Random NASCAR Stuff to talk about.....

Ford also has the benefit of taking styling cues directly from the Aston Martin DB. That can't hurt.

You got that right. Total rip off. Then again Korean makers were doing it all the time. Until they invented their own version of ugly.

I can't wait to see all of these new body styles on the track. You'd think that they would have scheduled some race with the new equipment before hitting the track next Feb in Daytona. Kinda like they did when they brought in the COT.

Me either. Can't wait to see the finished Chevrolet SS with the decals and markings on them. All the cars look great so far, even the Toy*^a. Think this is great for NASCAR and the fans.

I don't know if I'd call it a rip off. It's a design that came about while Aston Martin was under the Ford umbrella. Some will argue that it's bush league to "borrow" the style years after they sold the brand off, but I think it's at least tastefully done. I don't believe any of the current AM brass have objected, so what the hey.

Hmm I had posted in another thread that I doubted there would be a lot to really seperate the brands to tell them apart, but if this is really what will be on the track next year ...I like it a lot. You can really tell it is a Ford.

Just finished my NASCAR Fan Council survey from last weekends All Star Race. I passed along everyone's desire to keep everything exactly the same for next year. Especially Andy's idea to keep the race in Charlotte. ;)

Anyhow, I was just curious how many other members of this forum are members of the NASCAR Fan Council?

I sent in the same thing, should make everyone happy.:D

My fan council survey answers were critical of the format and the segment winners lagging behind. I also voiced my opinions on the aero push situation ruining NASCAR.

Pit road at NHMS has been made level, which makes all pits like a normal pit road. Before, some areas behind pits near top of pit wall.

I couldn't agree more that the aero push is ruining the racing especially at the 1.5 mile tracks. I think whatever changes they make as long as there's a wind tunnel the teams will figure how to get it back. (I posted this earlier about the side skirt changes) The teams aren't gonna forget what we've learned about aerodynamics and the advantages it gives. Obviously we didn't always have this issue, but how do we go back? I think a softer tire would improve the racing and guys being able to move around more may mask the problem some what.

What to do to fix it o wise owl?

An aero package that allows air to travel underneath the cars. Make it mandatory that the splitter (or whatever they have in the future) is not be able to get closer than 2 or 3 inches to the track surface at any time.

Essentially the front splitter needs to be

Getting rid of the splitter would help a lot and making the rear spoiler smaller, that would slow them down in the corners, and they wouldn't be pushing so much air in front of the car. I also think this would improve the racing on the Plate tracks, I would think it would make it easier for a sling shot pass.

The No. 2 Chevy failed post-race inspection on Sunday at Iowa. The car measured too short and failed to meet the minimum rear car height after Sadler's runner-up finish at the Iowa short track. Crew Chief Luke Lambert will be slapped with a $10,000 fine and the team will be penalized with the loss of 6 owner/driver points.

Ouch. Last thing Sadler needed.

Man, what's up with these bumper covers?

NASCAR says the No. 43 Nationwide car of Michael Annett had to remove an unapproved front bumper cover. There may be penalties next week.

A little ad for NASCAR the Game, the next edition. Apparently you can vote for who will be on the cover. I'm guessing Earnhardt.

I just bought my tickets to MIS for June race. Should I do another thread at that time? It wouldn't be as involved since I would only be going to the track which is less than an hour from here. But I may go to the Roush open house in Livonia on the preceding Thursday. Hmmm....That could make it thread worthy...

You should have waited until race day. Tickets in the high tower, very high, can be had for $35 if you walk up to the ticket window.

I am bringing one of my crazy lady friends so it should be a great day.

I don't like dealing with all that. I buy my seats ahead of time and it's done. Also, Aiden's tickets are always half off. Paid $150 for a pair of seats just past start finish, 25th row. I'm very happy with my choices.:)

I'm watching the Nationwide practice and one of my wifes friends brought her granddaughter over and put her pet turtle on the table and for awhile I was bothered until I figured out what was bothering me is the resemblance between the turtle and the person being interviewed, KyBu. I'm sure FB will come up with some pictures.
