makes more mistakes than most of the regulars.
I thought maybe it was just me. I love to watch the guy, but he's a bit too aggressive to keep 3400 pounds on the track. I love that some fantasy players haven't cottened to that yet and still think he's a good pick.

They're not taking it down much, and it's just a side effect of the real goal: making the seats wider. I think the current capacity is around 64,000, and they're taking it down to 58,000 or so. The exemption is on the sales tax only, and won't have any trouble passing our otherwise ineffective legislature. If you're active or retired military, order your tickets by phone and ask for the military discount; have your ID card handy.

Hey, they filled a higher percentage of seats than Dover did last week.
